Hello all!

Earlier this year I joined Disboards. I'm a huge Disney fan and have enjoyed reading the forum for a long time now. Well, about the time I joined, someone's post for whatever reason caught my eye and I e-mailed her. Well, she e-mailed me back and we got to talking. Talking via e-mail turned into talking via instant messenger, into talking via the phone, into talking in person. Well, never did I think I would ever meet someone quite so wonderful, but in 3 weeks when she comes I plan on asking her to marry me! We've already talked about it so I know she's going to say yes. I'm very excited and very greatful for a place like Disboards for having a forum where people who love the same things can come and gather together. Without it, I would never have met the woman of my life!

I'm not so sure about the Groom's cake only in the south...we had several of them (okay, one for display - the rest for serving) and I'm from Wisconsin and DH is from Chicago. Bill...you've most likely heard of Portillo's? The groom's cakes were all chocolate cakes DH's family brought up from there and then the caterer served them with chocolate covered strawberries. YUM!

From one "internet" couple to another, Congratulations! We were married 7 months after our first chat online, and now two years later are expecting our first baby!

Grooms cake: being a Southern girl, I am very used to seeing them. However, I have really not seen them at the wedding, but at the rehearsal dinner. One friend of mine was about to marry an avid fisherman, and she had a red velvet cake (his favorite) in the shape of a fish. DH's mom made his, peanut butter chocolate, something like 7 layers. Go wild and have fun with it!

How many of you out there have ever heard of a seperate grooms cake (like a chocolate cake) in addition to the white wedding cake?

A groom's cake is traditional. Although at my cousin's wedding a few years ago the groom decided to buck tradition and go for banana pudding instead-yummy!

OK...yes there MUST be a grooms cake and here is the perfect idea for you two.



A chocolate sheet cake with a girl sitting at a computer on one corner and a guy sitting at a computer on the other corner.The characters could be holding a phone up to their ear also. On the computer screen you will see lime green mickey heads and your user names. Maybe something with a logo of your different states and a lime green swirly line indicating the phone line connecting the two of you.


How does that sound????
