Congratulations! I met my soon-to-be husband on the internet too. It was funny because we both went to the same school and hung out in the same places and we didn't even know it until after a few e-mails. Anyway, congrats and I vote for a chocolate grooms cake with a lime-green hidden mickey on it.

Cograts and yes I have heard of a Groom's Cake. When I was married in the South 16 years ago, we had it at the rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding. My DH had a carrot cake. Most people use chocolate or something totally opposite of the wedding cake. Again congrats!!

Wow....such a great story.
I met my DH on the Internet in 2000 & we married in 2003. I lucked out and found a fellow Disney lover too, but it wasn't actually on a Disney site. That is really cool.

Hello all!

Well, about the time I joined, someone's post for whatever reason caught my eye and I e-mailed her.

Gee, I can't imagine what caught his eye....Maybe that lovely picture of her?


Has anyone else noticed that everyone below the Mason-Dixon has heard of a groom's cake? I've seen it at a little under half the weddings I've been to in MD. (we are on the northern end of it) every wedding in VA and below has had it though. It is supposed to reflect the groom. My DH is an apple cobbler freak - so we had cobbler. I think you should have a cake in the shape of the castle, or just a big Mickey. I'm sure a Disney bakery could ship.

I've heard of the groom's cake but never saw one at a wedding (I'm from NJ, and I think our typical weddings here are pretty different from the South.)

Well, last night I proposed to Christy and she said yes!!! YAY! It couldn't have been more perfect. As luck would have it, my prayers were answered and we got snow here in Chicago yesterday. On the way to the restaurant (where I had originally intended to propose), it was snowing and just absolutely beautiful and romantic. So, when we got to the restaurant, before we went inside, I turned her around, got down on one knee and proposed in the snow. And, she said yes

We had dinner at Maggiano's. The hostess found out we had literally just gotten engaged and we were escorted to a table, where a bottle of champagne compliments of the house was waiting for us. It was very sweet of them. We had dinner, and when it came time for desert, our desert came with "Congratulations" written in chocolate on the dish. It was perfect. And, to top things off even that much more, someone who had been sitting by the window eating dinner, had looked outside and seen the proposal. She came up to us before she left and said she had seen it, congratulated us, and asked to see the ring. It was very sweet.

I'm still very excited, and so happy!!!!!
