She killed it, now wants her money back

Nothing wrong with returning the plant. You can even return dead fish.

, at least I know I can scratch flowered shirt off the Christmas list. Way OT, did you get your EggNog?

LOL - yup, definitely scratch the flowered shirt.. Got the egg nog - we'll see.. :goodvibes

I've had problems with yahoo all day long and I don't know if anything is going through..:( Any problems on your end? :confused3

I will be returning two bushes come spring. I planted them in September and they died. Im waiting for the new shipment in to replace them. Im gonna pull them suckers right out of the ground and return them. :goodvibes

I wouldn't have tried to return it, but that definitely could have been me holding a dead plant.. I got the "black thumb" of the family.. I can kill the flowers in wallpaper..:sad2:

I bought a cactus plant once - 'cause the guy told me they need little to no care at all.. I killed that too..

Now I won't even buy a flowered blouse..:guilty:

I was like that, I could walk through the garden and kill everything. Now I have an allotment and we are still eating the squashes I grew.

I think Walmart takes back anything, especially if you have your receipt. Lol!!! My grandfather returned a case of soda because he said the soda tasted funny. I guess he had to drink 19 cans to realize that. :confused3 They returned his money, didn't even hesitate. The things my grandparents return crack me up. Ugh! That's what I have to look forward to when I get old.

15 years ago, when I worked for JCPenney, we had someone try to return a greeting card that they'd purchased. They made a mistake when writing it out :sad2:

2 sent, none received if that helps.

Yes, she DID return it!! And she got her whopping twelve bucks back, too!

You make it sound like she was silly and out of line for returning it...why?

How do you know she "killed" the plant? Perhaps it was diseased, or just died on its own. It happens, you know, and as long as she was within the return period and did what WalMart asked, she is absolutely entitled to her "whopping twelve bucks" which for some folks is a good sum of money.

I've returned dead plants to Home Depot. I buy my houseplants and my plants for the yard from HD for the express reason that they have a 1 year return policy. I don't know if Wal-Mart does or not but it wouldn't surprise me at all. And I don't feel bad when I return dead plants either, if they didn't want us to return them they wouldn't have the policy. :)

This is so not funny, but you had me cracking up or should I say.....pushing daisies:rotfl:

I returned a dead tree to Lowes two summers ago. I watered it, fed it, planted it properly and it died. The tag said guaranteed for a year so I returned it. They had no problem giving me my money back.

I have as well. It was a pain in the but to dig up too:headache:

Whenever my kids bring a plant home from school, the running joke is always "well, how long do you think mom can make THIS plant last?" I think my record is two years. They still talk about it, "mom, remember when you made that plant last two whole years?" :rotfl2:

No matter what anybody says or thinks here, this is the correct answer.

:lmao: I had someone try and return a pair of shoes once completely caked in mud. He had "no idea how they got that way". Yeah he did not get his return. He was pretty mad. :rotfl:

So here's one to top the cake. The big stores really need to reword their policy on plants.

There was a guy that would always buy his plants at the same home depot. He'd work and till his garden, spring, summer, and fall. And like clock work, he'd dig up his dead annuals and bring them back in for a return when the season was over. Then start the whole process over again. He was following policy to a T, but still giving the store a run for it's money.

I can completely understand when you buy a tree or shrub with a very long life span, and it dies within the first year. Generally it can be a root ball problem, and they don't spread out like they should. But annuals only have like a 3-4 month life span, they're not supposed to live a long time.

I have returned plants to Home Depot within their return policy. They were azalea planted outside. I did everything but they died within a couple of months.

I used to work retail (JC Penney) and the worse return was a lady returned a shirt that was at least 10 years old because it had holes in it. The shirt was so old we didn't even carry that store brand anymore and hadn't in many, many years. They gave her a refund anyway. :sad2:

O my goodness! My friend's mother works in cs at Walmart and the stories she has! A few years ago someone brought in a half eaten turkey the day after Thanksgiving and wanted her money back because it was too much for her family to eat, and they gave it to her!! She sees scams all the time too like people bringing back bottles of Tide, only the tide is gone and they filled it back up with water. :sad2: Unbelievable some of the stuff people try!

My DH runs a garden center and they do have a guarantee on some kinds of plants for a certain amount of time, he's always replacing plants, even when it's obvious it wasn't taken care of. O well, it's their policy and he likes to keep people happy.
