Ok, now what every parent of a CP CM wants so know........

What kind of a discount will she get on park tickets and/or resorts?

I'd like to visit her while she's there.

She leaves 1/9/06!! She was so excited when she got her envelope in the mail yesterday she screamed. She's in merchandising.

Thanks

That's so exciting! I can only imagine her joy at getting that envelope in the mail!

I'm still waiting for mine...it's taking wayyy too long.

Congrats! When your daughter logs in to complete her "acceptance" ya'll can get all kinds of good info ... like discounts! :) One I can remember off hand is that she will get half off a Disney hotel!

Tickets: Generally works out to roughly 10% off, but you have to buy the tickets at Company D (CM-only store)

Resorts: Anywhere from 25-50% depending on season, occupancy, and a whole host of other factors.

She can't use her discount until she has her company ID and the hotel reservations are all made through the Cast Portal Website, so she'll need to have a Portal login too. (usually get that on your 1st or 2nd day of training)

My dd just got accepted into the CP in custodial. SHe's thrilled to be going but I'm concerned about what she will be doing. Anyone ever do that part of the program? She can't wait to go Jan. 9th. I was hopionh she'd get merchan. since she's studying business. Oh well. It will still be a great experience I'm sure! And I will be there to visit, at least twice, I hope!

Im going into Law Enforcement and I applied for transportation and operations. I feel that its not so much the job that you are doing that important, but the people skills that you are going to be able to practice on. She could be the best buisness woman but with no people skills whats the point?

Thanks a lot Horizons16, you make a great point! I am very happy for her and the opportunities she will have while she is there in the CP.

You know, I was reading some comments left by former CP custodians on a different website and they were very quick to list the pros and cons of the job. They said the cons were that you often have to clean up gross things and maintain bathrooms...which I'm sure no one wants to do voluntarily---however, they also said that it is the CP job with the most freedom, the most free will to move about the park and talk to guests and other CPs. Also, you learn to self-monitor since you don't always have a manager on hand. Some of them even joked about finding tools that are just 'right' for them, so they'd hide them under couches in the break room or behind pop machienes so no one would take them...it seems like it could be made into a very fun job. I know that custodial probably sounds like a big drag and it probably could be depending on what you make of it. I think that is the key phrase for the CP-it's all up to you. I'm glad your DD made it into the program! Let the magic begin!

My DD was also in custodial. She had Main Street in MK as her area-all the way from the castle to in front of the turnstiles, and occasionally worked in Adventureland or in the backstage area. She did not always mind the bathroom detail but found out how nasty some people can be-not in attitude. Her biggest complaints were trying to empty the trash during parades-very difficult to get to trash cans and the timing was not her choice and people in the bathrooms throwing paper towels over her head as she tried to empty the containers-they could not wait a few seconds for her to get out of the way. She enjoyed having the freedom to talk to people and visit. We visited her while she was there and she did get us a room at 50% off for a couple of nights, we stayed at DVC the other nights. Her discount for buying points for DVC was extended to us, so we added on a few during this time. She was allowed to take us into the employee shopping area. DD was assigned to a 3 bedroom apartment with 5 other girls and she still keeps in touch with a couple of them. Tell you DD congratulations.

When was her interview?
Her interview was Tuesday, October 25. She got her letter Thursday, November 3rd.

Thanks for the info where to look for discounts. She's making her list of what to bring.

Wow, she received her reply quite quickly!

My interview was October 26th and I still haven't heard anything, and I'm starting to get really worried...most people are saying they've heard back in 9 days, or 10, 11.... :confused3

I had mine the 24th, i also have not recieved anything in the mail... im getting worried as well. Maybe its because of the weekend.... I hope.

I hope it is because of the weekend, like you said. If it's not, then I have no idea what to think.

saw you on the other thread :)

Havent gotten my mail yet today. My theory is that he is drinking on the job. Bad bad man. Ha

Haha! :rotfl:

Well, if he is, then he'll have some explaining to do!

The mailman will be here in 2 hours... let's hope today is the lucky day for me..and for you, and for anybody else who is expecting a letter around this time. :wizard:

Your letter didn't come today? Try not to worry, I'm sure by the end of this week you will get it, and hopefully I will, too. We both interviewed almost at the same time, so we should be hearing back soon...

Good luck!!!!! :cheer2:
