Why is it that every time this movie is on, I get completely sucked in? I must have seen it 30+ times and I just turned on the TV and it's on TNT! Of course, this means I'm not going to get to sleep until the warden opens his safe at the end...Oh well, I couldn't sleep anyway.

It is one of my favorites, too! The story is really good and the acting excellent, but I think what pulls me in every time is the awesome, moody music and the voice of Morgan Freeman narrating. I could listen to him all day!

There was a thread the other day about favorite all time movies... hang on, I'll be right back, yep, just checked TNT - it's on, is it another Shawshank Marathon?? This movie is one of my favorites. Everytime I watch the end of the movie, Morgan Freeman (can't believe I can't think of his name) takes the bus & is walking to find the box under the tree, I always expect some farmer to come out & say "what you doin' on my property" or something to that effect, I'm always so relieved when he doesn't get caught out there (yes, I've seen this movie 40+ times, but I'm always expecting a shocker). The all time "suck you in" movie.

Red - that's it.

<font color=navy>It wasn't too long ago that my ds saw that movie, and he was like, "Mom we GOTTA rent that movie. I want to watch it with you."

So, yup - I've seen it a few times, too. Great movie.

Agreed, one of the best movies from a few years back...we have seen it more than a few times. Gives us all hope in life.. Love it:)

::yes:: I also, for some reason can't click past it if its on. Its so funny because my family was just having this same discussion, it is just awesome! Did it win any awards?

I really like this movie too. Not sure how many times I have seen it but certainly way into double digits.

::yes:: My DH and I ALWAYS watch Shawshank. We have everyone on our block watching it, too. It does seem to be on TNT every day, though. If my DH is watching TV and I stop and see what he's watching, no doubt it's Shawshank. I don't know, but the remote always seems to find it.

We LOVE this movie...Disneyland_emily and I share the same best part of the movie...

"Get busy livin' or get busy dyin'". It has become my anthem and way of life. It's too short. My DH likes Brooksy. Morgan Freeman, well I loved him since he was on The Electric Company on PBS. WAY back when.

LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!!

I get sucked in on this one also! Also with Pretty Woman and I think I have seen that one 1000 times!

I didn't know what to expect the first time I saw Shawshank. I was blown away:D That is surely one of the best movies of the past 20 years.:D

I didn't make it through the whole movie last night, but did see some of my favorite parts - the rooftop and Andy playing the record for the prison. I shed a tear every time during Brooksy's last scene - it's just so sad. I hate all the commercials TNT plays, though, it really ruins the flow of the movie. :D

I still can't belive how many of the secondary characters in that movie went on to bigger and better things...

Hey! I love it too! I did not see it in the movie theatre, but had to watch it with my DH. Can't believe how much we love it.

My boss went to the Mansfield prison a few months ago, and they talked about the scenes that were filmed there.
The scene where Morgan is walking through the field is near Malabar farms, not too far from here. I thought it looked familiar, but could not place it. That is a beautiful scene with him walking down the road.

LOVE IT!

It is truly an awesome movie! One of the best adaptations of a Stephen King story. I, too, remember the first time I saw it. I rented it on the recommendation of my BIL. And when I watched it, I cried. And EVERY time I see it on TV, I stop and watch. Ive got to buy that. I am sick of the TNT commercial breaks too!

I could have written this post word for word.

One of my top 3 favorite movies of all time. Anytime it's on I need to watch the rest. It's such an excellent movie.

Personally, I dislike Tim Robbins' policital antics, however I can separate that with this movie because his character is so unique and you really pull for him the whole movie.

The end always leaves me with a tear.

Ya know..I didn't realize until the other night that this movie was only 10 yrs old? I thought it was WAY older than that. The only reason I *know* it's ten years old now is that I caught some sort of a late-nite interview on PBS with Morgan Freeman and he was talking about how this year they are releasing a speical 10 yr anniversary DVD version of the movie. :)

Great movie. Didn't want to see it at first but my sister recommended it. Now I have to watch it over and over. We even did this at a "Theology and Film" night at our church parsonage. :sunny:

It's one of my all time favorites too! ::yes::
