I assume disney allows you to carry sharps/needles in the park if you need injections (insulin/steroids). Do you need a dr's note so you can get past security?

what documentation do you need for the planes?

Check here http://www.tsa.gov/ for official flight guideline.

We have carried pen needles for insulin into the Parks for ten years, and never had to show a doctors note or prescription.

Just a quick note: If you need the needles for standard medicating (rather than in an emergency) I think you should be able to leave them at the First Aid station, to save you carrying them with you. (Slightly OT but I thought it might help)

We have carried emergency meds with the syringe onto the plane passing through TSA and into the parks with no problem.

I usually travel by air five or six round trips per year and have never had any problem with TSA concerning syringes and pen needles. Likewise I have never been questioned when going into a park as a guest. And I will often have a small case with a preloaded syringe as well as a pen and needles.

You might consider going to any of the park (including water park) First Aid stations to get a private area for giving yourself your injection(s). They will also have Sharps Disposals there and can prvide alcohol swabs, etc if necessary. Also if you have any medication which requires refrigeration they will store it for you, all at no charge.

If it is a matter of taking insulin I would not go to First Aid to do your injection due to the way ADRs are handled. You have no guarantee of getting your table and meal in a timely manner. Inject at the restaurant once your food is on the way. Otherwise you may have to ask for a snack and not be able to eat the food you wanted at the restaurant.
Injections can be done discretely through you clothes if not too thick.

When I was there in December I had no problem carrying my insulin, needles, glucometer etc... into the parks. I take the Levemir and Novalog in the pens which use the screw on needles. I kept my insulin with me at all times and either went in to the bathroom or found a bench away from people to take my shots and check my sugar. I have some trouble walking at times and getting to the first aid area is not always a reasonable option. I found that doing my shots in the bathroom stall was too small for me to do my injections as I cannot stand to be crowded - makes me jittery. (I refuse to use the larger handicapped stall since there are others who need them for actually using the restroom.) I then tried to just find a spot in the bathroom away from others, but it never failed I would get an audience - I wanted to tell these folks to keep staring cause I might do a trick for them. Anyway, I finally found that going to a secluded spot somewhere was my best option. I cannot give my shots through my clothes so I would pull up my shirt just enough to do the injection, making sure nothing (especially my belly) was over exposed (the most amount of skin visible was an inch). If we were eating a TS I had to suck it up and do my shot in their restroom. I would never do my shot at a dinner table - that would be so disrespectful in my opinion.
The only problem I had was there was no place to dispose of my needles. I am sure there was a sharps container in the first aid place. I used an empty small water bottle to dispose of them in. I just recapped the needles, put them in it and disposed of it when I got home from the trip. I wish they had sharps containers in the restrooms. Many places where I live have them. It really helps out.

MommaPooh I would never inject in the bathroom. Probably the most unsanitary place you can go. I do inject and the table and can do it discretely. I don't find it disrespectful to others at all. I've been doing this for over 29 years and rarely have had anyone notice.
I've had more problems when I've roomed with people at conventions who were skittish of injections. Even there I will not inject in the bathroom.
