Friday - June 22nd - Day #8

Today is our Magic Kingdom day. We rode the boat over to the MK from FW. (The boat didn't come until 8:30 am and now it stops at the WL, then goes on to the MK). We got there at 8:55 am and the lines were long at the turnstiles. Got in and went straight over to Tomorrowland (wasn't opened yet….had to wait to get in).
Well, they opened and we went straight to BuzzLightyear and do you know we still had a 15-min. wait. So…while we were waiting I went ahead and got a Fastness to ride again in about 15-20 min. Our car we rode in (both times) the guns were not working. Kayla and I barely racked up 5000 points. Oh well.

One thing about MK, it's ALWAYS busy. We did the Tomorrowland stuff. Kayla was thrilled that she was finally tall enough to drive the raceway car by herself. I rode along for the ride. She also did the Alien ride with Cameron and Chris. Not me…too chicken.

We headed over to Adventureland (my favorite part). We were going to go on the new Aladdin carpet ride, but the kids said no…it was too much like Dumbo, so we passed on that one. Did the Jungle boat and the Pirates of the Caribbean. (My favorite). Well, we got off that, it was lunchtime plus it looked like it was going to rain. Before we went to eat…I went and got a fast pass for Big Thunder Mountain.

We ate at Pecos Bills. I love that place. I love the fact that they have a "fixin's bar" there with sauté mushrooms, onions, cheese and all the other goodies to put on your sandwich. Cameron got the grilled chicken & Chris and I got the cheeseburgers. Kayla got the chili cheese fries. She couldn't finish them because it was so big.

Well, we decided to head over to Big Thunder Mountain with our fast pass. I love that ride. Last year Kayla hated it because she kept coming out of her seat…this year she loved it. Well, it was really getting dark and the thunder was getting louder, so we headed over to the Haunted Mansion hoping that we would get in before the downpour came. We rode the ride, but it kept stopping throughout the ride (we counted…it stopped 6 times). I think it was because of the storm. Well, when we got off the ride…it was raining hard and it was really lighting out. We ran to the store right next to Haunted Mansion (and so did everyone else too). When the rain lightened up a bit…we went into Fantasyland…too crowded so we headed back over to Adventureland and did the Country Bear Jamboree…well, it started pouring again.
When the show ended, it lightened up a bit again and we decided to get the dreaded rain ponchos (I had 4 of them at the camper too). But with no end in site for the rain…we didn't have much of a choice.

We went and rode the Carousel of Progress…I love that ride. I guess because I love history and that time period.

Let's see……we went and had an ice cream and I forgot the name of the place but it's right across from the old 20,000 leagues under the sea. Yummy! We got milkshakes and it came in a keepsake plastic cup. Love those cups.

Went and saw the Lion king show and enjoyed that.

While I'm thinking of this….has anyone else noticed this or is it just me? When you are walking across the bridge to Adventureland and while you are in it….do you notice the smell? It reminds me of celery. Cameron said the same thing. So…next time you are walking across the bridge to AL……smell and see what it reminds you of.

Now we are hungry again (notice how much you eat while you are on vacation..lol). We were tired of hamburgers so we thought we would give Cosmic Rays a try. You know what? We loved it. Really! We all got the rotisserie chicken with garlic mash potatoes and corn muffin. It was such a nice change from the same ole same ole. YUM! If you haven't tried it…I highly recommend it.

Well, we decided to get a few pictures around the castle and our feet were killing us by now. So, we did a bit of shopping on Main Street. There were several stores plus the ice cream place that were all closed due to remodeling or something…we were bummed. It's about 7:50 and we thought we better stake our claim for the new spectromagic parade. We sat next to a very nice couple who was on their honeymoon. That was sooo sweet. They took pictures of us with our camera and vise versa. Cameron and I of course had to tell them about our honeymoon at DW too. That we did the same thing that they are doing!

The Spectromagic parade was good. It's all of Disney's characters, etc in the parade. Little Mermaid, Chip and Dale, Alice in Wonderland, etc. It reminded me of the Electric light parade. Which I love.

Well, the parades over and we decided to head on out and watch the fireworks from the beach at FW. So, we left and got back right at 10:00. Well, no fireworks…we wait and wait and wait. So, finally at 10:15, we caught the bus back to the camper and guess what? The fireworks started. Oh well, must have had a technical problem.

Tomorrow is our Disney Quest day. I'm not sure how I'll like this…but I'm game…..plus I want to shop!

we did it four times in one morning......couldn't believe it ourselves........also the ALien isn't all that scarey.....the hype was ....but after a dozen trips through it......I am now the watcher of the ones that would like to crawl out of the place and hide forever........thanks so much for this MK report......and by the way.....I hope you like Quest.....we did......from the 50 year old people down to the eight year old........we are the 50 year old ones........thanks again
