Sharon Osbourne: Surviving The Battle
Sharon Osbourne ended up black and blue after a fight in a restaurant with a Hollywood agent. But Sharon's real battle has been with cancer. In an exclusive interview with Access Hollywood's Billy Bush, Sharon talked about everything from her talk show to Mr. Personality host Monica Lewinsky and the cancer scare that threatened her life.
Billy: There's a quote that says, 'Sharon Osbourne is cancer free.' Are you cancer free?
Sharon: Yep, no cancer at all.
It was the news that she had been praying for after undergoing months of chemotherapy for colon cancer. Ever since she was diagnosed last June, Sharon seemed like a tower of strength continuing with her family on their MTV reality show while undergoing cancer treatment. But she now says that she did have a scare right after she and Ozzy renewed their wedding vows on New Year's Eve.
Sharon: Two days after I had my party I was taken to the hospital unconscious and had gone into a semi-coma or whatever you call it. I was out for two days and when I came round, I thought I was in an airport checking in for a plane but I was in intensive care.
Billy: Did you think at that point you would die? At any point?
Sharon: I got to the point on occasions like that when I had a little setback in my treatment where I would go back into the hospital. It was like, 'Am I ever going to get through this? Am I ever going to wake up and feel like it's me again?' I didn't think I would but I did.
Billy: No one was more affected by the whole thing than Ozzy. Can you turn to him and say, 'I'm afraid. I think I might lose this thing?'
Sharon: I never did because he was so desperately afraid that he was going to lose me or my kids. I sort of, you know, keep it to myself.
Billy: So who do you turn to and say, 'I'm not fine. I need to be held.' Is there someone for you like that?
Sharon: No... my dog Minnie.
With a clean bill of health, Sharon is focusing her attention on her talk show, which debuts fall 2003 and promises to be quintessential Sharon.
Billy: You're meeting with advertisers, right? What do you have to do for them? Lap dance?
Sharon: (laughs) I wish it was that easy. They want to know if I'm swearing, if I'm not swearing.
Billy: Is that the first question out of their mouths?
Sharon: Yes. They're like, 'Are you going to swear?' and I'm like, 'No.'
Billy: What would you say to someone like Monica Lewinsky if you had her as a guest?
Sharon: I've thought about this one a lot with her. I would say, 'I would've done what you've done.' I would have been there in a second. Good for her, good for her!
Billy: Be careful.
Sharon: I would have done more than she did, though. I would have gone all the way and more. He's cute. Who wouldn't? Come on, who wouldn't? Wouldn't any young girl in that position. I mean, a f****** intern -- she's not going to want to f*** the biggest power in the world?
