It's absolutely FREEZING.

There's a little ledge to sit on though before you set off - dip yourself in the water to acclimatise. That makes it much better. My DH didn't bother, found he couldn't breathe half way there, swallowed a bunch of salt water, started choking and had to be rescued by a lifeguard

I actually felt sorry for the fishies, they must have wondered what the hell was going on!!

if you live North of the Mason-Dixon line you've enjoyed colder water at the beach. It isn't at all as bad as they say, and it totally rocks.

I did it when it first opened when I was only 12 years old and it's the only thing I remember from that trip! It's absolutely amazing. The water is chilly but if you just dive in your body adjusts very quickly. I would HIGHLY recommend doing this.
