Hi all, this is my first post and while I've read the threads for a few months, I have a specific question and hope you can help me with it.

DH, DS5 and I are going to WDW for the 1st time next week and we're on the DDP. Our first meal is at Chefs De France in Epcot but it's for 6.30pm dinner the day after we arrive. Now we're flying in from Singapore and it's a 32hr flight time in total, including 2 transits. Singapore time is also 13hr ahead of WDW ie night is day and vice versa. I'm very sure that my DS5 will be completely jetlagged the first day such that he won't have much appetite and he would probably have filled up on a CS meal some hours earlier.

Do you think that the server would just let us order 2A TS at CDF if we explained things to her/him? We have no intention of cheating Disney, in fact, with the left over child credit we'll be bringing him for a character meal and pay OOP for the rest of us but I wanted to have some views, just to prepare myself. (We already have that extra TS ADR made too). It would be such a waste of food if I were forced to order a child meal for him, esp if DS5 is sleeping thru the meal. Oh, and did I mention that he's a picky eater at the best of times??

TIA for all your views, it's 8 days to go and counting! I'm so excited!!

Good news. It's possible. You can share with your child at the sit down table service meals. The credit can be used for an adult at that extra meal and then you can save money by paying for 1 adult and paying for the child. Your not cheating disney. It's allowed. The only time a child will have to pay or use a table service credit is at the buffets or family style meals. The meals are usually big enough at the restaurants to share anyway. If you can manage to have your child share at 2 of the sit down places, then you have 2 TS credits for another meal for you and your DH. Just pay OOP for your child.

We were just there and my kids hardly ate any of their kid's meal. It was the only disappointing meal we had the whole trip. If he is not especially hungry, I would definitely let him share with you.

As long as you use the credit you didn't use for your child on that first day for your child for a meal for your child later in your trip, then you're technically in compliance with the rules of the Dining Plan which prohibit using child meal entitlements for adult meals. However, until Disney has an effective means of ensuring compliance, be prepared for the small but significant chance that servers will require ordering of a child meal whenever adult meals are being ordered, as per the breakdown of the Dining Plan party on your room key (i.e., in your case, 2A1C). The system is not perfect yet.

Have a great time.

The FAQ in the dining brochure specifically says that child entitlements aren't to be used to purchase adult meals.

DIS says rules on dining policy should be directed to Disney and not debated in these boards.

That said I wouldn't base my dining plans on Disney continuing to allow this practice to continue.

This is another "it depends" sort of question that Disney only can answer.
