"Sharing" on DxDP

I know the technical answer to this, but wondered what the practical answer is....

I know that we will not use 4 appetizers, 4 entrees and 4 desserts with each meal. We just can't eat that much. At most we'd get 2 appetizers and only the girls get dessert most likely! In looking for a way to spread the Disney magic / pay it forward, I'd like to offer to buy another table's appetizer or dessert. I know the official take on that is "no sharing" but has anyone actually tried it at the restaurants?

The waiters won't do it...they can lose their job for breaking the rules.

You cannot use your credits to pay for other people's meals...

you can always ask for your desserts "to go" if you can't eat them right then.

I'm sure they won't allow it, but that would be a great way to show the magic of Disney!

I agree they won't allow it but how about getting 2 of the apps and 2 of the desserts boxes up right away to go? Maybe pick things that would be easy to eat later on while in the parks?

Plus, if you happen to be sitting next to a nice couple and know what they would like for dessert, have it boxed up, "pay" for your meal, then gift it to them for later . (Sneaky, I know, but totally worth it when you see happy faces)

If you won't eat that much, maybe you should just get the regular dining plan and pay OOP for extras or no plan at all

If you do decide to do Deluxe, DO NOT order things you won't eat b/c you paid for it...b/c then you have to pay a tip on a higher bill amount (which for most people would mean a higher tip). While I think it is nice to share, I am not going to pay several more dollars on a tip so the people next to me can have my onion rings. (and Disney won't let you do that anyhow)

I agree= the delux cost so much more then the regular dining plan.--Which we were going to do but decided to save the money--do reg dining and pay OOP for any extras we might want.

We have alot of sitdown dinners. With 3TS a day each for DxDP vs 1 TS for DDP, the DDP won't work for us. This trip is a splurge for us. We will probably use about 50-54 of our allotted 60 credits. From the figures I did, it's about breakeven costwise even if we don't use 6-10 of our credits, and it's worth it to have it all taken care of ahead of time.

As far as paying the tip on someone else's food, we will at times pay for someone's meal or dessert to spread pixie dust / pay it forward at Disney and elsewhere so just paying the tip doesn't bother me.

If you don't use all of your credits, on your last day there couldn't you just walk up to a counter service and ask someone in line if you could buy their food. They don't make sure that since you bought it you're the one eating it.
