Sharing no DDP??

We were just there last week and my daughter and I shared meals at both Rose and Crown and LeCellier and no one gave it a second thought. They were great about letting us know how many of each we had ordered since there were 6 of us ordering 5 meals and some ordering "adult" drinks some not.

As long as you're not sharing adult meals to avoid using credits for child meals, then you shouldn't encounter any concerns. Have a great trip!

My DH and I just got back from a week's trip. At Spoodles we asked if possible to share and if I just ordered a salad. With all the food from the week I was full and did not want to waste. The waitress at first protested and said I was required to order an entree. I spoke up and pointed out we ordered a pitcher of sangria and the salad in addition. I also said we did not plan to cheat her out of a tip. In fact, we tipped her 10 dollars. I felt it was fair.

I know legally can't do this but will we get grief if on a couple of nights when we're visiting, we'll have a guest, so even though we've paid for 4 DDP, can we use a fifth TS dinner on occasion? Obviouslly we'll end up short at the end of the trip, but can always pay for that OOP.

Will that be a problem?

The Dining Plan rules make it clear that it is not transferable, and that you have to get the Dining Plan for all members of your party for the entire duration of your visit. While you can share food off of any plate you order, you cannot share Dining Plan credits with folks who aren't in your party.

There is nothing wrong, at a non-buffet, non-all you care to eat restaurant with ordering 4 meals, and an extra drink, and sharing it with 5 guests, with only 4 being on the plan. Sharing food is OK

Chefs de France only allowed me to use the DDP to pay for 2 meals, my card said 2A. I asked at the desk at POP and was told you're not allowed to use your meal plan to treat guests not on the plan.

It's certainly possible a server at a particular restaurant may be able to make an exception but I wouldn't plan on being allowed to do that.

DIS doesn't want us debating the use of the plan, some guests were allowed to use credits to treat and some weren't. YMMV.

We were on DDP and my parents weren't. They ordered entrees OOP and we shared our appetizers and desserts with them and it was never a problem.

Just imho. If you are using the same room card to charge the "paying meal" on as the one with the dining credits on it, make sure to carefully explain to the server that you want to charge a meal to the room rather than use a credit. In our experience we had to be sure to tell them how to do the check.

I was wondering this as well..DD joining myself & DH last nite of our trip. I just booked ADR for 3 of us. We have plan she does not.

She does not eat much so I am letting her order something small and she can share appy and have my dessert. I will pay OOP for whatever she orders.

Absolutely. Most restaurants have more inexpensive items that a "guest" can order (and you can pay for), and then of course all the food on the table is open to all (except AYCE items). We actually might go this route at Spoodles. We're vacationing with my wife's cousins, and I heard there might be a chance one other member of the family may come to have dinner with us one night. We could order the rigatoni for him (very reasonable at $16.79) and then share all our appetizers, entrees and desserts among the whole family.
