Sharing meals?

Ok, this January is the first time DH and I will be eating @ California Grill and wanted to know if it is ok to share an entree there. We like to get an appetizer and share it and that cheese plate looks delicious! I know we both wouldn't be able to finish a full entree each.
Also since it's mid January and not a crazy busy time of the year, are the odds good that we will get a seat by the window for Wishes?
Thank you!

You should be fine sharing an appetizer and entree at CA Grill. In general, you cannot share at buffets (e.g., Chef Mickey), all-you-care-to-eat/family style meals (e.g., 'Ohana), dinner shows (e.g., HDDR), fixed priced meals (e.g., CRT), and dining packages (e.g., Fantasmic dining package). When on the DDP, you cannot "share" items that are designed "for two" (two individuals must each use a credit to order these items) or at Via Napoli (you cannot use one credit to feed two people).

I don't think it really matters what time of the year it is, the window tables are always the most coveted locations at CA Grill around fireworks time. So they're going to fill up first. Whether you get one all depends on when your ADR time is, who is there before you, and whether any of the tables turn over in time. The best you can do is request a fireworks viewing window table when you check in, hope for the best, but prepare to be told either it'll be a long wait (with no guarantee that one will be available before fireworks) or that they are not taking table requests.

Thanks for the reply! We are not on any dining plan and our ADR is 5:40 p.m. so hopefully that'll help with the table near the window. :)

When is Wishes? The average three-course meal for my family of three-adults takes between 90 and 120 minutes at a Signature location and we aren't fast eaters. So depending on when Wishes is scheduled, you may need to drag out your meal to make it. The general advice is usually to try and get an ADR for about 90 to 120 minutes before Wishes.

That being said, even if you don't get a window table with a view (and not all window tables have a view of fireworks), you can still go out onto the observation deck to watch Wishes. In truth, I think the view is better on the observation deck because you don't have the glass from the windows getting in the way.

Wishes is at 8pm so we should be good. Thank you so much for the info. :)
Are you saying that you're going to eat at 5:40, only order one app and entree, and expect to still be seated long enough to watch Wishes almost two and a half hours later? I don't think that's going to work out for you. Keep in mind, however, that after you dine, you can return later in the evening to watch Wishes from the viewing platform.

I've had the cheese plate at CA grill - it's fun to sample the different cheeses but it will not take 2 adults very long to finish, maybe 20 minutes max leaving 2 hours to eat half an entrée? Even dawdling I don't think you can politely stretch a split entrée and split appetizer meal into an almost 3 hour deal (adding in the time to actually sit there and watch wishes once it starts.) Even if you throw desert in, you'd still be done well before wishes started, IMO. Ca Grill tends to run late w/ seating for us - but, our ADRs are always for closer to 8 pm on 9 pm wishes nights, I'd expect seating to be faster right after the restaurant opens.
I'd try for a later ADR and not be too disappointed if you aren't seated by a window with a wishes view during wishes irrespective of when your ADR is for. After the 2013 redo I don't think there are many 2 top window front w/ wishes view tables available these days.
We've eaten at Ca Grill several times and only once were we seated by the window w/ a direst view of Wishes. The other 2 top in a prime location that night was occupied by a young man proposing and the restaurant was in on it as they brought out the ring in a glass slipper desert right as Wishes started. It was so cool to see, especially as she said yes :)
