Sharing meals

I was wondering if anybody knows how Disney feels about sharing meals at the nicer restaurants. Of course I'm not refering to the all-you-can-eat banquets, but rather the regular entrees you can purchase. Nobody in my family is a big eater (I would be, but my diet tells me otherwise) so for us a shared meal between my wife and I, and one between my two kids would be more than sufficient.
Also would this be a possibility at any of the character meals as well. I really want to take my kids to at least one of them, but I don't want to pay full price when I know much of the food will not be eaten anyway.

I know many people have posted that they had no trouble sharing a meal, but last September my adult DD and I asked about sharing a meal at Flying Fish and were told that we couldn't. The waiter told me we were each taking a seat in the restaurant and that since we were on the dining plan we would each have to order a meal. I probably could have pushed this but since it was free dining we just went ahead and ordered. It was a lot of food so they packed up our desserts to go so we could enjoy them later in the room. So, you just never know until you are there. But most posts I see say that people are allowed to share in all restaurants.

DF and I ate at Citrico's and the California Grille while at The World for Labor Day. Both restaurants didn't mind at all that we split our entree. In fact, at both, ht ekitchen split our meat, and provided us both with our own plate of sides and half of the meat.

They were very accomadating about it!

I have never had a problem a any Disney table service restaurant in splitting an entree. As a matter of fact, generally when we let the server know we will be asked if we would like them to split it in advance in the kitchen. It then comes out on two plates with the proper accompaniments on each plate.

This, of course, only applies to when you order from a menu and not a fixed price meal.

I'm pretty sure that for character meals, they charge you per person because it is either a buffet or a family style served meal. Only once when my DD3 at the time wasn't charged, because the server saw that she LITERALLY didn't eat a thing.

Yes, that's the case at all prix fixe meals at WDW. If you're insistent, they will instead charge someone who doesn't eat anything a $5 entertainment charge. (They won't, however, come up with a medium price for someone who just eats or drinks a little.)
