So my mom has a question... can we use one of our meals to cover her and my dad at say Ohana, and have her use her DDE and pay for me and my husband at Germany? DH and I will have the meal plan, my mom and dad will be paying out of pocket with the DDE.

So does that mean next time we go, we can buy the dining plan for two of us and share meals? We were on the free dining plan, it was great, but we never eat that much food. I ended up getting lunch for a family who was buying because we had extra CS credits that we could not use up before our flight.

we were given a card by a family that was leaving, that had 14 TS meals on it but we were scared of beening caught to use it. :earseek:
They said they did not make PS and did not feel like waiting to eat.

No, you can't just buy a dining plan for 2 and then share meals. You have to buy the dining plan for everyone in the room. However, once you have the credits on your card, you can use those credits however you want, including by buying meals for others.

If you were given a card with credits on it, you need to know that those credits expire at midnight on the day of check out. So assuming the person giving away the card was on his/her last day, you'd only have till midnight to use up the credits. Not to mention how risky this is... besides the dining plan credits, the card has your room key info and room charging info. Room charges are possible until midnight of checkout day. So it's risky to hand your dining credits to a stranger, because you're also giving them access to your room charge priveleges.

One quick question, how would the resturants know if you didn't buy the plan for everybody in your party? I also hate the fact of having to buy and adult price for my 10 year old. My 6 year old out eats him, but still no wheres close to what an adult would eat. go figure :confused3

They'd know because you have to buy a package to get the dining plan. A package in their terms means a room plus tickets for all guests, although you can buy a 1 day ticket to make a package, unless they're under two years old, I think. If the kids are noted as being in the party on the reservation, you have to pay. They'd probably notice that you had two kids in a room that was on the books as two adults, but who knows.

I don't know what the logistics of not putting people in your room on the reservation are, since I don't have kids, someone else may be better able to handle that.

There's a lot of food on the dining plan, but I don't know if it's enough to feed two kids with two adult credits. Again, someone with children might be better able to field that one.

So if my card says 3 adults, 2 children. Can I use TS credits for 4 adults and 2 children at one meal? I want to use it for my mother.

TIA,

Lori

LadySoliel is correct. In order to get the dining plan, you have to buy a package. It's not the restaurants that would catch that you're not buying the plan for everyone in the room, it's the front desk. When you make a reservation, you have to list everyone in the room for the package. Everyone has to have the same options -- same tickets, same dining plan. I suppose you could just book the package for the adults, and buy the children's tickets separately, but then the children wouldn't have room keys for EMH. And I personally don't like to be dishonest.

Lori, yes, you could do what you are asking. You may run out of table service credits if you do it too many times, but what you are doing is fine. Once you've paid for the dining credits for everyone in your room, you can spend them however you like.

You can use 6 credits at a meal - you'll just have one less for another meal another day.....Your card won't say 3 adults, 2 children. It will say 5 points x the number of nights you are staying. So you have 5 credits to use on any TS restaurant for every night you stay. Covering your mom would be just fine. Just keep track of how many points you have and how many you want to use.

I see where you are coming from now. I think unless they do the free dining plan, we will end up skipping it next time. There is no way my older son will eat what an adult would, he can't even finish the kids meals, so I can't see paying for the extra adult. Oh well :)
