Traveling again with family! Always a treat but we have to be careful because sometimes too close is just too close! In the past we've always reserved separate studios because it's SMART! So now I'm ready to book and I'm booking a one bedroom for my husband and then a studio for my brother and guest. It just seems crazy not to book a 2 bedroom (at Boardwalk...I believe it's always a one bedroom connected to a studio). He's my brother so I could say "hey, we're all sharing this space but for the sake of privacy we're going to keep the door shut". No I guess I couldn't say that....Is there a way to define space boundaries while sharing space? I also admit to feeling a bit selfish in staying in a 1 bedroom while they're in a studio (but they are our points). Has anybody been there/done that? :3dglasses

I believe there are no dedicated two bedrooms at BWV so I think it would be fine. Any time we get a two bedroom with family we always get it so that they have the seperate studio side. They will have their own key to the studio. You could just say, you'll be right next door to us, and don't ever open the adjoining door. Since the seperate studio has the kitchenette, it always works well for our guests, so we don't have to worry about waking everyone in the morning while getting their breakfast. My parents are always up before us, so this allows them the freedom to come and go, get breakfast, walk around without bothering us. They prefer it that way I'm sure. So what if you are in the one bedroom, your offering them accomodations at WDW, and they are your points. I hope it works well. Have fun!

Well, what door?

I looked up a 2 bedroom at BW online here, and it seems it's the same concept as the 2 bedroom we stayed in at OKW.

It's not like the studio and bedroom part of the 1 bedroom are right up against each other...rather, you have the living room/kitchen in between. That gives you privacy already.

At OKW my little family had the master bedroom, and although the toilet part of the master bath was left open at night so that my aunt could use it if she wanted, the door from that area to the vanity/tub area was closed. My aunt was in the living room, and her daughter, daughter's hubby and their kids were in the studio part. The only one without much privacy was my aunt (but she's the earliest to wake so was never caught in a state of undress LOL).

So to me, a 2 bedroom already has privacy built in, in the form of that living room/kitchen area, especially if no one is staying in the living room.

Now, book the separate rooms if you want...we definitely considered it, but ultimately we didn't have any privacy problems, so we opted for a 2 bedroom again.

Good luck with your decision!

We have taken advantage of the lock off door before.

I'd rather the family think I'm rude than get into it with them. We prefer separate rooms but we have survived with the lock off!!!

We stayed in a 1br at VGC with B & SIL and another BIL..the B & SIL kind of invited themselves after we had already had a studio booked, so we tried to get a second studio, but they were sold out, so we upgraded to a 1BR, then other BIL came along at the last minute. They all loved it and we had a wonderful time! They did fine with the pull out and Murphy Bed, we got the master BR (no guilt..we had gone to an AI in Mexico a few years before, and booked our own room, but when we got there we somehow upgraded to the Presidential Suite..without our consent.. and B&SIL just naturally got the HUGE master BR with the only tub with no discussion, and that was fine, but since they were our points and everyone was just thrilled for a free room all were happy. The 1BR at VGC has 2 baths so we had our really nice large bath to ourselves, although certainly did offer it to anyone who wanted a bath and not a shower. The rooms were pretty far apart with the dining and kitchen area between, but we still closed our door at night..actually, we were much closer by way of balcony, and it was fun to stand there and watch WOC testing with our wine, then go through our own door back to our room and they went through their own door back to the living/sleeping area. We all felt like we had plenty of privacy, so a 2 BR would be even more private for all..

I really don't think it's a big deal. You're using your points so they'll most likely be happy with the room their given. You can always open the door if you want when you want. I personally would probably allow them to use the washer/dryer at least in the 1bdrm lol. But honestly I don't see anything wrong with keeping the door closed if that's what you want. :)

I wouldn't get the two bedroom if the other family wasn't going to be invited to use the living room with us.

Bobbi:goodvibes

I'd get the 2 bedroom and plan on sharing the living room area unless you need it for sleeping quarters. If you need to use the living room for sleeping quarters, I'd just give them the studio portion of the lock off and not mention that the door can be opened. Then maybe invite them in for breakfast or dinner when you choose.

We have had guests who have insisted on keeping the door between closed, and have knocked to gain access to the living room. Frankly, I was offended that they didn't feel they could use the living room. We have never had an issue with people not giving us or themselves privacy. If you need additional privacy, the bedroom provides that.

we have always shared a 2 bedroom. It works out but we usually always travel a lot. A dedicated 2 bedroom at AKL has a door for the master and the second bedroom so it does offer some privacy. But like a previous poster said, they are your points.:thumbsup2

OK! We're going with the 2 bedroom! Thanks AS ALWAYS for sharing your experiences and your opinions. :3dglasses
