Sharing DDP???

It IS, if the Guest doing the sharing is paying for their own food with Disney Dining Plan credits. Period. This is not an interpretation, or an opinion. It is a RULE, instituted by Disney.

Archaic indicates old. The Disney Dining Plan, and its rules and regulations, are current.

:rotfl: Katieeldr you and PP are stating the same thing. This thread has gotten pretty emotional. ;)

It typically does when folks start advocating doing things that are the same type of things that, for other Disney offerings, have tended to result in Disney changing its rules making thing worse for everyone. We keep a list of such offerings, and the changes Disney's implemented in response to abuse (or unintended exploitation):

Why does the fact that people provide the correct information regarding Disney's policies make them the "police".

The OP asked a question looking for information. People tried to provide the CORRECT answer for the OP to be helpful and people get upset at them for that. Why? Why would it bother someone if others give the answer per Disney's policy?

I don't see where sharing from a plate, as long as the restaurant permits it, is a breach of dining plan rules. If the restaurant doesn't permit it, then you won't be able to do it. I know I've gotten appetizers and desserts to split before.

Using dining plan credits to pay for a meal that is given in its entirety to someone who is not on your reservation or using the dining plan is not permitted, but that doesn't seem to be the question.

This thread is starting to become an argument.

Though I dont think the OP is trying to be "bad" just inquirring about the rules... Too me it seems like the OP is trying to "beat the system" and its not right they may or may not run into problems doing this... but to me its not worth the sleepless night and guilt of stealing... Pay for the dinning plan for them or have them pay OOP for thier food... What you are doing is trying to get 2 or 1 and thats not permitted.... and in my mind its wrong...

HOWEVER: sharing food with one another is ok in some of the ways mentioned on this thread... like if I get the cheese soup and hubby gets a salad and we share them that is fine in my eyes... or if hubby gets a steak cuts it in half and I trade him for 1/2 of my fish... there are two different SHARING...

It is the question. OP wants to give her parents food from her DDP. The parents are not on the plan. If the person is not on the DP then they don't get the food.

If they're not on the DDP she can't give them her CREDITS.

That's not the same as "can I share my entree with them."

Honestly? If this were my family, the parents would be buying their own entree. But I wouldn't have any problem with sharing an appetizer or dessert. If the restaurant says it's okay to share, then I don't have any problem with sharing.

So you are saying two people in one room can get the DDP. Two in another room do not get the DDP. All four people can share that DDP? The OP said they would get their own drinks but obviously plan on splitting two meals between 4 people? You actually think this is ok? I hardly think Disney thinks it's ok. LOL! I also didn't think the DIS allowed posts that try to go around the rules of the DDP. The DDP won't work for everyone. Obviously it isn't right for the OP if she has to try to find a way to use up all that food without wasting it. The DDP is not mandatory.

No. I am saying that if the restaurant permits it, they can share the food with the others at their table. If the restaurant doesn't permit it, then they can't share the food. If the restaurant won't give them a plate, then they can't share the food. I do agree the parents ought to order their own entrees.

I'd also hazard a guess that if you don't want your dessert, you can order it, then give it to the table next to you if that's what you want to do with it. Or you can take it home with you and let someone who isn't on the dining plan eat it.

We actucally seen this done on our last Minnie trip to WDW. We were eating at 50's prime time and the couple at the table next to us asked the waiter (aka, brother will) if he could take one of their desserts to the table acrossed the room from us. They had 3 of the cutest lil boys. The Waiter just smiled and took it over and said this is a special delivery from Mickey himself. It was the "Dad Sundae"...the thing was HUGE! We had a blast just watching the boys eat it and they were all smiles and giggles when Mickey sent that to them. :cutie:

I think the nature of what kind of sharing is what is important here. Of course my family and I will take bites of each other's food- and share it- but we all ordered a meal.

But when looking at a dining plan- where each person gets so many meals- and then you are going to use said amount of meals to feed a group- that gets a little much. The whole idea of the plan is really per person. To the posters that stated that they share meals on the dining plan- the difference is- all of you are on the dining plan- you all paid your certain $ per day- and then you use those credits that each person PAID for as you see fit.

As to the food wasting- it is a very sad and tragic fact about how much food gets wasted in our country. But I think to use that as a rationalization to cheat someone else (in this case Disney- and I know they have plenty of money, blah, blah, blah)- it really is still cheating.

To the OP- I don't think you intended this as a discussion on morality on the dining plan and just had a question. I was really just answering the various conversations that ensued from your original post.
