Sharing credits...another question?

We've been to Disney several times but this is our first time with the free dining plan... I've been reading & trying to figure out the best plan of action... I am bringing DH, DD (16 who eats next to nothing), DS (normal to heavy eater), DS (12, normal eater) and DD's boyfriend (18, bottomless pit). So here is my question...

-- can we share a TS credit at Narcoossee's and Mama Melrose (say use 3-4 TS credits out of the normal 6)? I have a feeling the portions are going to be way more than we can eat, plus I'd lot to save a couple TS credit's...

I know we can't share at buffets/family style meals, but wasn't sure about those two. I do have a ressie at T-Rex (not sure if the kids will be too old to enjoy it???) and I do plan on sharing there, plus using the landry's card to order an extra entree or appetizer...

Thanks so much for all of your help, my family and i have had a lot of fun reading reviews and looking at pictures of the food... I think they're more excited to eat than they are to "see" Disney!

I didn't think sharing was allowed with TS credits. Just to make sure I'm clear; four people could eat at LC, TD and RC and use just three of our TS credits for each meal? We would be using a total of nine TS credits instead of twelve?
Just trying to be sure :)

Sharing is generally fine unless it is at a buffet, a family style all you can eat restaurant, or a fixed price restaurant. Having a brain freeze and can't figure out what TD is, but Le Cellier, and Rainforest Cafe, you should be able to do what you are suggesting. Actually I am not absolutely sure about Rainforest Cafe. I also have seen that Via Napoli does not allow sharing credits and will ask that everyone on DDP order a meal.

Sorry. Tokyo Dining. I could probably call Rainforest at DTD. Thanks!

We shared with no problem at Rainforest at Animal Kingdom. :)

I think sharing will ultimately depend on the server and the day.

A couple thoughts though:
Narcossee's - Is 2 credits per person - so that's 12 total, not 6.

Honestly if you have 1 huge eater, a regular eater and a heavy eater in your party I think you will have difficulty splitting 3 - 4 meals, as I'm thinking those three mentioned will eat their whole meal alone. That will leave 1 meal to split between all the rest, which isn't really feasible.

At most TS places, I haven't found the portions to be really huge - it only ends up being A LOT of food when you factor in the dessert. So splitting 1 meal between two small appetites is likely fine. But I think splitting will be more difficult than you think among that many people.

Since you say it's your first time with the DP I will tell you that I don't find splitting TS meals necessary for my family, but we do split CS meals frequently. Everyone will be full enough just eating their own one CS and one TS credit per night that I don't ever find the need to schedule additional TS places.

I was worried about splitting meals, so that makes me wonder. At Narcoossee's I was hoping to scrape by by using 4 (a.k.a 8 credits since it's a signature rest.) people's dining credits. If my kids (and DH!) didn't LOVE LOVE LOVE their expensive seafood and steaks I'd just take it out of the schedule. So many decisions.... ugh!

Thanks again for everyone's help!

You can always use 4 credits for the lobster and surf & turf, while supplementing a bit oop on a couple cheaper dishes. And then easily share desserts.

We have done the dining plan a few times and my kids both eat like birds. They shared at alot of meals. It was no problem at Mama Melrose, Le Cellier, Kona Cafe, Sci Fi, Coral Reef, Tutto, Whispering Canyon (basically anything that wasn't a buffet). It was the perfect amount of food, and allowed us to do a couple of extra TS meals!

Wow!

I was never aware that this was allowed.... It almost makes it worth it to do the DDP with our daughter.

Following this thread because I am helping plan the dining reservations for a Sept trip my son and his aunts (my 2 sisters) are going on. My son is 10 so will have adult credits but the reservations I am getting are not all buffets. They are staying DVC so I broke the reservation down into 2 reservations of 2 days each and they were just going to buy the dining plan for 2 days. They arrive late on a Thur nite and will leave after breakfast on a Mon. So the plan was to have the dining plan from Thur to midnight Saturday and I was going to make 2 reservations, one for Fri and one for Sat. Was going to go with Rainforest Cafe at Animal Kingdom and Garden Grille but then I was able to get a Le Cellier lunch reservation. Thinking I might drop Garden Grille since my son and one of my sisters was just there this past June and if doing ordering off the menu, it might work out better if my son, a small eater, just pays out of pocket for kids' meals. So with 6 adult sit down credits I am thinking it might be better to change the room reservation to 1 nt/2 nts/1 nt so that they can get the dining plan for the middle section of 2 nts, so for Fri/Sat nites, meaning they can use the credits from Fri check-in to midnight Sunday and they can plan for 1 sit down meal each day Fri/Sat/Sun using 2 adult credits for each meal and paying out of pocket for my son's kids' meals. This should work, right?

I notice people are saying you can share at Mama Melrose, which is true if it's just a regular reservation, but if it's the Fantasmic pkg, I believe they will take a credit for each person.
