I have a friend who called Disney about a code that I received and they told her that she could use the code. She would have to link her reservation with mine through out TA.

Here is the thing she is staying at a different resort and is going down after we arrive and leaving before us, so basically our dates don't match.

The code is a 15 numerical code that came in the mail for my daughter who is 6....yes 6 don't understand that one. It states it is for free quick service with a purchase of accomodations and theme park tickets but my TA said it was a code for kids eat play and stay for free.

I told her I didn't think this was allowed not to mention I already have 2 other room reservations linked to mine. She says she is going to call to see if Disney will allow a 3rd room ressie.

Please give me your thoughts.

As long as they don't bill you for your friend's trip, why not?

However, that might mean you get next year's pin code with her name on it...

It not that I wouldn't want to help her out it is that I didn't think this could be done and just wanted feedback as to if anyone else has encountered that.

I like you thought process though in regards to the pin code. :thumbsup2

The room would have to be linked to you...it would be under your reservation. That's the only way she'd be able to "use" it, though in reality, you'd be the one who is using it because the reservation is under your name. She would not be able to use the PIN on her own. PINs generally allow up to 3 rooms booked.

Whoever has the PIN can book up to 3 rooms and they are actually seperate reservations but booked by the PIN holder. We have done this a few times (actually the last 2 trips) My daughter booked 2 rooms for Feb using her PIN and used 2 different CCs to charge the deposits. Last May we booked 2 on my PIN they were also 2 seperate reservations.

I wasn't referring to all rooms being one reservation as a whole, I was talking about the reservation being under the PIN holder's name...which is what you seem to be describing. If your daughter had a PIN and used it to book separate rooms, that's fine...she's still considered the "primary" since she's the one who booked the ressies. In this case, the OP's friend wants to take advantage of the PIN, but because she is not the PIN holder, she cannot do it on her own. The OP would need to do it (or in this case, the TA under the OP's name) so that it's linked together. If the PIN holder has absolutely nothing to do with the reservation other than just passing it along for someone else to use, there would be no need for number specific PIN codes, they might as well all be public offers. That was my main point. :)

So what happens when they apply the PIN to two separate reservations paid for with two separate credit cards, and then you cancel one of them?

I'm not quite sure I understand...what happens when you cancel one of the reservations? Then that reservation is canceled. Did you mean something else?

I'm thinking the pp was trying to skirt around not being the holder of the pin....have the pin holder book two rooms, then have the pin holder cancel his/her own room. Effectively, giving a non pinholder the room at the pinholder rate. I'm not sure how, but I bet that won't fly.

Yes I see what you're saying. You're right...it won't fly. If the person who has the PIN is not attached somehow to the reservation, the PIN cannot be used.

ToddlerTN, I believe you've already been informed about that on another thread regarding work arounds dealing with PIN sharing.

Gee, thanks Mom. :snooty:

In a thread titled "Sharing Codes" the question was relevant. I'd hate to see the OP's vacation cancelled because it's tied to a friend's PIN, especially when her friend's plans don't align with hers at all. When you let a friend book your vacation, you're at their mercy--if their plans change, so do yours. That was my point, so save the sermon for someone else.

And by the way, in that thread you linked to, it was someone else who asked if it was possible to use someone else's PIN code, and yet a different person who posted a way to "cheat the system." I'm the one who said it was unethical, so get your facts straight.

4. NO FIGHTING/SARCASM: While we'd like to think that a Disney fan site is always lighthearted, there are times when there are disagreements. Let's face it, there are certain topics that can transform any of us into a raging "Donald Duck." When you sense this is happening, we ask that you step away from the discussion before it escalates into a fight. Just like Mom always said about fighting, we don't care who started the argument and we don't want it on the DIS. (Okay, she didn't say the part about the DIS, but you know what we mean.) No attacking others and no sarcasm please. Either will result in an infraction

11. DISCOUNT CODES: As mentioned above, the DIS is all about planning a Disney vacation. On occasion, Disney does release discounts which usually can be obtained via a code. This information will be available in our Discounts section. However, Disney also sends mailings to specific individuals/target groups which contain a discount that can only be obtained with a PIN (personal identification number.) If you receive one of these offers, please do not share your PIN/Code on the DIS for others to use. We respect the fact that these offers are not for the general public and will remove any posts that include this information. Understand that this action is for your protection. For example, say you use Mrs. Smith's code. When you check in and are asked to produce proof that you are Mrs. Smith and cannot do so, you will be charged the full rate.

A gentle reminder to all.

Thx.
