Sharing at restaurants?

Let me preface this by saying we are not on the dining plan. I made some dinner reservations at Jiko, YSH, CG. How are they about sharing? Would it be ok if we got an appetizer and an entree to share or 2 appetizers and an entree. We will also be ordering food for our DS5 and DS7, that never seem to finish their food, but love the process of dining and ordering food. So I know that there will be plenty of food for the 4 of us to share around the table, I just didn't know if not ordering appetizer, entree and dessert each was frowned upon. Last year we dined at CG, and everything was wonderful, but we were on the dining plan and it was just an insane amount of food. Their flatbreads were pretty big to be considered a meal in itself, and that was only an appetizer. I am really trying to watch what I eat these days, and I would just hate to waste a lot of food, and my money. Thanks for listening and if anyone has any experience with this, please let me know.:)

We shared "Taste of Africa" at Jiko among 5 people, and DH and I shared the chicken. Nobody batted an eyelash and our service was spectacular.

It's my understanding that all restaurants are like this at Disney. So go - share have fun!

We frequently share at the finer restaurants at WDW, as we are light dinner eaters and we enjoy the variety of appetizers. We split appetizer, salad and main course at Spoodles with no problem. The places where it is probably not allowed are restaurants like O'Hana and Cape May Cafe, where the buffet is per person.

It's a downfall of mine that I always forget to mention that. To me it's just something that I know, so I forget to mention it, but buffets, Shows, Pre-Plated, Family Style Restaurants, etc do not allow sharing.

DD, DH, and I ALWAYS share at WDW- never had any restaurant refuse or make us feel uncomfortable. DD is a small eater, but very adventurous- she doesn't "do" kid meals. We just share what we get with her. The servings are mostly pretty large, so we don't go away feeling like we need another meal.

Between the 3 of us, we get 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, and sometimes 1 dessert. Of course, we do tip accordingly- the server gets a larger % than normal. We feel we should "pay" for the extra person who isn't ordering an entree.

Is this the same on the DDP? There are a couple times we were hoping to share meals but have never tried. Do you know if this is allowed on the DDP as well?

Good point. We also tip heavier when we share.

Yes, we have been able to share one TS between us. That is allowed as long as you both ARE on the dining plan. You just can't share with a person who is not on the DDP. We shared at PrimeTime 50's, and Coral Reef. I ordered the Cobb Salad at Brown Derby and shared that with my mother who used 2 TS for a meal. We BOTH were on the DDP.

DH & I went to Beaches & Cream on our last trip with the intention of just splitting the No Way Jose, but after seeing the burger at the table next to us, decided we needed to share one of those too. The waitress was nice enough to bring out two separate plates, each with half of the burger and a portion of the fries. We didn't even have to ask, she just brought it out that way. I guess they are probably used to these types of requests.

We found the portions to be the largest at Mama Melrose's at DHS. The pasta dishes are quite large and very sharable. The shrimp/seafood pasta was delicious! If you're not into the pasta, I would say it would be a great meal if you wanted to split a flatbread pizza, or if you ordered two flatbread pizzas for three people.

Like many other TS at WDW, the meal does come with free bread, which I believe they refilled upon request. We also split the calamari rings for an appetizer, with a tomato dipping sauce, and it was very good.

Oh, good to know. We are ALL on the DDP, but have an extra meal scheduled we were going to pay OOP, but maybe we will share one place and save a credit or two or the otehr restaurant.
Thanks...
