I just read in another thread that someone has been able to share a TS meal on the DDP? Please, no flames... I was just wondering... We only have free dining for part of our stay (I added extra days) and if this was so, it would help us immensely! I am so sorry if this is against the rules, to post!?!?

Ok, I see the answer in the 2008 DDP FAQ sticky thread... So have a lot of you had luck with it? if so, at what restaurants?

I haven't tried, but I wanted to be sure that you were not hoping to make the dining credits last your entire trip. They will all expire at midnight of the day you "check out" of your dining package. For example, if your free dining package ends on a Tuesday, you can't use leftover credits on Wednesday. They will zero out on Tuesday at midnight.

Your SC, CS and TS are going to expire @ 12 midnight the checkout date of your free DDP, so you won't be able to use these when you check back in for the days without the DDP. You won't be able to spread the credits over the 2 different reservations as far as I would think. As for sharing for TS never tryed it on any of the 3 trips we made having the DDP, but I would make sure that if you save any credits for the second reservation that you don't loose them.:cool1: :hippie:

I haven't, but most restaurants would likely let you do it. But you do understand that any credits you have are valid from the moment you check in for your package until midnight of the day you check out, right? You know you can't use them before you check in, or on any days following your package? That you can't 'save' credits to use during your room-only reservation?

Thanks guys... I know I can't make them last the entire trip (although I will be in the parks the day I check out of my DDP package ressie and will be using what I have left over), but I have so many restaurants I want to try that sharing a TS would definitely help... especially since I'm not a big eater! I check out of the DDP ressie on the morning of the 15th, will be at parks all day, using DDP credits, then leave WDW for good on the 16th... I plan on using up my snack credits on the 15th for breakfast items I can keep in the fridge for the next morning... I definitely know that my DDP credits will expire (darn! :))

My children shared, during free DDP, and it was even suggested by one of the servers at a 2 TS no less. :thumbsup2

Do you have your ADR's for your TS restaurants? They're going fast.

Yep, I do... :) I was thinking of upgrading to DxDp, but it's not really worth it for me... DH, yes... me, no... I think I'm just gonna plan on using 2 TS per TS we have ADRs for and pay OOP while sharing some of the cheaper ADRs we have (50's PTC)...

So glad to hear that you can share some meals. We are not big eaters and don't want to waste food. I had planned on us sharing some TS meals, not buffets of course, but other meals.

We are two seniors, 60+ and we had the dining plan for 3 nights. We shared some TS in order to save up to eat at the CG which required 2 TS each. We had no problems sharing.....

^ I also have a signature restuarant ADR and that is another reason I wanted to share.... I just can't decide: share, pay OOP, upgrade... I'm going !! :rotfl:

Just to mention, portion sizes at most signature dining is not huge and most regular TS have downsized the portions as well. Be prepared for that, as many are saying that they have seen a drastic cut in portion sizes. Of course a 6 oz steak is a 6 oz steak, but overall the presentation and quality of ingredients drive the siganature TS while perhaps WDW responded to the "too much food" by creating smaller portions at the traditional TS locations.

I figured I would add an appetizer to each meal (roughly $10 OOP) to accomodate for the sharing of a TS meal... I've been looking at menus on here to decide what we would share and it seems very possible... but I do believe we'll each use our allotted TS meals and just pay OOP for like 50s PTC and something like the Plaza or Tony's (this is the ADR) I still need to get... if not, no biggie! :)

If you have more meals planned than credits, Plaza is a great place to pay OOP. We love it, but it really is more like CS deluxe so not the most economical use of a TS credit. 50's and Tony's would depned on what time you eat lunch or dinner and which items are your favorite things to order.

After looking at the menus for 50's PTC and Tony's I think we could definitely go "cheap" at either place... We have a lunch ADR at PTC and I really just want a milkshake and smores... :rotfl: I guess I'd order something else though!

That is odd. This is the first time I have heard of this.

I was always under the impression that you had to have 1 or 2 credits per person when you ate at a TS restaurant.

Rob :)

This is definitely why I posted this... I thought for sure WDW would require a TS per person (or 2 if it's a signature restaurant)... Who would've thunk it, huh?? :)

I hear ya. That's why this thread confused me.

Never heard of that before today. I guess it can't hurt to try.

Disney is pretty flexible about sharing meals (for the most part; there've been rare reports of everyone being required to order their own meals) at menu service locations. Now, naturally, sharing is NOT possible at buffets or pre-plated all you care to eat locations - and you can't share something like the WCC Skillet... but mostly, yeah, it's fine to share - as long as you're not sharing with Guests not on the Dining Plan.
