Are 2 adults allowed to share 1 meal at a sit down restaurant and only use 1 credit? (not buffet-I know that's not allowed!)!

Where do you get that? YES, you can share a meal even on the DDP. There are a handful of restaurants that will not let you, but 99% of them WILL let you share a meal and use one credit.

Where are you thinking of doing this? Via Napoli is one place that absolutely will NOT let you share, but as I said, most places will.

Thanks so much! I'm not sure where I was thinking of sharing... Of course, Via Napoli was one menu I was looking at and thinking that a dinner might be large enough to share there.. Lol....

DH and I are in the beginning stages of planning an adult only trip...

As sharonable said, you will be able to share at most table service restaurants where you order from a menu. This is a great option if someone isn't too hungry or if you are saving credits for a 2 credit meal.

Via Napoli is the one restaurant that will not allow sharing when using dining credits. If ordering pizza you are limited to the personal size and cannot combine credits for the larger sizes. You can, however, order any of the non-pizza entrees if you prefer, but again, no using one credit for 2 people. Occasionally someone will post that another restaurant (mainly not Disney owned) or server would not allow sharing when using credits.

As you said, you cannot share and everyone will be charged a credit at buffets and also at all you care to eat family style meals (e.g. 'Ohana, Garden Grill), the 3 dinner shows (Hoop De Doo, Spirpt of Aloha Luau, Mickey's Backyard Barbecue), fixed price meals (e.g. CRT, Akershus, Fantasmic and Candlelight Processional dining packages), special events (e.g. fireworks parties, F&W premium events) and the Family Platter at Whispering Canyon Cafe.

Thanks for the link.... I must have missed it while searching before posting.

Yes - and you can also always opt to pay out of pocket for an appetizer, side, dessert, or less expensive item (sandwich, salad, burger, etc.) to help your dining credits go farther! (at most restaurants with a few exceptions as previously mentioned) We will be doing this at some restaurants so we can use 2 TS credits for the candlelight processional (which cannot be shared).

Excellent! I think we will be doing this for sure!!!

We shared a lot of meals on our trip a few years ago to stretch our free dining credits. We successfully shared meals at Kona, 50's Prime Time, Rose & Crown, BOG (lunch) & WPE (dinner). We also used a combo of dining plan credits & paying OOP at Via Napoli. DH & I used credits for our meals & we paid OOP for a large pizza for my 3 boys to split.

Thanks for this info! I was wondering which places people found that were good for sharing...

I don't understand.... if it's a Family Platter (I'm assuming it's the All-you-care-to-enjoy-skillet), why can't you share that? Is there a difference if you pay it OOP or DDP? Thanks.

If it is "all you care to enjoy," it is treated as equivalent to a buffet because it's bottomless. No sharing. Doesn't matter if it's DDP or OOP.

You answered your own question. It's all you can eat; you can't share all you can eat whether you go to buffet or they bring it to you. Everyone who eats from it must pay or use a credit.

You CAN share the platter, but everyone has to pay. Since OP was asking about using 1 credit for 1 meal to share, you could not do that with a Family Platter meal. You would need to use 2 credits for 2 people, 3 credits for 3 people, and so on.

This. I think there was some confusion about the wording. The whole family can share a family style meal but it requires a credit/payment for each person. :)

Besides buffets and family style restaurants and Via Napoli, what other restaurants is sharing definitely not allowed on the DP? DH and I are not big eaters and in the past we have always shared QS, but I didn't realize you could (sometimes) share TS on the DP. This may be a lest wasteful option for us.
