Shares, shares, shares please help !!

...sorry and another question: the shareholders info says: 'Please note that electronic prints of online statements are not accepted.' Does that mean I can't fax a printout of my Halifax contract note?

Appreciate the assistance!

I'd take that to mean your bank statement as even it shows monies going out for the shares it doesn't prove that you went through with the sale

Your contract note would be proof that it is a done deal. :)

As to where you'd find it I haven't a clue as I prefered an AP over shares...have you done a search on the forum as I've seen this come up before ? Otherwise someone will be along I bet before too long ;)

Its in "My Statements" at the bottom & The print out was fine:)
(i didn't get that either) well done so far:banana:

Afternoon!

Ok, I've now bought 20 shares, on the Friday £5 Halifax special! I now need a 'contract note' to be able to send off to the Shareholders Club - where can I find that to print out, please?

Thanks!

Its in your online account - I can't quite remember where, but it does show as your contract note, and you can print it off :)

faxes are generally accepted by the shareholders club, but if you are in any doubt give them a call, they are very helpful on the phone.

If I remember rightly, on the left hand column click on 'My statements' then 'Dealing History' and then on the far right hand side if you click on the Reference it pops up your contract note for you to print!

Hi
I've been looking at this for the past week or so as I stumbled across another thread about the shares! Checking the price today and how it's been slowly sliding all week, it's currently sitting at €4.15 per share... maybe I'm totally missing something but if you buy them at the Halifax £5 Friday share deal, are you not paying way too much per share compared with the actually market value?

Sorry, if I've missed something, just wondering before I buy! :thumbsup2

you're paying the market value of the shares, same as every other sharedealing company, but the buying fee on top, which is the same regardless of how many shares you buy, is only £5 on Fridays with the Halifax - usually this fee is £11.95 :) - and is way cheaper than other sharedealing companies buying fees.

Blimey, I think this is the most friendly forum I've come across- thank you for the speedy replies; I've found the contract note now :)

To the last poster (apologies, am posting from my phone and can't see your name now), the £5 is the fee Halifax charge for the transaction- it is usually a fair amount more than that. You pay this amount per transaction, whether it be 20 shares or 200. The share price seems good just now so I'd go for it, if I were you!

Thanks for the replies! :) I was sitting wondering about why pay £5 for shares that are currently sitting at €4.24 (rose 9cents since my previous post! ;) ) but it makes sense now! Thanks again!
I'll have to make a move now and grab some while they are still at a good price!

I also purchase on Friday to take advantage of the £5 dealing fee and the slide in price from the beginning of the week! All in all, 20 shares for £79.01! Form and contract note in the post tomorrow!

Ooh, I'm definitely going to get me some shares before our trip in February - this is a really useful thread so thanks in advance!

Hi

i think I've decided to buy some shares. Does anyone know if it's still only £5 to trade on a Friday?

And did anyone write a dummies guide to buying shares at all. I'm getting rather confused.

Thanks

Stacey

Yep, its still £5 to trade on a Friday until 21/10/11.
Open a Halifax Share Dealing Acc, deposit some money into it, select the shares you want, it will say something like £11.75 or £17 transaction fee but ignore this it WILL go through at £5. (I did panic a little)!!
Once you have purchased the shares on the right hand side there will be a link to a contract note, print this out. Go to the Disney Shareholders site, complete the online application form, then print it out, sign it and attach your contract note -then send or fax it off.
I sent it by post and had a confirmation email with my shareholders card number in 3 days !!
It was much much easier than I imagined.
Hope this helps

Hi Lollipops
We have booked the Eurostar but not the Hotel yet, we hope to stay at NYH but if a flash sale comes up maybe DLH !! :woohoo: But if the offers go down who knows !!! I am holding out for a flash sale/better offer ... fingers crossed! Last time we stayed at the Santa Fe, which was fine but it was -7 degrees and this time I wanted something closer. I would def go for Sante Fe again if it was a summer trip.
Where are you going to stay ?

I were to buy some shares now, would I be able to use the discounts when we go in 3 weeks? I'm guessing I would not have the card by then.

You would have to get the paperwork faxed off straight away & they will issue you a contract note which is a temporary pass to allow your discounts.

This may be a bit of an odd question but I do not hold any sort of card, but my husband has a natwest visa debit card can I use his card but put the shares in my name.

Thanks
