Shares, shares, shares please help !!

I know this has been posted a few times, so maybe someone can give me a link to the right place? Im looking to buy 20 shares asap and the share accounts are confusing the hell out of me ! please can anyone help (thank you) x

I opened a Halifax Sharedealing account online, then buy 20 Euro Disney S.C.A, i had to take extra i.d into the local branch ( i don't have a bank account there) they just faxed it off & i was ready to go, all quite easy from there good luck!
Then you maybe know this you print off a membership form from the disney website fill it in & print off a copy of your contract note as proof of your shares & take it to the post office to post ( i nearly put a stamp on and chucked it in the box don't tell anyone!) They sent me an email the same week to say my card would be with me in a few weeks!

P.S they have a deal on at the moment where the fee is £5 when you trade on a friday!

Hi Lollipops, thanks for that, I have opened my Halifax Acc, quite painless LOL ! but I cant find any info on the £5 friday charge ??? it is coming up with a £17.50 fee ?? I thought it was £11.95 ?? have you experienced this ? thanks for all your help x

No problem, i found the whole thing a bit mind bending at first!
Now i find it quite interesting watching them! i bought the first ones with my sons money as alittle investment for him & the discounts of course, may buy some more for my daughter if they are still a good price on friday fingers crossed!

I think we should make up badges that say "I survived buying Eurodisney SCA shares"!!

Its baffling but good work on getting sorted. Now just wait for the card and think of all the savings!

Good idea! there should be a sticky with an idiots guide to buying shares! no offence anyone! i totally stumbled through it, when i had bought my shares i rang Halifax ( as one of the first people i had spoken to at Halifax had told me to do) the man didn't have a clue! thought i had bought the wrong thing didn't realise i could use a printed off contract note

i've bought a new laptop for some reason i can't get back in to my account had to fire up my not very good old laptop to get in something to do with settings or something will have a look today
I am planning my first trip to disney in june and am totally obsessed
not even booked yet!

Thanks to everyone for helping me .....I have just purchased 20 shares woooohooo!! I did it !! and with Halifax Shares Acct it only cost me £5 as its friday.... total cost £98. Application form and contract note in post. I am quite proud of myself now

how much discount do you get? how many shares do you need to buy?

If you buy 5 shares or more you also have to pay a 30E fee, if you buy 20 or more the membership is free. The discounts are mainly .... 15% of meals and 10% off bookings, i think its 15% off merchandise and you can use Salon Mickey 9-12 daily for a drink and cookie. There are more discounts (not that I would use them).

I purchased my shares on Friday, posted the application form and contract note on Friday, yesterday I had an email with my Shareholder Card Number and my card is in the post - what fast service!!!!! Well done Disney x

Also I just wanted to add (although its not always true) I booked in December using my shareholders discount and it worked out cheaper than the package price.

I had an Annual Pass from June so we didnt need tickets and the price online for 4 nights 12th Dec was coming up at £303 based on 1 adult(others Id add on check in free). However shareholders discount when I checked got us all in for £270! So a £33 unexpected saving.

Iv heard it doesnt happen a lot but always worth a call.

And PS you got a good deal. I bought 5 shares with Halifax in May and paid around £60!!! Plus E30 fee for the shareholders!

Would love to build this up to 20 so might sneak some more if I can remember my log on details hehe!

Just a warning though... Be prepared to start feeling like a VIP walking round like you own the place haha!!! Once that Gold cards in your hands you just want to flash it to everyone!!!

Oh and the pastries in Salon Mickey with chocolate and nuts on the top are the best(amazing) so anyone going 12th-16th December better not even think of eating mine!!!

Great will try the shareholders line when we book! just waiting (in hope) for a better offer (flash sale maybe)? we have booked our Eurostar and ..... we may even see you - we are going 11th - 14th December !! woohooo !!

I wouldn't say they have dropped dramatically, only €1 in light of the financial markets taking a massive hit that is very minimal

Ok, I've now bought 20 shares, on the Friday £5 Halifax special! I now need a 'contract note' to be able to send off to the Shareholders Club - where can I find that to print out, please?
