The annual Shareholders meeting is in Anaheim this year. I have never been to one. Is it worth going (taking a day off work)? Do they have any perks? Any special announcements? etc.

Thanks

I was going through mail yesterday and came across the shareholder meeting info. I just happen to have a trip to Anaheim planned - arriving on the 9th! I'm bringing the admission ticket with me...just in case I get the urge to go to the annual meeting..but think I'd rather go to the theme parks that day!

Definitely worth going to, particularly this one, it being Robert Iger's first as CEO, and Steve Jobs now being on the board of directors since the acquisition of Pixar. Based on past experience they'll have lots of interesting presentations about new projects, and there will likely be a nice perk, such as a one day pass to one of the parks. It's this Friday at the Anaheim Pond (of Anaheim ;) ) at 9am. You'll need the invitation you got by being a stockholder - it's not a public event even though there will be a large crowd there.

Any idea how long the meetings usually last? And - what should I wear?

The info I have says the meeting starts at 10 a.m.

Just re-read my admission ticket. Registration begins at 8 a.m., seating at 9 a.m., and the meeting starts at 10 - so guess I'd better get there early.

Now - for the really important question.....do they serve any food? :rotfl2:

I attended the meeting this morning. As hoped, each attendee was given a one day ticket to DL or DCA. New CEO Robert Iger spoke at length, and he does seem to be on top of things. He explained that once the acquisition of Pixar is formally completed that Steve Jobs would be on the board of directors, but that hasn't happened yet and Jobs was not there. Neither was Eisner - I thought they might do some sort of tribute to his legacy, but on second thought maybe it was best to let it be Robert Iger's show and just look forward. Iger did have a bit of fun talking about bringing the Oswald the Rabbit films back into the fold. John Lasseter spoke as well, and he seems to a fun guy who's very excited about the road ahead. He showed the Cars theatrical trailer as well as a funny clip, and then showed a trailer for the next movie, Ratatouille (sp?), about a rat in France. Lasseter gave Iger a big endorsement. The biggest rounds of applause were for the acquisition of Pixar, for Steve Jobs himself, and for Roy Disney, who was introduced alog with a couple of other directors emeritus. I left as the "business" portion of the meeting was starting, so maybe I missed some good stuff. If so maybe someone else could fill us in.
