yeah I know. Thats why I wasn't sure if I could laugh or not. ;)

Heh, I wouldn't have questioned whether to laugh or not. I would laugh, naturally. The question on my mind however, would be whether I am laughing at or with the person. lol.

I like writing stories. I get ideas, I write them down, then I amek a story.

I like to question the at or with part first. then I'll laugh no matter the answer. lol

Either way, we both end up laughing...then, in a minute or so, it isn't funny anymore lol.

Well, my teachers always want me to write alot, even if I don't have any ideas. Mr Foley and Mrs. Sieve are the ones who liked my writing the most... I wrote a story based off a real event (WW2) in the view of a dog. Yup, a dog. If i can find the orig. I'll post it... And Mrs. Sieve liked acouple haikus I made and published them in the school newspaper. I do like to write, but only when I can choose what I want to do.

I have more fun when I'm given a topic to write about.

I've written short stories before. I think the longest was about fifty pages. The shortest was a few paragraphs. My favorite thing to write would have to be things that actually happened to me, or my opinions on a topic. I had a poetry phase and I wrote litterally HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS of poems. I got one or two published. Now I'm really just writing about my own life.

Published?

Ok, people, here is something i wrote in 6th grade and don't laugh at me because i really don't think it was good, It was about a super hero and if you put a "bad guy" in it it was extra credit so there is a bad guy and the story is different but you can read it I guess... :sunny:

How Misty Ended the Drought

Marie went to her mom who was watching the rain. Marie asked her mom, “Why are you watching the rain?” Marie’s mom replied, “I was just thinking of a story my grandmother told me.” “Can you tell me the story?” asked Marie excitedly. “All right. Here it goes.”
One misty, humid, night a box was dropped off at a doorstep. The box had a letter attached that read, “Dear person—I trust my fragile item will be in safe hands. Thanks for taking care of it. Please call it ‘Misty.’ --From, @#$#(@ (The last word was unreadable.)
The next morning, Layla (the woman whose house the box was dropped off at) opened her front door and heard crying from inside the box. She looked at the letter and said, “Wow! My oh my—Misty, you’re going to love it here!” Layla then opened the box to find a small, wet baby girl.

***Seven and a half years later***

Layla was walking out of the house to watch eight year old Misty playing in the sprinkler. When it was time for Misty to come in, Layla went to unscrew the hose that was supposed to be connected to the sprinkler. When Layla got to the water faucet, she realized the hose wasn’t connected to the faucet. “Oh my gosh!” exclaimed Layla.
“What?” asked Misty innocently.
“There’s water coming out of the sprinkler but no hose attached for water to flow,” said a puzzled Layla.
“Oh, “ mumbled Misty.
“How is this happening, Misty? How is this extraordinary phenomenon happening?” Layla questioned.
“Well,” replied Misty. “I was trying to get the sprinkler to work but it didn’t, so I pointed my finger and told it to work. When I pointed my finger, water came out!”
“Wow,” said Layla. “This must be a dream. Let’s just go inside for a nap. Maybe this never happened.”
“All right,” said a wet Misty.

****Eight years later****

After putting on her P.E. uniform, Misty ran out to the track where she was supposed to run a mile. As she ran down the straightaway, she said to her friend, “Wow, it’s been really dry lately, hasn’t it? Look at all the brown grass and leafless trees.”
Her friend replied, “Yea, I’m really thirsty. Good thing I brought a water bottle! I heard that some dude named Droughty was making a drought. He’s supposed to live on the Cruel Plateau.”
“Gosh—you really read a lot of Internet boards! We don’t have a lot of water because it’s so expensive,” said Misty. “I’ve been thirsty a lot lately.”
Suddenly Misty fell to the ground and fainted because of dehydration. During her faint she had a dream. It was about an evil man named Droughtyman. Everyone just called him Droughty, though. He was making everywhere in the world have a drought by shooting fire out of his fingers. Then a mysterious girl came and made the drought go away by squirting water at Droughty. After Droughty was defeated by melting from the water, the mysterious girl squirted water all over the place and everything was watered and fine again.
When Misty woke up from the dream in the school nurse’s office, she thought about when she was eight years old and squirted water out of her fingers to make the sprinkler work. She imagined that she could be the mysterious girl. It was then that she notice a little bit of water dripping off her fingers.
“Wow! Cool!” she exclaimed out loud.
Misty returned home and told Layla that she was going to the park. Layla thought that since Misty was sixteen, she could leave. Instead of actually going to the park, Misty drove off to the Cruel Plateau, where Droughty supposedly lived. When she arrived, she saw Droughty shooting flames out of his fingers and making everything dry.
Misty snuck up behind him, hoped to herself that her plan would work, and shot water out of her fingers at Droughty. He screamed and started to melt because of the water.
“Ha!” shouted Misty. “I AM the mysterious girl from my dream!” Then she squirted water at everything and watched as the world turned green again.
When she arrived home, she noticed that her powers had even gone as far as her neighborhood. Everyone was outside enjoying the weather and nobody suspected that Misty had saved the town.

“So Marie, time for bed. That story lasted forever,’ said Marie’s mom, tiredly.
“Mommy,” said Marie.
“Yes?”
“Is that how the droughts go away?”
“Yes Marie, that’s how droughts go away.”

Right now i am writing a book. I've written about 8 pages. (yes i know that's not very much but i'm working on it.) I'd tell u guys about it but i don't want anyone to steal my ideas. i also have written a school paper.

I refuse to put any piece of my "serious" writings on the internet. I would hate to see it under someone else's name someday. ;)

I've been writing since I was in about 4th grade (whaddoes that make you, 9? 10?)...and I've loved it ever since.

My most recent story was actually for a creative-writing class final. I was so excited about it I wanted to post it right on here...but I'm really afraid of copy-right issues.

Can anyone solve that so I can post it on here? I heard that if you put the "C" sign, the year, and your name, it is yours legally...is that true? :confused3

i don't know-i'm worried about that too, i mean I wouldn't want anyone stealing my work!!

I write fan fiction! I write it for shows like Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Bones etc. And I tend to write about a certain ship (a couple that is in the show) for example in Buffy I would do a fan fic on Buffy and Angel because they were together! I love following ships!

Ive written loads of papers for school! But I dont enjoy doing them because they tend to be assigned to you which means they have already got a subject and you have to write it from there! For my GCSE's I had to write three stories in 2 and a half hours. It was ok I guess but they tell you what to write about and I dont like that!

I enjoy writing poems but I dont really do it a lot. Lately ive been writing a lot of songs with my band so I guess thats kinda like a poem isnt it. Coz they all rhyme. Ahh well thats the life of me...lol :goodvibes

An artist gets a legal copyright as soon as an original work is finished. but thats hard to prove. If you write "copyright-ashlie (lastname)-2006" it would discourage use of it, because you have a written copyright for it.

so basically when u post some work u automatically have copyright over it?

when I write something and I finish I have an automatic copyright.

ETA you can also get a second copyright if you put something in an envelope and mail it to yourself and never open it. Do that right after you finish it.
