Heya,

I really like writing!! My fave thing to write is scripts. I love making up my own soaps and I like writing fanfic. I've never really written anything really good but I'm workin on it lol!! So is anyone here on the DIS into writing? If so what sorta stuff do you write?

I'm always too scared to share my writing 'cos I know it's not very good, but if anyone wants to share their writing they can here. Then maybe after a bit of encouragement I'll share some writing too :). :thumbsup2

Have fun :goodvibes

I can write... I just had a dream that would work, but I either drop the story cause I think it's stupid, or I'm too lazy to continue writing it.

So far I've stopped writing:
A personal Story
A Super Smash Bros Original Story
A story about Stuffed Animals (don't... ask...)
A story about how monkeys take over a theme park
A story based off of a song (Animal I Have Become by Three Days Grace)

That's the same with me, I'll start writin something but then I just give up. I'm really determined to write a whole story/script but I don't have much ideas atm

Yeah, I am going to start writing my story, or at least make a character sheet. I usually write with music so I don't get bored.

Ok, I've written at least twenty stories in my head and basically I put off writing them down until I forget it. lol. . . I do like writing poetry, and I HAVE managed to write some down.

I've written short stories before. I think the longest was about fifty pages. The shortest was a few paragraphs. My favorite thing to write would have to be things that actually happened to me, or my opinions on a topic. I had a poetry phase and I wrote litterally HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS of poems. I got one or two published. Now I'm really just writing about my own life.

I basically write about things that bother me or my life.

When I write, I don't stop. In other words, I don't stop to analyze what I've just put down on paper until after it is completed. Even then I won't analyze it completely. I like to think I don't have to do that part. I wrote it.

My ideas come from what I have lived. The more I live the more I can write.

i'm not much for writing.
i can't write stories, or poems, i'm not meant for it. i've tried to finish stories, but honestly i only like to start them, poems i just hate so much. i can't read them, or write them.
when i write though, it's usually me complaining about how much i hate my city, how an ex-friend needs to get over herself, etc.

thanks sparx. So does anyone have ideas for what my soap/drama can be about? I mean things that bother me are chavs, ignorance, inconsiderate people, models that are way too skinny, celebrities that are bad role models by dieting when they don't need too, magazines which only put models that are skinny in and that's about it. So how can I incorperate (sp?) that into my soap?

How can you not? You need to use your creativety to blend the topics and ideas into your "soap". Only you can know how it should be...otherwise that wouldn't make you the writer.

However, it is always a good idea to start and finish such a writing with a "bang". In other words, if you want people to start reading it, you need to pull them into it. You also don't want to leave them dry at the end either. It is always the start and finish that are remembered most. Out of those topics you've mentioned, what do you think is the "bang" and create your foundation from that.

I'm a published freelance magazine writer.

The hard part isn't writing; it's finding a market for your work. That said, once you get into the rhythm of writing and publishing, it can be a great career! You'll start finding topics all over the place. Heck, one of my best articles was about flame wars on discussion boards :teeth:

Go to the bookstore and pick up the 2006 Writer's Market book. It has every market out there that will read your stuff and pay you for it.

One important tip I'll share: Follow The Rules. If they only want queries, just send queries, not the entire manuscript. If they want it in a certain format, do it. Otherwise you'll just get rejected. You'll get rejected anyway, but don't take it personally and keep writing.
Thats great advice. I'll look for that book. thanks!

At least I have you hoping... lol.

The sad part is, for some people, a post like that wouldn't be a joke.
yeah I know. Thats why I wasn't sure if I could laugh or not. ;)
