I was a bridesmaid for a friend who told me in the back of the church that she wasn't sure she wanted to go thru w/ the wedding. Well we were all dressed up and the music was already playing, so I did the song and dance about just being jitters or whatever and she ended up going thru w/ it.

They were divorced several months later:scared1:

This was like 20 years ago. She's now remarried with a child:goodvibes

oooh I forgot about these two, I worked with them but didn't attend.

12) Wore her "Jesus Sandals" ( I think Birkenstocks?) with her wedding gown, which was quite pretty, and served pizza and subs at the reception, again with the punch-in-a-trash-can. Immediately after eating-some people weren't finished-stood up and "thanked everyone for coming but you have to leave now" and then left.

Worst Reception Ever...

We had just finished dinner, one attendant was clearing our plates, while the other........ brought us our bill for dinner :scared1: .

We would have been more than happy to pay for our food at a wedding we attended in Virginia!! We all drove in that day for this wedding-left early and got there in time---only to find out that the "reception" was in the basement of the church where it was NOT air conditioned and they did not have real food- crappy punch and some kind of weird triangle bread things they called food with cucumbers or something in them :scared1: !! We all split as soon as we could to run to the local fast food place to get something to eat!!! I would have loved to have been served pizza and subs or paid for a meal rather than get that stuff they call punch and cucumbers on bread :rotfl2:

Oh, that reminds me! When I was in university I worked at a coffee cafe called Second Cup (very Starbucks-ish). We had a wedding in there one morning. No idea why! The couple came up to us the week before and asked if they could do it. It was them and two friends and we didn't even stop serving coffee during their vows. Then they sat and had carrot cake.

Now, we tried to make this nice. A co-worker and I got flowers for the table, made a CD with classical music to play, and I took a break to photograph the event. All in all, I think we did rather well! AND we gave them a rather large gift card. Come the same time next year, they come back and tell us they want to do it again. In fact, they want to do it every year! Umm....

My brother and his group of friends had been friends since early childhood. When each of them got married, the group would play some sort of practical joke on the groom (they were all out of college by this time). These jokes were extreme and they attempted to best each past effort.

So for one guy, while they guys were all getting ready for the wedding, they held the groom down and painted his butt in a bullseye target pattern.

The ceremony starts and it turns out the groom was allergic to the paint. An ambulance was called and the very expensive wedding did not take place.

The couple later had a civil ceremony and are still married. The groom never spoke to my brother or the rest of the group of guys (it's been 20 years) even though he had participated in all earlier practical jokes. This one was the last of the practical wedding jokes for that group.

My post is more about a reception. The son of one of my coworkers was getting married, and the mother of the bride did absolutely NOTHING to help. The mother of the groom asked her close friends to help, and we helped her prepare the food (mini quiches, meatballs, finger sandwiches, little sausages, cheese tray, fruit tray, desserts, etc). We set up the reception in the church hall, staffed the kitchen and replenished the food as needed on the tables so the mother of the groom could enjoy herself as she should. When it was time to clean up, the mother of the bride brought one tiny tray to the kitchen and announced she was tired, had a headache and was going home. She also asked the mother of the groom if she would keep the bride's son (from an earlier relationship) overnight because she was just too tired. She never even said thank you, which probably would have surprised us anyway. She and her family then came into the kitchen and asked if they could take the leftover food home! We were very proud of the mother of the groom for telling them (nicely) that she was planning to take the food home. She offered those of us who assisted leftovers, of course:)

The worst wedding i ever went to was my sisters step daughter. I was catered by Blimpies and had the worst food ever!!!

A very nice widow and widower met and planned a lovely family wedding. About 100 people came from all over the country to help them celebrate.

We are all waiting, and waiting and waiting outside the church. The minister totally forgot. Finally got ahold of his son who said "Oh he's at the mall".

The bride had been extremely active in this church for decades, raised her children there, buried his first husband there etc. The minister never even called to apologize to her!

The worst part is that the groom was so upset that he had a major heart attack 5 days later.
