Seems like people are taking tumbles left right and center according to the postings here! So, share your weirdest or worst injury sustained in the course of duty at the World!

Mine: Both weirdest and worst...I decided to abandon all rational thought and wear a brand new pair of Birkenstocks to DHS. They are sooo comfy right? WRONG! I had a welt on the top of my foot where the band crosses within minutes, skin was off within the hour. No amount of futzing with the strap would alleviate the pain, and I couldn't find a decent shoe in the place that wouldn't rub right there. No amount of band-aids would cover it, not even a pad and gauze!

I still have the scar (yes, SCAR) 10 months later. Ha.

I got one! Just before our trip in 2004 I got a sinus infection, told MD to be careful what he put me on as an antibiotic because I was going to FL and spending days in the sun/heat. He apparently wasn't listening. Two days into our trip my legs are covered in a horrible beat red hive/rash from toes to hips. End up in the ER only to find out you're supposed to avoid exposure to the sun on this antibiotic (this warning wasn't listed on the package!). So I ended up getting a steroid shot, pill form steroids and a cream to use. Worst part, I had to protect my legs from any further sun exposure, not easy when I didn't bring any pants. I had to wear my capri pants with DH's socks pulled up over the knee. It looked HORRIBLE! I stood behind DS's stroller for every picture we took!!!

While they are definitely not our worst injuries (as a mom of boys, we have both injuries AND weirdness all the time) they were somewhat weird....

The first year we took the boys, DS 5 threw up all over DS 7 while watching TV on the bed after a long day at the parks. And after their showers, of course. Too many spinny rides? The heat? Unhealthy snacks? We'll never know.

A couple of years later my youngest DS now 8 and I were riding ToT for his first time. He being somewhat on the skinny side, I thought, needed some extra holding-on-to while we were going down. His little fanny kept lifting off the seat and it was freaking him out a bit. So I put my hand on his leg and at that moment he lifted up and my finger hit the safety belt and my nail bent backwards. Not broken, just inside out. And bleeding. After the ride, I had to stop at a snack cart and get some ice. OUCH.

I was there 9/24-10/1 and two days before we came home, I started with a cough and fever and my eyes were bothering me. When we got home, I went to urgent care and was diagnosed with pneumonia and pink eye! Two separate illnesses I coincidentally got at the same time, presumably both contracted at WDW. I eat well, take vitamins and exercise daily so I must have touched some gnarly germs to get such serious things!

Also, I bought croc flip flops over the summer and wore them everywhere at home to break them in. I was at WDW for not even 2 hours and started to get a blister on the bottom of my foot. I quick changed my shoes before it got worst. Must have been the heat/humidity making my foot moist and sweaty because it never happened when I wore them at home.

Well the normal things.. like blisters.. ouchie.. all 3 of us got the stomach flu on the flight home.. (although I have heard horror stories about getting it while there).. when my son was 2.. MIL (after fighting with all of us that morning) pretty much passed out in line and FIL had to "carry her" out of the safari line.. turns out she just had a case of " ruin your trip and make it all about me drama"..

I ran the marathon with a pair of less-than-broken in shoes.


I ended up with an iPhone sized blister on the bottom of one foot, and 3 large (dollar bill sized) blisters around the other foot. Both went down 3 layers. I ended up in the emergency room after the race because I couldn't even walk.


My feet are STILL healing!

I was pinned to the wall outside MK by a totally drunk EVC person.
He was screaming and cursing and I just could jump aside. He was in no condition to drive and his family was just laughing. No bloody injuries but next time I will take pictures and call security.

I got a really swollen face this year after a bad reaction to sun screen. Was not nice at all. Very painful and I looked awful.

Well the normal things.. like blisters.. ouchie.. all 3 of us got the stomach flu on the flight home.. (although I have heard horror stories about getting it while there).. when my son was 2.. MIL (after fighting with all of us that morning) pretty much passed out in line and FIL had to "carry her" out of the safari line.. turns out she just had a case of " ruin your trip and make it all about me drama"..

A girl I work with took her family there last year and got the stomach flu the first day. Had to spend the entire time in their room while her DH and Mother took the kids to the parks. Talk about a lousy trip!

Wow, I feel terrible for you! That's way worse than being hit in the ankle by a stroller! (which happens to everyone at some point)

My dd was clotheslined at DTD at DL. We were going to get on the monorail, and they had the lines set up with metal chains. Usually at the end they put a little flag so you can see the chain and know to turn. Well, my dd who was about 4, was really excited and was running up to the monorail and ran right in to the chain. It caught her across the neck and flung her backwards head first on to the concrete. She had a welt across her neck, and luckily didn't lose consciousness, so no head injury, but I know it hurt like the dickens.

The thing that got me the most, though, is that we went to guest relations to let them know, so they could put the little flags up, and the CM was really rude. She wouldn't apologize, mouthed off to me, and said she wasn't going to tell them to put the flags on. That made me mad at the time, but it's typical of DL; the CM's there aren't very good.

on our last trip, my FIL went to the hospital for a kidney stone, and my husband went to the hospital for a charlie horse in his back. We all had strep throat the day before we left... we still had fun for the most part...

On a Downtown Disney day, we had lunch at Raglan Road (nice and fried ) before heading to DisneyQuest.

First we did the Mighty Ducks pinball. Looking up at the screen and moving was making me a little dizzy, but I didn't think much of it. So we go up to Ride the Comix. I never did virtual reality before. They said if you get sick to take the mask off and exit. So within 10 seconds I was ready to lose my lunch, but I wasn't sure where the exit was, and since there were so many people around--I was embarrassed to exit early--so I fought through and tried to be brave. When it's over... my fiance was already at the exit--he had jumped out right away He said he couldn't take it. I ran to the nearest RR, and he met me at the door with a Sprite I was down for the rest of the day--sick--dizzy--nausea--unlike anything I ever felt before.

Even though it wasn't their fault and it was 3 years ago.... I can't eat at Raglan Road anymore

I once lost a tooth (well, half) pulled out on a salt water taffy at Beaches & Cream....!!!

No injuries at WDW (yet!) but my son has managed to break a limb just before the two trips he has taken there. When he was 2 he broke his leg, and when he was 4 he broke his arm. Didn't slow him down at all at the parks though! We're going in December and I really hope he doesn't break anything before this trip!

About 5 years ago at the AK, I got a cut on my cornea! I pulled a times sheet out of the bag on the back of our stroller, and wham right in the eye. It was extremely painful. It didn't hurt THAT bad right away, but the next morning, I couldn't bear to open it. I had to go to the urgi care near the Crossroads and see a doctor. I had to wear the darkest sunglasses I could find and use antibiotic eye drops. It still bothers me sometimes and I have a scar on my eye (undetected to the naked eye though). I think that's the last time we were at the AK- not fond memories.

I always say my husband deserves the Daddy of the Year award. Something always happens to him on the way to Disney, and he always sucks it up like nothing ever happened. The night before our first Disney trip, my brother (who lives near Disney World) kept my husband up all night drinking. I told him he better not over do it because it was our one and only Disney day. But they stayed up until 3 am and just got hammered. I will NEVER forget the look on my husband's green face the next day when he got off his first ride, The Astro Orbiter! Too funny. He never complained. He also never drank again!

Anyway ... back to the worst injury. Last April we headed back to my brother's for another visit. On the way out the door to head to Disney World, my husband tripped down the stairs and did this ...

Broke his toe! Still, he was a trooper. No complaints and a fabulous Disney vacation!

What a coincidence! My MIL got the same thing right before our wedding! Must be in the sun/son.

The worst was when we were there a few weeks ago. Our first full day there, my youngest DS, 2.5, was doing the stick horses at WCC during dinner and he tripped and fell head first into one of the big coumns. It swelled up to a nice goose egg, was a little scraped, and was black and blue. I know it hurt because he was crying pretty hard. The waitress got us some ice. The manager came to check on us, then came back with little Buzz Lightyears that light up (I think they usually come on the punch) one for him and one for my 5 year old too, he also took our information, he said in case we needed to have him seen. I guess Disney would have paid for that. We were concerned at first but the Buzz did a lot to improve his mood for sure. He was absolutely thrilled with it and fascinated with the light. In the end just a nasty bump and bruise.

Was boarding "living with the land" at Epcot with DW, DDs and MIL and FIL and was paying more attention to getting both the kids and the old folk safely on the boat when I slipped and bashed my knee on some unidentified object in the boat! By the end of the ride it was almost twice the size and I had to limp out of the park and head to a pharmacy to get a compression bandage!
