We have rented 4 or 5 times now. However, this will be our last

But only because we are now owners
We rented from different people each time. Every single transaction went as smooth at silk. The owners were all wonderful about making a reservation for us. We always paid 50% after confirmation of the actual reservation paper was received or after a reservation number was given to us via email or phone. The final payment was always made 60 days before arrival. For one of our rentals we had a signed contract. Sometimes we paid through Paypal, others I sent a check.
Now, we fully understood the
DVC points process BEFORE we ever attempted to rent points. This is so important! There is not the flexibility that there is when booking a room for cash.
We also knew exactly when we would be traveling and there was no possibility that we would change our dates. This is also important as you are requiring another person to make your reservation for you.
We also NEVER asked an owner to lower the amount of money they were asking for their points. I think this is shameful and disrespectful and just plain wrong! If I didn't like the amount someone was asking for their points, I would simply tell them we were already all set.
I think those three things are the biggies that can turn someone off from renting their points. Too many people that "hear about" renting don't have enough knowledge to do so.
