I was hoping to see what type of bags ya'll take into the parks with you. We will have the refilable cups and i would rather not use a locker if i can avoid it. What kind of back pack or whatever will they let us take on the rides?

Also how do you all keep your room keys/ FOTL passes safe while you are having a blast in the parks?

Only 67 days untill we go! :yay:

I use a Vera Bradley zip ID case with lanyard to hold my ID, room key, CC, and a little cash. They're allowed on all rides, but you may want to put it down your shirt on rough rides, so it doesn't fly up.

I try not to carry a bag at all at Universal. I learned my lesson the first time I went over there. When I came back the first thing I did was go online and order me a week's worth of cargo shorts. Now if it doesn't fit in the cargo shorts or lanyard around my neck, it doesn't go. I was used to being able to carry a bag onto all the rides at WDW, so was surprised when I couldn't at Universal. The rides that require a locker do not allow any loose bags (even the small cross body bags are not allowed). Fanny packs are though. My Vera Bradely mini hipster is smaller than most fanny packs, but still wasn't allowed. If I do carry a mug, I use a carabiner hook on the strap of the mini hipster to hold the mug or you could just loop the straw around the bag strap and then push both ends into the Universal mug. Just remember that both the mug and bag will have to go into a locker at the rides that require them (Forbidden Journey, Dueling Dragons, Hulk, Mummy, Men in Black, Rip Ride Rocket). I was at Universal last May, early Sept, mid Oct, and then again in Dec. Every trip I saw people with even the tiniest bags/wristlets told to put them in the lockers. Only fanny packs were allowed. I guess you could use a cabiner clip to clip your mug to a fanny pack and it'd be allowed. I can understand the loose shoulder strap or backpack type bags that might go flying, but don't understand why the cross body bags are not allowed. It's not like they can go anywhere.

If I am with my hubby then I stuff what I can in my pockets and forget about carrying a bag. If I go without him I carry a belly bag. The one I have I bought at Universal and it has the three prong connection. It isn't fashionable but I never have to put my things in a locker.

I believe I have found THE perfect Universal bag!!

I've always carried a mini backpack to Disney and up until recently at Universal. Now that the kids are a bit older and we usually stay onsite at Universal, I just don't need that kind of room and don't want to deal with the hassle of carrying it. I would still like to have a place for the cell, camera, hand sanitizer, tissues, glasses, credit cards etc. and this little bag holds all of that and more! BUT, the best feature is that it can be worn as a purse over your shoulder which I'll do 98% of the time and then converted in seconds to a waist pack for those rides that won't allow bags.

As far as the room keys go, I have the hotel hole punch it for me and wear it around my neck on a cheap lanyard type string I picked up at a craft store. That way it is easily accessed for the ride attendants. Everyone in my party wears theirs that way.

Two of our party wore fanny packs and we all bought lanyards at Filches Emporium in the Wizarding World. They didn't have plastic card sleeves on them, but the girl at the counter had a whole box, so she attached them for us. We put our room keys and tickets in the lanyards. Because the plastic sleeves are clear, we didn't have to take them out again the whole trip - in fact, we could swipe them at park entry without even taking them off our necks.

These lanyards - and other, non-Harry Potter ones - are available at all the shops in the park.

The Gryffindor lanyard has a better keychain loop than the house tie lanyards, otherwise they're all pretty much the same. Make sure to tuck them into your shirt when you ride, or they can get caught in the ride harness and the keychain loops can get stretched and break. (The Mummy is particularly bad for this!)

We put our cameras and wallets in the fanny packs and were allowed to wear them on every ride.

It's nice not to have to worry about lockers!

I couldn`t get your link to work............but it sounds like the Kipling Multiple......I`ve just ordered one of those today for me to use this summer in the parks.

My friend has one and it is lovely. Hers is not as nice as mine though as I have ordered the Fuschia colour :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

For our park tickets and room key we have our HHN Lanyards....perfect.

Sorry the link doesn't work for you. I just tried it and it seems to work for me. Anyway, ebags calls it the Kipling Multiple Convertible Waist Bag. Sounds like the same thing. If we are ever in the parks at the same time, I'm sure I'll be able to spot you with your fuschia kipling! :goodvibes

I not only love the design of these bags, but the material too!

Some links that people post from the states sometimes work for everyone else except me :confused3 fussy computer!!

Yes it is the same one then....that`s the name on the kipling website.

I think I will be quite visible ...........the material is lovely........I`m just hoping I will be prepared to take it on rides it`s so nice....just not Pluto`s barges :scared1:

I use 2 amphipods. One with my phone, the other with my little camera. They stay on perfectly and are super comfortable.

For the room key I use an ID badge holder that clips on my shorts and has a retractable badge holder. Like this one.

I can't stand anything wrapped around my neck or around my waist. If I need to carry my refillable cup, i use a string backpack and put it in a locker or with hubby.

You're only allowed to take a fanny/waist-pack on the rides. You'll definitely have to put the cups in a locker before you go on each ride.
I use a Vera Bradley ID case at Disney to hold our room keys/cash/phone, but at Universal/IOA, I'll use the Vera Bradley Coin purse. It'll hold my camera, possibly cell phone (may leave it at the resort), cash, Disney KTTW, and a credit card. I'll clip a Vera Bradley lanyard to it and then put the coin purse in my pocket. I'll loop the lanyard through a belt loop so it's extra-secure. The lockers are such a pain at US/IOA, so we really wanted to go bagless our next trip.

We fastened our mugs with clips to our belts and were allowed to ride.

I used cargo shorts on our last trip. It was amazing the amount of stuff I could put in them if I wanted. I'm hoping I'll still fit into those shorts for my next trip. I got them at Bass Pro shops.

And then my passporter pouch for tickets/rooms keys. I loved going bagless.

I love to sew, so I made a Mickey Mouse drawstring backpack (top 2/3 is black, bottom 1/3 is red with white buttons) to carry all of my stuff. The fabric has a bit of stretch so I can stuff it full of things. I used the kite type material and sprayed it with scotchguard outdoor. I got caught in a thunderstorm last trip and I was soaked, but my backpack kept everything inside nice and dry!

Thanks for all the suggestions and links folks! I like the look of the kipling messenger, and the hole punched in the room keys......ill have to investigate!

Thanks! :goodvibes

This good to know...I was wondering...can you do this with a fanny pack too?

Two of us where fannypacks then the other 2 can clip to there belts! Thanks for the great idea!

I clipped mine to the belt of my fanny pack.

It was interesting that one attendant gave us an issue saying that Mugs weren't allowed, but we told him that wasn't true, it was that LOOSE MUGS weren't allowed, as we had ridden several times with them attached already. So if you are given an issue, stand your ground.

Can you tell me what VB coin purse you use that holds all of that? That sounds ideal. At Disney, I carry the VB Hipster and bring more things, i.e. hand sanitizer, tissues, etc., but to avoid the locker situation at IOA, I want to trim down to really just the camera, cell phone (maybe), credit card, ID. DH will handle the tickets.
