I worked with Randy Chapman, and he did an amazing job. I felt so confident in his work, I didnt actually hand him a list, I knew what I wanted and we mentioned it before the ceremony and he double checked with me to make sure he was getting everything. Here are some pics I really wanted-
- The obvious family shots
- A Group shot of everyone who was at the wedding
-Some "getting ready" shots
- Beach shots (I was at SBP)
-Some Sea Breeze Point shots- i love the high arches, and the lattice walkway
-One shot on the bikes on the boardwalk (another one specific to Boardwalk)
-The first first time DH saw me in my dress
-One with Rev. Jack Day
-One with my planner, Amy
-Our rings
-The actual exchange of the rings at the ceremony
-My grandmother's memory flower
-Our staged exit

I would suggest browsing through the POTD thread- just for some ideas.

What's funny is, when I look through my pictures most of my favorite ones are the candid ones that werent staged.

This was a guideline I sent to Misty. I knew what I did not want her to waste spending time on so I had my must NOT have. For the must have it was more of a guideline. There were some pics I have seen of Misty's along the way that I knew I would like but the bottom line was I trusted her implicitly. I was more emphatic on what I did NOT want.

Must NOT Have photos
• Bride peering over bouquet or smelling it
• Bride shoving bouquet towards camera
• Bride and groom kissing and shoving bouquet towards camera
• There will be no cake smashing or feeding each other with our hands
• Too many of just the bride- this is our wedding to the love of my life, I am not a huge fan of a lot of bride only portraits. The day is about us.

Must HAVE photos
• Bride peering out window curtains- pic where you get the bride’s back only
• Any pics of my handsome soon to be hubby in his suit 
• Boardwalk dip (B&W with Boardwalk sign in color)
• Petal toss- B&W but petals in color
• First look
• Many candids of bride and groom. I want a lot of sweet moments and “Awww” pics
• Just a few posed family shots- but I do not want to spend a lot of time here. Would prefer to do this before ceremony in GF lobby so after ceremony we can focus on bride and groom shots around Boardwalk
• Any cute pics of my niece and nephew
• Remembrance rose my dad will place on empty seat next to him to honor my mother
• I want a lot of fun goofy lovey ones of us fooling around the Boardwalk- photobooth etc
• I would like one or 2 of the fireplace room and set up in Victoria and Alberts just to document, but I do not need many
• Kissing dip photos

I only had two must have shots from the Roots.

1. Stitch and Me (No DH! lol :rotfl:)
2. To be in one of the signature Root mirror shots with them

I got both! :thumbsup2 I didn't want to give the Roots too many shots to do, as that would take away from their photojournalistic style. I got everything I wanted and more from my wedding pictures. I only missed one posed picture, but that was my fault! :goodvibes

Here is what we are doing for our wedding, which has you can see from my ticker, is still quite awhile away, but photography is of EXTREME importance to both DF and I. We are using the Roots, and we love their photojournalistic style, so while there are certain group shots that we want, we want it with their style so we are just giving them a list of the “groups” we want, and as long as they can capture that whole group in one shot, as far as we are concerned it doesn’t have to be a posed shot. For example, I definitely want a few shots of me with my sister and brothers, as long as they get shots with all 4 of us in it, even if we are just sitting around talking to each, we’re good (DF and I both want a lot of candids).

Now, to make this a bit easier for them, I am making them a chart (why yes, I can be a bit anal retentive, why do you ask? :lmao:). It basically has the person’s name, and a small picture. For example, the page for my family will have a small picture of each of my siblings and my parents, then next to their name it says “sister” “brother” “mom”, etc. I know that sounds a bit overboard, but we would like a bunch of candids of our friends and families just interacting with each other, and this way they know who they are looking for instead of one of us having to go to them and say “oh, that’s my cousin - get a picture”.

Other then that, DF and I are the photographers in our group of friends, so we don’t have many photos of just the two of us that were not taken by one of us holding the camera out, so we want a good number of the two of us. We are also doing a first look and I want a shot of the look on DF’s face when he seems me for the first time.

That all makes sense in my head, so I hope it makes sense when you are reading it! :thumbsup2

My must haves were pretty simple..

I wanted a shot with the veil blowing over us..the wind cooperated perfectly!

and our funnel shot

It's not very romantic, but my must have shots were one of me descending a staircase in my big gown (can you say little girl dream coming true!) and one of my BM's and I with our bums to the camera, which is a bit of a tradition for us... The rest just happened naturally. That said, the one shot I wish I had gotten was of all the wedding guests gathered together.

Ohhhh I wish my daughter inlaw's family saw things YOUR way!! There are a TON of her & them, and just a handful of my son w/ his family or my son at all. Infact, at the church, the photographer did ALL of her, with her family, bridesmaids, and even the groomsmen. The photographer checked off his list and said, "Is there anymore you'd like?" We were shocked. Hello?? We were sitting on 2 pews, full of my sons family.. thankfully my son said, "Ah yeah, my entire family!" The father of the bride was taken back. I think, in his mind, he really didn't think they would take any of us. Sadly, there are just 5 pictures, and he only took maybe 3 minutes. It was very rushed. We weren't happy, at all. :sad2:

What?! that is horrible! some people have no manners. I would never dream of cutting out any pictures with the in laws.
Can someone say BRIDEZILLA :scared1:

We made sure for the formal shots we had every variation of my side and DH side. I would never favor one over the other. I just am not a huge fan of the formal ones so I wanted more pics of the families throughout the event, not as many posed shots. But at the same time I wanted at least one formal one of everybody.

My list was a gudieline. I never got a kissing dip picture actually and I don't miss it because I have so many phenomenal ones from Misty. I was more emphatic on what I did NOT want her to waste her time on (the NOT photos obviously) but if you trust your photog like Meg says you will get amazing pics.

I lost my mom so I know how important pics are and there was no way I was going to skimp out on my hubby having pics with his mom and family. NO WAY.

my favorite is not even of my husband and I it is of me and my girls...you need a sunglasses picture :)

This one is nice too

i haven't been married yet, nor getting married at an early time of my life but planning to be, yet i have that in mind. my idea of must have photos should be something that will always be remembered of like:
- preparing the groom / bride
- whole entourage
- the night before the wedding
- solo for the bride
- solo for the groom
- lots of pictures of happy faces for the bride and groom
- family / friends pictures
- while doing the wedding vows and kissing the bride...
