Share Your Magical CM Experiences

I can't really call this magical, but I did have an experience where cast members went above and beyond the call of duty. We were at the Little Mermaid section of AOA and about to head out to the parks for the day when one of my best friends began puking her guts out into a trash can. Like I said magical isn't the best term for this experience. I told her to go back to the room while I ran off to get her some tea to settle her stomach. When I returned she was surrounded by members of the cleaning staff. They had brought her a chair, a bottle of water, and a towel. They went out of their way to make everything a little nicer for a sick friend.

Lol! This reminded me... My first ride on Mission to Mars. I walked out of the ride and then literally stumbled out of the building. There were no benches nearby. I saw many people laying on the grass part outside but I just didn't want to do that. So we went inside the next building which they use for the Flower and Garden show now and I just could not walk anymore I was so dizzy. I found a bench and sat down. A CM saw my green face and did the same thing, she went away and came back with cold towel and a bunch of crackers. And told me that I could just sit there for awhile. They've seen others do the same... Lol! That was the last time I did the original version of the ride.

I am loving all of these stories! The poison apple story was really cute. Oathkeeper, I love that the CM's were taking care of your friend, I think it was very sweet.

My almost 16 year old daughter loves Ariel, she always has. This past October we went to a character meal every day. We had lunch at CRT and of course we met Ariel. My daughter was enthralled by her, as always. They chatted and had a good time. Later in the week we had breakfast at Akershus. We met Ariel again and she remembered my daughter. They hugged and caught up on what we had done since we had last visited with her. It made my daughter's day that Ariel remembered her.

Several years ago a friend and I went on the KTTK tour. Our tour guide, Matthew, was so sweet and funny - it was truly a joy to be part of his group.

He encouraged us to ask questions during the tour. I had tons of questions, but I definitely tried to be very aware of not "taking over" too much with an overabundance of questions. I'd hate to be "that person" who hogs all of the time with incessant questions - I've been on tours with people like that before!:goodvibes

Well, at the end of the tour, everyone started to go their separate ways. Several of us lingered for a minute to thank Matthew for the great tour. He asked me and my friend to wait a minute, and he went back into the Town Hall building. He reappeared shortly and came over to talk to us. He told me he had really enjoyed having us on the tour, especially since I had asked some really great questions (he said it makes the tour guide's job more fun if people do ask questions - who knew?).

He said that, to thank me, he was giving me his own "cast members only" pin for the Epcot 25th Anniversary (which happened to be that day!). What a special treat! I was so worried about being obnoxious about my questions, and he was happy that I had asked them! It was so wonderful to get such a special pin.

Last Fall, after riding Star Tours several times, my friend and I were getting recognized by the CMs. After our 12th trip, one of the guys asked if we were going to ride again. We told him we had to go meet a friend, to which he responded, "Oh, because if you wanted to ride again I was just going to take you back through the employee hallway to bypass the line." To which we said, "Our friend can wait."

Afterwards, we were hanging out talking to some of the Star Tours CMs in front of the ride, when another CM overheard us mention we'd set a new record with 13 trips. He asked if we'd like him to change the Wait Time to 13 so we could have our picture taken in front of it, which may seem silly, but made for a very special trip.

We also received this little memento for requesting our final trip with one of the CMs we'd made friends with earlier:

Best trip ever!

Maybe not extra magical, but extra entertaining.

We recently stayed at BWV. A CM from Disney Transportation, Nico, was there to track buses. He told us "bad jokes every 20 minutes, the same bad jokes". It helped keep the mood light when waiting for buses. He also sang popular Disney songs. "Let It Go" was an obvious favorite. I think what was best is that he kept his word. We did indeed get bad jokes, the same bad jokes every 20 minutes and also every day. They never changed. It was wonderful. I wish he was at the parks entertaining us as we waited for buses back to the resort.

best trip ever!

ok that is awesome!!

I love reading all of these:) A few years ago when we ate dinner at CM, we were seated and the CM was asking us questions as to what we had seen so far, etc. He was polite and we enjoyed chatting with him. Well, I usually do tip envelopes with a picture or words from where we live. Well, lo and behold, the CM asked us about our envelope, and he studied the picture and he recognize it...he lived near our hometown..he then went and came back with special placemats with the characters autographs on it:) The kids were in awe as well as I . A few years ago, we were on a whole family vacation and we did the Disney Cruise first and then went to Caribbean Beach resort. We had done the check in, got our special buttons and we were heading out the door to find our room and the CM opening the doors for us, stopped me and had everyone sing Happy Birthday to!! First I was in shock then realizing that the CM picked me out of our family to sing too, we had birthdays and first visits to the world shirts on, and I was the one they sang to...Same trip and the perfect ending to our whole family trip, we were eating at 1900 Park Fare and while the Prince and Cinderella were dancing, I was taking pictures, Prince Charming came over and asked our 5 year old granddaughter to dance:) A perfect ending to our already very special vacation..I could barely take pictures as the tears flowed... memories ....COLOR]

I was on a mother-daughter trip with my kiddo this past October. We were on Main St watching Wishes - we normally avoid in front of the castle and along main street and watch the fireworks from an alternate location due to the tight quarters of the crowds there but this time we gave it a try. When we were done, we were heading back toward the castle while everyone else was making their mass exit. I was really struggling "swimming upstream" so I decided to try to veer off to the side near the corner where the ice cream shop was and just wait a few minutes for the crowd to thin out. One of the ice cream parlor CMs walked over to us and told us Minnie Mouse, from inside Cinderella's watch tower, saw us watching the fireworks and wanted us to have a very special treat that she made just for us and gave us a cute sundae that was made to look just like her. It made my daughter's whole night! She was so excited that Minnie chose her to receive a special treat. We sat down and ate it and by the time we were done, the crowd had dispersed. It was perfect!

My favorite CM is the one who tirelessly searched, called around and found my DH's lost cell phone!!!

Out first visit was in 2007. On our last night we were wandering around downtown Disney and our daughter Emily who was 6 at the time saw the Bibbity Bobbity boutique and asked if she could go there. We checked with a CM and they apologized but were all booked up.Ok,no problem we thought but Emily stated to cry because she couldn't get a spot there. A CM then came and told us she would check again and lo and behold they let Emily in and gave her the works. The CM's were so nice and thoughtful to do that for someone.
On our next visit in 2010 again with Emily at DownTown Disney while watching them make candy in the Candy Cauldron a CM saw Emily wearing her birthday button. They motioned for her to come inside and they gowned her up and let her make some candy of her choice for her birthday and then posed for pictured with her. Finally after a long day at Animal Kingdom we went to the Rainforest Café for dinner. Our son Tyler was not feeling well and didn't order dinner despite our prodding him to. The waiter asked him several times if there was anything he could get to make him feel better and Tyler always refused. We were finishing up our dinner when the waiter returned and said " I think this will make you feel better" and gave Tyler a big bowl of ice cream with a brownie in it....free of charge! I managed to get the waiters name and wrote to the company telling them how thoughtful he was and he was an asset to their company.

My sister and I stayed in 2011 and ate at 'ohana on our last night. We saved the MSEP and Wishes for the last night. 'Ohana ran pretty late seating us and when we got to MK there were virtually no spots left ahead of the MSEP. I think we had 10 min or so til it started. We tried to find a spot but obviously no one is very keen to squeeze in latecomers when they've been waiting and wating, which I completely understand and is completely fair. The only issue was this was our last night and we hadn't seen MSEP or Wishes.

We walked away from the Hub towards Frontierland and saw a cast member. I went over to him and pleaded for any advice as to where we could go to find a spot because we were just at a loss as to what we could do. This was peak spring break time also. I guess the CM noticed my sheer panic and desperation and he brought us over to a roped off area with benches. And let us in to this VIP roped off area! And we had front row, curbside, primo bench seats with the Castle in close proximity.

I was so grateful and started tearing up saying thank you thank you. I wish I got his name. It was a magical end to the trip.

I'd love to have those seats again and would willingly pay, but I've never come across this type of seating for purchase or been able to find more info anywhere online. So this CM literally gave us a priceless experience.

My 15 year old daughter just had something special happen for her and we weren't even in the park. About a month ago my daughter had an assignment in her business applications class to write a letter to a company and thank them for something. She decided to write to Disney and thank them for all the wonderful trips she had there. In her letter she told them how she was looking forward to using the Magic bands on her next trip. (She also told them she didn't like that she only would have 3 FP.) Yesterday in the mail she received a letter telling her how happy they were that she was excited about her next trip and the Magic Bands. They enclosed Band Its, they are used to decorate the bands and it had 4 of them, one representing each park. She was so excited. She of course posted it immediately to her facebook.

We were at HS and it was my DD and DS birthdays. They had their Birthday pins on so all day they got special treatment. We were in line at the ABC Commissary and the cashier called them by name and said that Darth Vader told her it was their birthday. She had them both sit in the stool that she sits on and yelled to everyone that there was a very special celebration going on. Then she had everyone there sing Happy Birthday to them. She ended by giving them each a Darth Vader cupcake. They were so excited!

Also, last October we were staying at POP and we headed out to MNSSHP. My DD5 realized once we got back to the hotel that she lost her lanyard and pins. She was so upset and a CM in the lobby asked if she could help. My DS9 told the CM what had happened and she took our name and said she would check lost and found for us. The next night we got back to our room and there were two gifts in our room. 1 for my DD and it was a lanyard with 12 pins on it----not hers but a replacement---from Mickey and Minnie telling my daughter they were sorry she lost her pins. The other gift was from the duo to my DS----$20 Disney gift card---for being such a caring Big Brother. It was so amazing and it really helped the trip continue on with that Magic!

I have 2 CM's that stand out in my mind.

In November we went to WDW for my dd's Sweet 16. On the night of her birthday we had Cinderella's Royal Table. Both the Kids had autograph books made using the disigns from this site. When Princess Aurora was signing their books she commented on the picture of Prince Phillip next to hers saying that he looked quite handsome riding his horse Samson. The next night we were at MVMCP and went to meet the princesses with their princes. When my daughters went over to Aurora and Prince Phillip Aurora looked at them and said hello again, and turned to Prince Phillip and said I met these girls in the castle last night and I told them how handsome you look riding your horse. My dd16's jaw dropped as she said it :rotfl: and as we were walking away she looked at me and said mom I can't believe she actually remembered us and what she said to us. This is one of my favourite memories because I felt even though she was 16 she is still impressed with Disney Magic :goodvibes

The other CM that stands out was our server at the Garden Grill on the same trip. I believe his name was Cory. My dd8 is a picky eater and I think she had just had an over load on food that day, so she wasn't eating much during the meal. Mostly just colouring and waiting for the characters. Well our server noticed she hadn't eaten much and offered her something else. We declined as we knew she probably wouldn't eat it anyway. Later he came back with dessert for all of us. DD didn't want to eat that either. He came back shortly after and told her that he couldn't make a promise but he would go check and see if he could find her a popsicle. She instantly perked up and said that yes she would love one. :thumbsup2 He left for a little while again and came back and apologized that he couldn't find a popsicle but he had something else if she wanted it....a cup FULL of mickey head sprinkles. She was so excited and walked around talking about it for the rest of the night.

This happened about ten years ago, when I went to Disney with just my mother and younger sister right after our parents got divorced. If anyone remembers they had this Mickey doll that would talk to you when you were walking around with facts, wait times, the like. He was awesome until at some point my sister lost him. She was just barely seven at the time, and we're not sure where she lost him, but she was extremely upset when she realized he was gone right about when we were seated in the V.I.P. area for Magic Kingdom's firework show at the time. (I can't really recall what it was being called at the time). Well a very kind CM saw my sister's tears and promptly told us all she was going to go look for Mickey. And she eventually "found" him. (Pretty sure she just replaced him). Since then I don't know where Mickey has gotten to, but she really did save our trip. That doll was fantastic and always helping us find hidden mickeys and other cool sights we would have never seen.:thumbsup2 (Like the stone dragon in Animal Kingdom, which last time I checked may either be grown over or gone.)

Ok, so, we were at CSR for our honeymoon, and like it or not (and flame away about our expectations but...) in MANY of the advertisements we had seen for Disney, including several of their own promotional pictures, the rooms included towel animals. My wife in particular was enamored with them and was SOOOO looking forward to them.

We were at CSR for 8 days, the first couple days, nothing, they were plainly displayed in MANY of the windows around CSR (many still in Christmas gear as we were there in February) ... and we kept wondering ... why do all these rooms have them, and we don't ??? We tipped every day for mousekeeping, and pretty well I think $10 or so ... and yet, nadda ....

SO finally, the afternoon of our second to last full day, after returning from the parks to a clean room but again no towel animals, I went to the front desk, and just explained to the CM at the desk that we were disappointed, it was our honeymoon, we had notified our CAA (AAA) travel agent etc to make note on the reservation, and we just had hoped for something a little magical, especially the towel animal, heck one little duck or elephant or something would have made my wife's day. I even said I was willing to pay for them, just so my wife would walk into the room and be surprised !!! Anyway, the CM called over what I am guessing was a shift supervisor or something, a middle aged woman and crap I wish I remembered her name, anyway, I explained it to her as well, how much we had been looking forward to it, she said the CAA agent hadn't noted it was out honeymoon, and they apologized (to which I said, heck, not your fault if there was no note) ... anyway, she said, animal towels, no problem !!!! and then she looked at me with a twinkle in her eye (I swear, not exaggerating, that's exactly what it looked like) and she said .... "Have you bought any mouse ears yet on your trip ?" To which I said, "No, we were probably going to do that before we leave, tomorrow or the morning of our departure day" then she smiled a bit and said .... "Have you seen our Bride and Groom mouse ears ?" and I said "YES ! I think that's actually what we are going to buy !" and she just kinda winked at me and she said, "Well, why don't you just hold off on that, and we will see what we can do to make your honeymoon stay with us a little special" ... I kinda smiled, not totally sure if she was suggesting what I thought she was, thanked her very much and headed back to my room to see the wife ...

The next day, we headed out, had a great day in the parks as usual, stayed late for fireworks .... came back to our room.

There on the Bed, like half a dozen towel animals, and a Silver Platter with "Wishes" "Champagne", Wishes Chocolates, and .... The Bride and Groom Mickey ears, with a card congratulating us and wishing us a Magical Forever After .... Holy crap, we both cried, ... it was amazing ....

It's more of a magical ride experiences with MANY CMs being baller. This short story is entitled: WHY TOWER OF TERROR IS THE BEST RIDE IN THE HISTORY OF ALWAYS.

When I was 14 we spent a week at Disney World. We had parkhoppers and in 7 days we visited Studios on 4 of those days (half days- whole days, whatever). Well this was the second trip after I had been tall enough to ride Tower of Terror.
Due to some clever FastPassing (Didn't know about double dipping-yes this was peak, and yes this is why I'll never get behind FP+) my mom and I rode Tower of Terror a lot. And I mean A LOT. It got to the point where the CMs started recognizing us.

One CM mentioned to us as we were walking in "Your hotel bill is going to be quite expensive. Here are some vouchers to cover some of the cost" and handed us some rider swap cards. As a kid I thought that was so cool! Then another time the guy who was collecting our FPs at merge looked at my mom and I and said "You're just gonna get back on again, aren't you?" I said yes and he told me just to hang on to them! Another day the same "Hotel Bill" man was waiting for us as we exited the ride, brought us down the hallway, brought us up on the "scardey cat elevator" that's between the two sides, while we were on the elevator he filled out one of those "Magical" Moments sheets for my mom and I and then we got off the elevator and stepped right on the next ride!

BUT THE BEST PART: I made friends with one particular CM who liked me cause I was wearing an Inuyasha shirt when we met. She once did a "celebrity guest" shout out for me when she was about to tell the lines how to enter the ride. She was very friendly and once when we walked up to go on the ride she found us, and started taking us on a tour of the lobby. We got to walk around the lobby (it was a dream come true for me!) and told us a BUNCH of trivia facts (a really sweet/sad story about one of the letters in the mail boxes). She also got special permission to take us into their "Tower" (which is a control room with all the videos of rides) and eventually we got to ride in an elevator car with just me, my mom, and her where we got more trivia about the ride and she pointed out all the Mickey's, etc! As a 14 year old I thought that was SO COOL. I was so glad I was old enough to realize what a special thing was happening for me.

In those 4 days we rode Tower of Terror 54 times. Now I always have to ride Tower of Terror as many times as possible because it's not only a great ride, but I have that wonderful memory.

Oh, so many things over the years....

Favorite was probably when DDs were maybe 12 years old and loved Aerosmith rockin roller coaster. We would get fast passes then ride standby then fast pass again over and over. The CMs started recognizing us and took us down the back alley to ride again without waiting in the line. DDs thought they were rock stars.

One time DD was ordering a giant turkey leg at the food area near tower of terror/rockin roller coaster. The CM told her she could have it for free if she gobbled like a turkey. At first she was shy and he told her not good enough. Then she really gobbled. The pictures of her eating that turkey leg are so funny. She was very proud.

Same DD has been picked to be the audience volunteer by Sergio the soccer ball juggler in Italy in EPCOT twice, four years apart. We are going again in a couple weeks and her twin sister is going to try to get her picked again.

We also love the animators studio at DHS. I have numerous drawings framed from throughout the years. We were there one year on DDs' birthday and the CM illustrator gave us her drawing of Pooh and wrote happy birthday on it. That is framed as well.

And can't forget the time my husband lost the camera bag and a cast member called my cell phone because I had the number on the tag. They usually take things to the front of the park for lost and found but we were way back in toon town so they met me closer to get the bag back without wasting so much time.

Can't wait for our next trip!! It has been almost four years so we are way overdue for some mouse time.

We had something similar happen in October. This wasn't really magical but it made my trip happy. We bought new prescription glasses for our daughter shortly before our trip. We had gone into A Bug's Life and she put them on her head and put the bug glasses on her face. As we were exiting one of the CM's said he thought he saw something fall of of her and hit the floor. She checked this and that and said no, she didn't think she had lost anything but thanked him for checking and then we headed out the door. My daughter threw her bug glasses in the collection bin and then a few more feet later said her glasses were missing. We went back and told the CM's who were collecting the glasses that we thought she may have accidentally put her glasses in the bin. She helped us look but they were not in there. That is when we realized the CM inside the theater must has seen her glasses fall and she since had the bug glasses on she just didn't make the connection. The new show had already started so the CM's outside said we could run in when the show ended and look. As soon as the door by our exit opened I could see the CM who said he thought he saw something fall. He looked at me with a big grin and walked over to me and handed the glasses before I could say anything. I looked at him and said "I could kiss you! Thank you so much!" He gave me a wink and we we all went on with our day. I was really happy to not have to replace brand new prescription glasses. I guess that does make it magical! LOL

My son and I were walking through the line at Kali River Rapids on our last trip. It wasn't very busy and there was a CM sweeping in front of us. It was windy and her hat flew off. My son ran over to grab it and brought it back to her. She asked if we were in a hurry, and when we said no, she explained that she liked to keep extra pins for special occasions. She said my son had done something very nice and deserved one of her special pins. She opened a bag she had and pulled out a lanyard full of pins and let him choose one. It is my son's favorite pin.

This is just one example of excellent customer service we've received and one of the many reasons why we'll keep going back to WDW again and again.
