Who out there has used Delta?? I saw some great round trip fares from Cleve to Orlando for (under 200.00) but I have read lots of negative things around Delta from the boards and was wondering if we were better off waiting to see if another airline came out with sales. Input please!

I have never had a problem flying on Delta out of NYC. We have always had a great experience with them. I travel a lot and I think every airline has it's problems. Just depends on the day I guess. I would give Delta a try if you are happy with the rate.

I flew Delta to and from Los Angeles over the Millennium New Years. All the flights were ontime, and service was good as well. We connected in Cincinnati going out, and Atlanta coming back. On the long haul flights (the CVG-LAX and LAX-ATL) they actually fed everyone, it was a choice of steak or chicken, and coming home it was steak or pasta.

I had nothing bad to say about Delta. The fight attendents were wonderful (they were always offering beverages!). The price was right, too (Around $500 round trip, which at the time was an excellent fare to the west coast!).

I have been a very loyal Delta flyer for years now. I'll tell you why. Years ago I had taken a cruise and the charter flight was with Delta. I had taken a few flights with them before and had a Sky Miles card (not much milage though). Well, the flight was overbooked and I was sick as a dog. When I was called up to the podium and asked if I could be bumped I told them very nicely that I needed to be home ASAP. Delta put me in first class with no extra cost and no FF miles deducted.

I have flown many trips between Boston and Orlando on Delta and also between Orlando and New Orleans and Boston to Savannah. Also been to their hub in Atlanta. Their service has always been great.

I've never had any problems with Delta. I prefer United because of the extra leg room, but considering the prices Delta is offering, they are OK with me. Flights are almost always ontime out of Dulles. The 737s are pretty cramped and there's never enough overhead space, but those are problems on almost all airlines. I've booked Delta for our April and June trips. Couldn't pass up $147 rt to MCO.

Delta is for the most part a great airline. I've flown them a half dozen times with no real complaints.

One time(at band camp..... ) I had a 10 hour delay out of Hartford, CT. At first, I blamed Delta(because they cancelled the flight, then refused to give me a flight that day, but later caved in) but I realized it was the airport and not the airline, plus, one of Delta's agents upgraded my entire trip(To Fl and back) on First class(Nothing says fun like first class on a 777)! I had such a good time, I hoped we might have to circle Orlando for some reason My only real problem with them is their smaller aircraft, namely their MD-80's and 737's, are what I call "refugee planes" as they seem very small and crammed. Most people however, really dont have a problem with it. If you get a decent deal, fly Delta.

Have used Delta for both of our trips to Orlando. Fares were great. However, for both trips there were delays. One delay caused us to miss a connecting flight in Atlanta, and we didn't arrive in Orlando until after midnight. These problems were handled to our satisfaction, and we would use them again if the price is right.

I fly Delta from IAD 3 or 4 times a year, and love them. The only delay I've ever had (in more than 20 flights) was weather related.

I love Delta and will fly them whenever their rates are the same as SWA. Have only had one bag lost (well it took a longer trip than I did) and it was on the return trip, so, no harm, no foul in terms of use. It was delivered to my home by them and I received two 50.00 vouchers for another trip for my "trouble".

I've never had a problem with Delta, per se, and would use them if the price was right. I just prefer Continental, because, at least to FL, they have 757's instead of 737's (737's are very cramped, although 1 perk of flying Delta, they allow you to book in the exit row), they serve food instead of snack mix, and they usually have tv screens with cartoons, a sitcom and news.

737s don't have to be cramped, it is the way they organize the seats. SWA only flies 737s and there is plenty of room.
I have yet to be fed real food on a Delta Express flight. Just a snack thing. IMHO, Delta Express is the same as SWA with the exceptions being: Delta is more expensive, they assign seats, and they are more cramped. I love Delta, don't get me wrong, but, for the money, I will take the unassigned seating, the crappy snack (I eat before I leave) and the great on time rating.

I usually fly Delta Express non stop out of Newark. I am planning a late August trip and the Delta Express fare is still $201($191 web purchase). I was afraid to wait any longer, so I purchased connecting flights on Delta for $156.76 RT. The flight times were good, but I am connecting in Atlanta on the way down and Cincinnati on the way back. I am flying midweek so I hope it won't be too bad. I just wanted to fly on bigger planes this time. I usually get stuck in the middle seat as DH has long legs and wants to be in the aisle. The price seemed right.
Update: The $156.76 fare is back up to $212.00 today for the same flights.

Concerning the crampness of the 737's, it all depends on the model. Older 737 models(737-100, 200, 300 and 400's) are built in the old style of planes, while the newer models(500, 600, 700, 900) are built to be more spacious and resemble 757 & 767's. Wow, this is like the first time my job has actually given me some insight in the real world

You are correct, however, even the old style can have the seats reconfigured to allow for more leg and butt room.
Not sure what you do, but, I am sure happy it allows you insight.

Thanks gang, I can always count on you guys for insight. I have my ressies on hold. We got roundtrip from Cleveland with a change in plan in Cincinnati for 173.50! I have surf the airlines website for months now and this is the cheapest - so Delta it is!

WARNING! Seats on hold does NOT gurantee you the airfare you were quoted. If the fare sells out before you confirm you will not get the low rate. This is not just Delta I am pretty sure it is all airlines so if you think you have the fare you want, buy the ticket.

Thanks CarolA for the warning. I went online last night and booked the fare for 162.00 dollars roundtrip. After reading what you guys posted I just couldn't pass up that rate. I am jumping for joy!!inkbounc

We've had nothing but good luck with Delta. We've flown to WDW at least 5 times using them. They are one of two that fly direct from Providence. They have a 7 AM flight everyday to Orlando so by 12 noon I'm in the Magic Kingdom.

We fly Delta all the time. I got an awesome rate for Memorial Day weekend direct from Providence to MCO $142.0. My daughter-in-law works for Delta out of Providence, so Joycemarie next time you fly and Carri is checking you in or boarding you say hi to her. She is a little bit of a thing but full of vinegar!!
