I really would like to try some new easy and good recipes for appetizers for Christmas this year. Anyone have some that you could share?

Hot, cold? Finger food? For the actual day, or the season?

If for the day, before dinner? After?

I know. I'm way too picky, huh? :guilty:

Don't care! Any and all are welcome. Just us and my parents and BIL & SIL, and I'd like to try something new.

We have one that's been passed down through a few generations.

Bacon/Cheese Toast Thingys
1 lb White Cheddar Cheese
1 lb Bacon
1 large onion
Cocktail Bread

Use a food processor to mix the cheese bacon and onion. Spread it on the cocktail bread, pop it in the oven on broil until the cheese is bubbly. Cut the slices in half and serve.

Bumping this up for you - and if I can get to my recipe boxes later on, I'll try to post a few ideas for you.. :)

I had this at a party last year and it is very good, a little different too so that is fun. The pesto and tomatoes make it look Christmassy too!

BALSAMIC TOMATO/PESTO DIP

Container grape tomatoes; cut in half

Balsamic vinegar

8 oz cream cheese

˝ c fresh pesto

˝ c toasted pine nuts

Container of feta; crumbled

1 baguette, warmed and sliced

*

Marinade the tomatoes in a bag with balsamic vinegar over night.* Drain.* Mix the cream cheese and feta together.*** Spread cream cheese mixture in bottom of serving plate.* Spread pesto on top.* Add tomatoes and toasted pine nuts.* Serve on a warm baguette; sliced.

Pinwheels, and to be festive you can use the spinach and/or tomato basil tortillas. The fillings are endless, such as cream cheese, deli meats, salmon, seafood spread, etc.

I've followed this thread since the beginning and I've yet to try anything that wasn't delicious.

I have this:

Cajun Firecrackers

Ingredients
1 1/3 cup Canola oil
2 packages Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing Powder Mix
2 tbsp cracked red pepper
1 box saltine crackers (4 sleeves)
cream cheese

Directions
Remove crackers from sleeves and lay in a marinating Tupperware container standing up( use any container that will hold the crackers). All 4 sleeves will fit perfectly. In a measuring cup place remaining ingredients and stir well. Pour over crackers and close up container. You will flip this container a total of 4 times every 15 minutes.
To serve, have your guests spread the cracker with cream cheese. The hot and cool combination is wonderful and delicious.

Get large jalapenos... split them, but not all the way.... stuff them with cream cheese and diced red peppers..... cook in the oven until the jalapeno is soft.

EDIT... if you like, sweeten the cream cheese with a little sugar to offset the heat of the jalapeno.

I made this for Thanksgiving as a side dish, but everyone started dipping into it as an appetizer. There was nothing left. I've had requests already for this for Christmas.

ARTICHOKE - SPINACH CASSEROLE

1 stick butter, softened
2 sm. pkgs. cream cheese
1 can artichokes
2 boxes frozen spinach
Salt (to taste)
Pepper (to taste)
Progresso bread crumbs
**(I added parmesian & romano cheese to it)

Cook spinach according to package instructions. Stir into hot spinach the butter and cream cheese. Place mixture into 1 1/2-quart casserole; season to taste. Arrange sliced artichokes on top; cover with seasoned bread crumbs. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until bubbly.

**( I mixed 2 cans of artichokes into the casserole, rather than layer on top)

Everyone dipped into it with italian bread and crackers.
