Share dealing or share trading

I can remember a good thread from ages ago about buying shares but can't find it now.

My question is with regard to the different share buying accounts. To join the shareholders club does it matter whether you have a share dealing account (banks name on shares) or share trading account (your own name on shares)?

My own bank has a share dealing account that I can set up easily enough but if I need my own name on shares then it's a bit pointless me doing so.

You have to own the shares & have your name on the account
