Share and AP- is it really worth having both?

Hi all
We're going to DLP the week between Christmas and New year, not staying on sight so we're sorting out our own park tickets. We've decided to buy annual passes, and will return during the year. We'll just be buying 2 (199euro each) adult AP's. Were looking into shares for the 15% discount, but actually the cost of shares, registering with Halifax, and joining the shareholder club negates the discount on the AP's. Are there any advantages beyond this for bothering with shares? (Not so fussed about the little room for breakfast, as far as I can tell, that would be the only advantage...but thought I'd ask the pro's!)

Many thanks!

(P.S. if any AP holders will be in DLP on 26th, and willing to sponsor us, we'd much appreciate it....I've put our details on the thread about this....)

I guess in your case it boils down to, how many times over the years are you likely to be buying Dream APs? At 199 euros a go each, for one year, if you buy shares now when they are low in price and keep them, you'll be getting 15% discount on each of your APs every year, so thats 60 euros you're guaranteed to save on your AP purchases each year with shareholders discount.

You can only use sponsorship AP discount once every 3 years (you can't get a discount on your AP purchase with sponsorship unless you haven't held an AP in the 2 years previous to buying a new one).

The shareholders club gives you 15% off table service & buffets where as the AP only 10% but you do also get discount on CS with AP's

We have both, oh has the annual, i have the shareholders. When we go i have always found a package better value than a room only so i book the package witpark passes for me and dd and them add other other half on as room only when we arrive (norm about 4 euro for the trip!) that way we get all the discount options. Also i spend alot in the disney store in the uk and the 10% off in there makes it worth it for me. How many trips will you be taking *** you might be better getting one dream and one of the cheaper ones but you would need to make sure you would not be doing any trips on blackout days.

We have 5 Dream AP's and Shareholders - this saved me an extra €120 when buying the AP's and I was never charged the Shareholders club fee so I only paid €35 for 5 shares and the purchase was commission free from Halifax on one of their offers.

Hot chocolate and croissant x 5 is another saving for us at Salon Mickey

Most restaurants we have received a free orange from the AP's and then used the 15% discount from the shareholders card.
