Thanks again for everyone's thoughts and comments. I'm not sure what we're going to do. I have a reservation for WC this coming Summer. I'm guessing that I'll just ask the server when we order what's allowed/possible.

Another thought I was having is maybe ordering our meals, including the platter, to go (we're staying at CCVC)...if that's possible!

The skillet is not available to go, and neither are most TS meals at WDW.

No offense, and don't take this the wrong way, but it really seems like you're hellbent on doing something that is not allowed regarding the skillet. It seems like you're looking for every loophole you can get away with in only having to buy one skillet.

Simply put, the skillet at WCC is:

1. an aycte meal for ONE
2. not shareable
3. doggie bags not allowed
4. not available for takeout

Buuuuut....

There is a "child's" version of the skillet you could order for both of them (assuming they are under 10 years of age), and the total of the two child's platters would be less than ONE adult skillet. The child's skillet is still aycte...for ONE...not shareable...no doggie bags...not available for takeout.

At a buffet...a Disney restaurant doesn't care that 1 person only puts 1 thing on their plate and someone else puts 6 things on their plate etc etc etc

Same with the all you can eat skillet etc.

It's a PER PERSON charge no matter what the persons appetite is.

And I don't mind that all. I think it's totally understandable from a business standpoint:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

This is exactly why my boys won't be going to some of the restaurants my other family members will be.:rolleyes1

My idea doesn't answer the question, but if the OP just wants to share with her/his childen why not order a skillet and two smaller things and then ask if it is okay to share. I think that should be okay because everyone ordered something.

Although they're not supposed to do this, I think it depends on the server. Last year, my friend and four of our kids were there for dinner. We had mentioned in conversation to the server that we were not overly hungry as we had a late lunch. Our waitress actually suggested that one order the skillet and the rest order kids meals and that we could all pick from one another and get a taste of everything.

You won't be able to order them to go. They are not set up to do "to go" orders.

I didn’t realize there was a child’s version; thanks for mentioning that and sounds like the way to go!

As for loopholes, etc., I’m just trying to distinguish between actual facts and fiction. People make a lot of claims on these boards of which they have little to no actual personal first-hand knowledge of. Take this post for example...how many of you have actual tried to do what I am asking about? I have a feeling that many of the comments are lumping the platter in with the buffet restaurants and that might not be the case. Either way, it doesn’t hurt to ask the server when we go instead of just assuming.

My last question...does anyone know if the platter comes with ketchup???? :rotfl2:

I think that strategy could work because each guest has ordered something.

There are just too many reasons to not want to be a server these days. God bless all that serve. I bow to you:worship::worship:
I don't think the OP is saying they are going to throw a fit if they don't get their way. They just said that it doesn't hurt to ask. There are too many posts on here that show different answers. You won't know a definite answer until you ask your server. No harm in that.

I totally agree with what everyone is saying...but...

AYCTE at a buffet restaurant, to me (but it sounds like not Disney), is different than this situation because they bring you a plate of food. The "idea" behind a buffet place is you take what you are going to eat, so (hopefully) nothing goes to waste. But here, they bring you a plate of food...which gets back to one of my original questions; if you don't eat everything that they bring you, what happens with what's left over? Logic (but you are right...this is Disney!) would tell me that you would be able to take the rest "to go" so the food doesn't go to waste. So far though, it seems like nobody actually knows the answer to this one...can you take the remainder to go? But maybe, as DLgal mentions, they have it down to a science such that they bring you so much at first that there really isn't any left over....

I think you have a misconception of what an AYCTE meal is. While it is not buffet, it is treated as such. You get to have as much as you like, however you are not asked to trot back and forth to a buffet table to serve yourself. It is in fact a family style meal or in this case skillet, but the concept is the same.

Servers, not just WDW servers, are pretty skilled in how much food to bring in order to minimize waste, and to discourage people from ordering more to either share to take out.

Again the skillet is not set up this way. We can all order different food, however if sharing occurs there will be a charge for an additional meal.

You were given factual advise. You continues to look for more information. Personally I have no idea why people look to order food that does not work for the situation.

Thanks for all the comments!

Is it possible to get the "leftovers" to go or will the server not allow me to?

It would be a shame if they did not let ypu take home your own leftovers.

Such a waste of food.

Re: to go containers...

I always get some of my fried chicken from 50s Prime Time Cafe to go. It is just too much to eat at one meal when you also want dessert :) I am usually heading right back to the resort, not carrying it around all day.

Leftovers are fine from a standard menu item such as Prime Time.

Leftovers are not okay from an AYCTE menu.

I totally agree with what everyone is saying...but...

AYCTE is AYCTE, it doesn't matter if it is set on a buffet table or set on your table. The only difference is the on your table is a more limited menu and brought to you by your server. Same rules apply to both, especially pricing.

Yes, they have the kids version if they are in that age group. :thumbsup2

It's not fact or fiction -
It is an alacarte menu vs an AYCTE menu.

You are trying to differentiate the meals by the way it is served.
Disney does not differentiate. Both are AYCTE, and the pricing is shown as such and sharing not allowed.

But sharing an AYCTE is only allowed when one under 3 is eating off a parent's plate.

You will find a random CM who may let you take something home,
but it will totally depend on each situation, right down to each table consumption.

No they will not allow you to take what’s left over out of the restaurant.

Just think about it - some people would order more at the end of the meal just so they can have leftovers to eat later or bring back to their rooms.

Just exactly what would someone do with the leftovers if they did give them to you? Save them for lunch or dinner? How would a person keep them safe to eat in the hot Florida sun?

If your child is over the age of 9, prepare to pay the adult price. Everyone is lumping the buffet with the platter because the menu states it's priced per individual. Just like buffets and just like AYCTE. There are hundreds if not thousands of people on this board. Many of whom have eaten at WCC. I have eaten there many times. No one is reporting back that they've been able to do what you are asking to do. Does that mean you shouldn't ask your server? Of course not. You should ask them whatever you'd like. But you may want to come up with some alternatives if the answer to your question is no and you don't want to pay for 2 people to eat the skillet.

If you are looking to save money and have food similar to what is on the platter, why not just go to Roaring Forks and get a platter there?

They don't serve anything remotely similar to the WCC platter at Roaring Fork.
