Hopefully no one would put a server in an awkward position by ordering seconds of everything then asking for it to go

When we have gotten the skillet, anything left was the dregs of the meal, so to speak. Nothing I would have wanted to eat later since I didn't eat it now

I was allowed to save a few things on my platter. But my platter was an allergy platter, and the chef actually delivered extra just so I could take it with me.

My husband and son did not have that happen.

They put the large breakfast skillet in the middle of the table loaded with food to share. They then charge each person $19.00. We usually at most ask for a second skillet. My husband steals all the bacon (ha!) A waiter will happily bring you out an extra helping of just one item from the skillet if you like.

I don't like to waste food/drink so when I am at a restaurant I sometimes ask for just half a refill of a drink or an extra plate of bacon or sausage instead of overwhelming us with another huge plate or skillet of everything.

(I realize we paid for all you can eat, but sometimes we just want a 3rd and 4th helping of eggs for example---- I don't want the darn whole skillet coming out again and again.) :teeth:

When we ate there for dinner we had so much food left over from the first platter. The server wound up taking off the two kids cost from our bill. We only payed for two adults. We did not take any food with us. Always too much food at most Disney restaurants!

That's how it was when we had dinner there too. We asked for more of just the mashed potatoes and one of the meats, so that is all the server brought out instead of another skillet full.

As far as the to-go containers, I just received one at Jiko last October. I had to leave the restaurant due to what I now know was a flaxseed allergy attack, and my DH asked them to pack up my filet.

I get what the OP is asking. Some are reading it as can you take leftovers from EXTRA plates. The OP is instead asking can you NOT ask for more and take any food left over from the original plate. I don't know the answer, but I hope I can find out. When I start taking extended vacations to BRV when I retire in a couple of years, I can see my DH and I eating at WCC (since we love it!) and I can definitely see me not finishing my first plate. I would love to take the leftovers with me to my room for some future meals since we don't plan to eat out all the time.

They will let you take what is left to go... with that said there just will not be that much left.. they waiter offered us a 2 go thing every time we eat there. For us there are certain things we do not eat a lot of so that was left form the start and being we had 4 people I think there was one or two ribs left and maybe a few sausages and sides.. enough for a light meal. to be fair and sadly this has to be said not directed at you but if you order extra and eat none of it and ask for it to go you will likely have a different outcome.

So are you saying you DID get extras of certain things and STILL got to take some to go? If so, I understand you ate some off the second plate. Do I have this correct?

I totally agree with what everyone is saying...but...

AYCTE at a buffet restaurant, to me (but it sounds like not Disney), is different than this situation because they bring you a plate of food. The "idea" behind a buffet place is you take what you are going to eat, so (hopefully) nothing goes to waste. But here, they bring you a plate of food...which gets back to one of my original questions; if you don't eat everything that they bring you, what happens with what's left over? Logic (but you are right...this is Disney!) would tell me that you would be able to take the rest "to go" so the food doesn't go to waste. So far though, it seems like nobody actually knows the answer to this one...can you take the remainder to go? But maybe, as DLgal mentions, they have it down to a science such that they bring you so much at first that there really isn't any left over....

No they will not allow you to take what’s left over out of the restaurant.

Just think about it - some people would order more at the end of the meal just so they can have leftovers to eat later or bring back to their rooms.

Just exactly what would someone do with the leftovers if they did give them to you? Save them for lunch or dinner? How would a person keep them safe to eat in the hot Florida sun?

Well, we are DVC members and could take them directly back to our room. I don't think the OP is suggesting ordering more and taking it all with them. I think the OP is interested in taking leftovers from the first plate (as am I).

I haven't read all the replies, but while it comes out on a platter, it is an all you care to enjoy restaurant. (Meaning they will bring you more of whatever you run out of at no extra charge.) Because of this, I'm guessing the answer is no. It's basically like a buffet without having to get up and get your own food.

My idea doesn't answer the question, but if the OP just wants to share with her/his childen why not order a skillet and two smaller things and then ask if it is okay to share. I think that should be okay because everyone ordered something.

It doesn't work that way with AYCTE otherwise everyone would do that. If people share off of the AYCTE platter then they are supposed to be charged the platter cost as well.

Does anyone know if it's possible to share the All-You-Care-To-Enjoy Platter at Whispering Canyon IF you only order one platter for one person and NOT utilize the all you care to enjoy option? This would work out perfectly for my two kids, as I can see each one eating different items on the platter than the other and this sounds like it would be more than enough food for the two of them.

Thanks!

No. It's All-You-Care-To-Enjoy, priced per person.

If I’m not mistaken, isn’t there an all you can eat option on the children’s menu? I think that if there is then they will definitely not let you share.

OP, I think you have a much better chance ordering for everyone in your family & asking for a to-go container for leftovers, if you don't order refills, than you have ordering one platter for two people. Servers have been known to accommodate diners in the first situation. Naturally, that isn't always the case, but you at least have a chance. If the server says "no", be understanding, because they're just doing what they've been instructed to do. They don't make the rules. OTOH, I've never heard of anyone being able to order one AYCTE platter for two people.

Thank you for saying this! It is a very awkward position to be put in. The guest gets mad and takes it out of your tip.

Once when my son fell asleep at Liberty Tree Tavern before dinner was even served our server packed him some food for later. Also, once at Garden Grill when my son ate only a few rolls and a glass of chocolate milk (and this time he was a Disney adult, so close to $20 per roll!) our server gave us a box of rolls to take with us. Generally I try to avoid AYCTEs with him!
