He shall now be known as Witness Protection...lol

Hopefully we can actually win next year now that Kobe had his year.

I think it's going to be a really fun basketball season in Cleveland! (Hopefully not the last!:scared:)

He needs to stay healthy & I don't think he will be here beyond next year.

Seems to be a good deal for the Cavs.

I agree, but honestly? Shaq for one player who's going to retire and one that only averaged 4 points a game, plus a pretty worthless draft pick and some cash? I think we made out like bandits even if he has half the season he did last year. And the Suns got what they needed too.

Plus Lebron wanted him here and what Lebron wants, Lebron gets...

I wouldn't be surprised if he is here for a couple more years...especially if they win the championship and he takes a BIG pay cut to win more with Lebron and another superstar...but I wouldn't be surprised if you're right either! :thumbsup2

Have they actually announced the trade yet? I heard rumors, but nothing positive yet.

I would love for Yao and our Rockets to win a championship, but as long as it is ANYONE other than Kobe, I am good! :goodvibes

I think the league has to sign off on the deal, but other than that, it's done.

You heard the news about Yao right? That his foot isn't healing? I have nothing but the best wishes for him, but big men with bad feet are really bad news (speaking from experience with Z). I hope he's all healed up soon.

From a business point of view, the Cavs had nothing to lose by doing this, pretty much a no-brainer. But honestly, as an NBA fan, I wouldn't be counting on getting a trophy just yet.
Some years ago, Shaq was the most intimidating force in the game. Unfortunately that time is over, and I don't see him adding much more than his presence this year (Maybe 8-10 points a game and 6 or 7 boards).
I suppose it really depends on how he sees his role. If he sees himself as trying to relive his glory years (like he did in LA), then I see many problems ahead for the Cavs with Shaq and James almost working against each other for the ball. If, on the other hand, he sees himself as nothing more than a way to take some pressure off of James, and help control the inside game, than it might just work out.
Either way, it should definitely be interesting to see what happens.

Poor Yao has had so much trouble with his feet. I really hope it starts healing well. he is such a great guy.

It's good to see a sports team owner in Cleveland that actually wants a winning team and will do whatever it takes to accomplish that goal. That has been lacking for awhile.

My DH thought he would come to Dallas.....I"m bummed, I wanted to see him.

LBJ is all about TEAM, so wont be any problems with him & Shaq.

How they will use Shaq & Z will be the interesting side of this trade.

The Cavs are waiting for next years free agent pool & to sign LBJ. Yao & Chris Bosh will be high on the list of desired players.

Getting rid of Wallace is huge for the Cavs, don't have that contract hanging over them now. Sasha never seemed to get out of Mike Browns dog house long enough to warrant staying here.

It's easy to say that James is all about team, but the truth is that he's never had to share the floor (on a regular basis, not counting the Olympics) with another super star. I'm not saying that he won't be team first, but you really don't know until he is put into the situation.

Plus I'm not actually talking about James. I'm talking about Shaq being put into another Kobe like situation. At first Shaq and Kobe were able to get along, but near the end there was some major problems on the Lakers, as to who was the real star, and who would take the big shots. It really does depend on how Shaw sees himself as a Cav. Will he be willing to take a secondary role to James (regardless of how James sees himself, the fact is that he is going to take most of the shots), or will Shaq want to try and relive his glory days, and demand more of the ball.

Again, I'm not saying that it can't or won't work, all I'm saying is that it might be wise to reserve a little of the enthusiasm until we see how it works out.
