Shaping up for 2.0

Hi folks...

In the effort to keep things neat, I am going to merge this thread with the other Shape up Thread and name both Week 1.

When week two starts....can we rename the thread as oppsed to starting a 3rd thread?

Thanks,
Kevin

Absolutely! Thanks for merging the two. I was worried about having a bunch of threads out there anyway. It never dawned on me just to change the title. :confused3:idea:

I wanted to chime in to say something that might help put some perspective on goals.

If you put a lot of goals for yourself for a week, it's difficult to attain them all. Instead of saying you'll drink more water, exercise more, skip the snacks/vending/fast food...

Pick one goal for yourself for the week to start out. Just one. Start small.

It could be the water drinking. It could be moving more. Heck, you could get up during TV commercials and jog in place to start small. If you can manage to keep up with the goal of the week, I believe you're more inclined to stick with it.

Just remember: Perfection is not attainable. If we don't meet a goal, we shouldn't beat ourselves up over it. Start fresh the next day. This is such a common thing, and we're all allowed to be human.

I felt that I needed to bring this up so that when we do something we think is "bad", it shouldn't torpedo our efforts to keep going. By starting small, we can try to meet more goals.

This week was probably a big week of eating for many, since it was a holiday weekend. If we made choices that curbed some of the bad habits, it's a victory. If not, the question I ask is: "Did you have fun?" If the answer is "Yes", then you're enjoying life, and there's nothing wrong with that.

FYI: I had made sure I had enough points to be "bad" this week, which meant that I could eat the lasagna, the ribs, and the desserts I normally wouldn't have on a normal basis. I'll find out on Saturday if I lost, gained, or stayed the same. But whatever the case may be, I will not stop doing what I'm doing just because I splurged this week.

I've found that losing it slower makes me keep it off over the long haul, and I don't deprive myself if I make smart choices.

I could not agree more! :thumbsup2

WTG on all the activity yesterday everyone!!

Food was great yesterday, and I did play some Wii Tennis. Not exactly the activity I had in mind, but I wasn't sitting on the couch either, so it is a step in the right direction.

I just finished a Wii Fit workout, and I went for a walk last night and a bike ride the night before. I also did my body band video again yesterday.

I'm still writing down everything I eat, I actually joined sparkpeople. It's pretty easy to help track the foods and exercises, particularly mapping out my walks and bike rides, but I haven't figured out how to log video workouts.

Just great, now that I finally am committing to a plan to lose weight, they are finally selling Tasty Kakes here!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was born and raised in Philadelphia and miss them terribly.

I don't know whether to jump for joy or cry.

That's really great! What plan are you doing? WW?

I did day 2 of the EA Active 30 day challenge today. Soooore muscles (but in a good way, I guess). So I'm up to 60/100 minutes exercise for the week. :wizard: I'm enjoying it a lot, but I hafta admit I'm happy tomorrow is a 'rest day' on the schedule. I need to remember to stretch after working out, too, or my leg muscle will remind me I didn't when I'm trying to sleep.

Eating's back on course today, so I'm happy about that, too.

I was doing WW, but wasn't having alot of success, and what success I was getting was very slow. So my sister started me on a Plan called Isagenix for weight loss.
If you check it out on-line it's pretty expensive.
However if you wanted to know more, I can help you.
I get the products at a wholesale price, which is alot less than the prices they give.
I can't believe it works and tastes good, and makes me feel great.
I should be at my goal weight by the end of summer. Then I will go on to the maintenance plan. :)

I walked twice today 1.6 miles this morning before work and 1.4 miles at lunch. I may walk again tonight weather permitting, as I may not be able to walk as much tomorrow. I also Have not drank a soda all day only water.

Oops, sorry MonkeyPants didn't realize you started reviewing Active. Hope you don't mind if I add some comments as well? :)

:rotfl: not at all, I am very impressed with the Active package so far even if I have only done 3 workouts on it. I think its deserves some buzz. WiiFit is fun, but doesnt always feel like a workout, Active definitely does.

Well, I havent' had too much to be proud of this week (Parties for Memorial Day Weekend). But today I took a Spinning class. I was sick for 2 weeks before the cruise so I didn't go to the gym.

So I am starting today and I am going to be try to make it through the weekend. I have 2 birthday parties for me son with weekend. I have difficulty turning down cake.

Ooh, interesting. I'd be interested in hearing more about it (maybe via PM?), though I'm not sure "expensive" is in the cards for me. I've lost very slowly on WW myself, so I've been sort of half doing it, half incorporating other ideas. Not helping the scale this week, mind you (stupid thing :headache:).

The class is something to be proud of! Best of luck with the cake. That's one of my downfalls too. :wizard:

Today was a 'rest' day for me and the EA Active - something which my sore muscles and I are quite happy with. Eating's been on plan today, though I'm a little discouraged the scale hasn't budged an ounce from last week. So frustrating. I'm hoping for a least a little action by Sunday (weigh in day). Harumph. :guilty:

WTG on the spinning. I think I would kill myself. Do the best you can this weekend. We all understand the love for cake. :goodvibes

The metal monster can be so evil! Sometimes it just doesn't get the memo. I hope it has by Sunday! :cheer2:

I'll be weighing in tomorrow, hoping to be able to post some postive results here when I come home. Went food shopping tonight, and bought more fruit. I do have a question someone might know the answer to.... I have always enjoyed making a nice breakfast for the family of eggs with either bacon or sausage. Obviously, not the healthiest choice for me anymore. But in all reality, the rest of them don't need it either. Can anyone offer ideas for a healthy alternative to bacon and sausage, that won't ruffle too many feathers? For now I just bought the low sodium bacon, and figured I just won't have any of it. Any suggestions are much appreciated. And any recommendations for avoiding temptation at the movies? We're taking the kids to see UP tomorrow night.

Okay guys. I'm weak....

I'm confessing it's been a bad week for me. Donuts and Philly steak on Monday, Onion Rings and a Greasy Grilled Chicken Sandwich on Wednesday, Ice Cream consolation today.... Making a seriously cool, but highly suger intense birthday cake for Zoe today...

I have to straighten up!!!

I would stay away from the fake bacons. Sausage is another story. We use a lot of turkey sausage and really like it.

Thanks! Cake is evil! I have never met a cake that I didn't like. I am going to do my best this weekend and try to get back to exercising more. I would love to know more about the new Wii Active.

I find the movies very hard. I love popcorn. We are going to see Up this weekend in addition to the two birthday parties. Hopefully everything will calm down once summer is officially here.:dance3:

I weigh in tomorrow, too.

I still eat bacon or sausage from time to time, but I factor that into the points I want to use. When I want to use fewer points than those allow, I would use Canadian bacon. A few slices of that are way better than similar amounts of regular bacon or sausage. That's why an Egg McMuffin is the best choice for McDonald's breakfast, too.

Ugh, another crappy food day but I did get in a solid workout. A good 30 minutes of great core work and some sprint work along with a 1.5 mile run after. If only I could stop eating I might actually lose weight!

Today was my rest day, but I may go walk tonight, as the weather is perfect. 73 with no humidity and a light breeze.

Food Services killed my perfect week without eating a single cookie. They brought us their left overs from the week this afternoon at closing, rather than throwing them away. Ugh!!! Now I really do need to go walk tonight.

I was talked into going out for Japanese last night. Ugh. Not exactly the best choice of places, and my order wasn't much better. I did take half of it home and had leftovers for lunch today, so I guess that is something. Still must do better.

WI tomorrow morning. :scared1:

I did day 3 of EA active today ('bout 20 minutes), and I was still revved up at the end, so I did one of the stand-alone workouts too (the sports one, which was about 22 minutes) and was a REALLY GOOD idea until like .. minute 18, when I wanted to die. :rotfl: Of 42 minutes of exercise today, it felt like 39 of them were lunges. I know someday my legs/butt will thank me for that, but today is not that day. Ow. But still, that makes 102/100 minute of exercise for the week, so I met my lil' goal. :yay: :yay:

I think I managed to work it so the leg band doesn't fall off anymore. Seems like I wasn't putting it on high enough. The trainer lady responds better to my positions now, and it doesn't slide down all the time, so I think I may be on to something.

Anyway, the scale is still not being my friend, but I'm positive I'm doing good things for my body this week so I'm not going to fret over the number (well, I'm going to try not to..).

I like turkey pepperoni okay, but I've never been able to get into turkey bacon. I really like Gardenburger's breakfast sausage. I don't know what your family would think about veggie/soy instead of meat, though. I like all the Gardenburger stuff, but I'm not a huge meat eater, so that may make a difference.

You can do it! A bad week stinks, but to quote Ms. O'Hara, tomorrow is another day! But I gotta admit, all that sounds really tasty. :lmao:

Thanks! Cake is evil! I have never met a cake that I didn't like. I am going to do my best this weekend and try to get back to exercising more. I would love to know more about the new Wii Active.
I'm tellin' ya, cake has no business being as good as it is! I'm really enjoying the Active workouts so far. It's much more demanding than WiiFit but they still worked in a bunch of fun stuff (tennis, basketball, volleyball). So far I heartily recommend it!

Seems like we're having a rough food week in here. Sounds like you had a great workout, though!

D'oh! I hate when they have leftover snacks at work. It always seems like it's cake for me, too. Why are there so many cakes in the building!? :rolleyes1 At least it sounds like great walking weather where you are.

Not eating all of it in the restaurant is a good step, at least. I need to do that more often. Hope you get good news at weigh in! :wizard:

I did it!!! I weighed in today and the scale decided to be my friend!!!! Lost 3 pounds, for a total of 5 pounds since I started! :cool1: I'm so excited. Hope everyone has good news to share as well!
