Yeah, I know they're just vanilla shakes colored green. However, I looked forward to having one every March.

But McDonald's had to change their milkshake formula to triple thick. Blech! They're so thick, they're not even drinkable.

Sheesh! If I wanted to consume my shake with a spoon, I'd just get ice cream.

I looooove the shamrock shakes too and look forward to them ! we had one a couple of weeks ago and thought it was horrible ! I thought it was that they put too much syrup or something in them, but they're definately not good like they used to be :furious:

I just posted on another thread that I haven't been to Mc Donald's yet to get my shamrock shake. We always get them each March too. Hope it isn't a disappointment. :sad2:

Oh no!!!!!!!! I look forward to Shamrock shakes every year. Why do companies always have to go around messing with a good thing??

I think McDonald's changed their shakes from ice cream to yogurt a few years ago. For those of you that don't get one every year, this may be why they taste a little different.

We make our own Shamrock Shakes (for adults only) with Creme de mint (sooo yummy!!!) :cool1: :cool1:

Shamrock shakes...I couldn't think of the name...phew.

Shamrock shakes are vanilla shakes with peppermint flavor and green color. Yes, you can make your own with creme de menthe-yummy!

Care to share !?!? :teeth:

Sure, I'll share. Come on over Saturday at 5 for the party :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Bring the kids, they can have chocolate chip mint milkshakes :rotfl2:

Hmm, I'll have to see if our local Brusters is having any green treats :) I haven't liked McDonalds Milk Shakes since they switched them though....so I doubt I'd like the green one.

Ever since I was a little girl, I have always looked forward every year to Shamrock Shakes - "the first sign of spring" and the only time I ever have milkshakes.

I am so glad to hear that there are others out there who have been disappointed with Shamrock Shakes ever since they changed to the Triple Thick formula. I still have one a year, but it is more for the nostalgia than for the taste.

There are a number of things that companies have changed the "formula" for that I do not care for. Campbell's Tomato Soup for example. What you get now is certainly not what we had when I was growing up. :sad2:

I had one the other day and thankfully my mcdonald's doesn't do triple thick shakes. not all do. it did taste like it had too much syrup at first, but it got better! lol.

I had a Shamrock shake the other day, and it was pretty bad. They didn't even mix all the green syrup in, so some of it was floating on the top. Definitely not what they used to be! It's really easy to make your own at home. I don't color mine green, but I just throw a little vanilla bean ice cream, a little bit of Creme de Menthe, some chocolate syrup and a tiny bit of milk, and I have a chocolate mint shake! You can use green colored Creme de Menthe if you want the green color to your shake. You can also use peppermint extract if you don't have the liqueur, and then a couple drops of green food coloring. I also use Bailey's Irish Creme in shakes frome time to time - it's divine!

For fast food restraunts, I think Jack in the Box still has the BEST shakes! When I don't get their Oreo cookie shake, I usually ask for vanilla, strawberry and chocolate mixed together - it's heavenly!

:furious: went to McDonalds right after I picked up DD from school. The idiots said they ran out of the mix to make the shamrock shakes. The McDonalds down the street from me is such a joke!!!!!! :furious:

They constantly mix up our order!!! The only good thing I can say about it is that it is very close to our home. :sad2:

I had one last year and I thought it was chalky, yuck. May as well be Milk of Magnesia.

I want a REAL shake with mint ice cream and a shot of Bailey's. Yumm!!

ever since they changed to the Triple Thick formula.

This is why I rarely ever get shakes at McDonald's - someone could seriously injure themselves trying to suck that glop through a straw!! When they first came out, I was unaware of the change in formula and thought for sure that I had sucked my intestines up into my throat and would be doomed to wear a colostomy bag for the rest of my life.. :scared1: Right then and there I wore them off for good - unless I'm getting one to take home, where I can thin it out with a half-gallon of milk.....

I LOVE shamrock shakes and this thread has me thinking about getting one tonight.
