Shamrock Shake @ McDonalds

silly question, i rarely get mcdonalds and saw it the other day , what is it ?

Yup. And I'm so glad that this year they've FINALLY decided to do right by their customers and offer Shamrock Shakes at nearly ALL locations. No more trying to hunt down the 1 out of 100 McDonald's that serves them.

It is a mint flavored milkshake. It is dyed green for St. Patrick's Day.

I am addicted but have been really good and have only had 2 since they appeared here last month. Compared to other years, I am showing a lot of willpower, lol

That sounds yummy, maybe ill break down and get one tomorrow .

Either Everyday with Rachael Ray, Food Network Magazine, Woman's World, or some other magazine I read this week (I'm home sick) has the recipe for the Shamrock Shake!

I had my first one last year and I didn't care for it. And I love mint. :confused3

Shamrock Shakes have been a staple of my St. Patrick's Day Season eating. Unfortunately, McDonald's has ruined the experience a bit by adding whipped cream and a cherry?!?!?

I'm sorry, but as a lifelong fan of the green, minty, goodness, don't mess with my shake! Put in back in the opaque, wax-coated McD's cup, and leave the whipped cream and cherry to those hipster caramel mocha drinks! :rotfl:

These imposter shakes are not Shamrock Shakes. I miss the good ole' days when they pulled that lever and the green goodness flowed out into the cup. Now they mix who knows what to make it appear like its a Shamrock shake, but I know the truth, my taste buds can't be fooled.

The McDonalds right near my house is the one McDonalds that does not have them. Of course, that could be a good thing...

So gross. But then again I hate mint. It tastes like a toothpaste milkshake to me. Blech. But DH LOVES them.

I'm with you. When they changed the "formula" I lost all desire for the Shamrock Shake. Used to love it, now I can do without.

Thanks for the warning! I wanted to get one but I dont think I would like the changes!

I am! But I haven't had one this month yet. Just this morning I was thinking about it, and I probably will break down and get one this weekend. I also think they can keep their whipped cream and cherry as well. I noticed that last year, and I was wondering why they put that now.

I can't believe I remember this. I've only had one shamrock shake before, when I was 6 or 7 years of age I believe. It was a memorable drink, it made me so, so sick. I probably caught food poisoning from it, but what ever it was, one shamrock shake in life has been enough for me. I do remember it tasting alright though.

Then you and the other naysayers might like the do-it-yourself version. It's vanilla ice cream, lowfat milk, and peppermint extract. And green food coloring if you want.

I used to like McDonald's shakes until they changed it. Now it's just soft ice cream with syrup mixed in it. I wish they would change it back to what it used to be :headache:

Thanks for the tip, I might have to try that on Saturday, and I'll definitely add the food coloring :thumbsup2
