Can anyone recommend one. I don't see many that are clarifying and I need to read each bottle in the aisle - don't see any that say oily hair - I could be missing it of course.

Thank you.

I have never found anything in the drugstore brands that works as well as the higher end brands. I rotate between a few brands, Back to Basics, Paul Mitchell and Frederic Fekkai. All three are clarifying shampoos, the Paul Mitchell one is actually marketed to swimmers it's level 3, and they all work really well on me.

I do an apple cider vinegar rinse to clarify my hair once a week (usually on a Saturday so I don't go to work smelling like a salad -lol). Works well and makes my hair so shiny. My shampoo and conditioner is Too Sexy volumizing. Sometimes a shampoo that removes oil can stimulate your scalp to produce more..

Pert for "Light" hair works great. It also says "For Fine or Oily Hair" in finer print (I guess that just saying "oily" risks offending potential buyers!).

A tea tree oil shampoo will work on oily hair, too. My DDs use the Organix Tea Tree, around $6.99 a bottle and can be found at the drug store or grocery store. It is in a green bottle so it really stands out from the rest on the shelf. (Also, I have noticed it too, none of the bottles ever state 'For Oily Hair' now. Maybe it isn't PC to call it oily anymore or something, I don't know. :confused3 lol) My kids really have the oily hair issue in their early teens, tea tree shampoo has been great for that.

Thank you. Many great suggestions here. Taking notes.
(This is for my daughter).

I have super-oily hair. I can't skip a day washing it (believe me, I've tried) or it looks horrible.

I used Bumble & Bumble Seaweed shampoo. It's pricey though - $17-20 a bottle depending on where I buy it. My Target has started carrying it in a BOGO pack so I pay $20 for 2 bottles which is much better. It only takes a little too so it lasts quite a while.

About 2 months ago, I decided I wasn't going to pay $$$ for it anymore and tried to switch to something else thinking that surely by now there was something out there that would work just as well.

After wasting much more $$$ on shampoos that just didn't cut it, I'm just switching back.

DD12 was looking greasy and flaky not long after each wash, so I got some Garnier anti-dandruff Intense Clean. It was the only thing I could find that wasn't "moisturizing". She looks good much longer now that's she's using it.

Also make sure she is putting conditioner on only the ends, not the scalp.

Bumble and Bumble is the only thing that has worked for me also. I have used the Seaweed kind from Target as an earlier post said but you can also go online and buy the "Tonic" shampoo which has tea tree oil and works really well. It's definitely pricey but there is a reason for that.

I have really fine. oily hair and tried so many different products. Believe it or not the one that I've been using for years now is Head and Shoulders.

Thanks again. She has tried the Pantene and Suave clarifying. I wonder if it's too much conditioner she is using - Pantene.

She has what I call straight, chinese hair and when she was young, I need to use a bottle of spray/detangler to get the knots out. After trying a ton of conditioners (even the $20 bottles), Pantene conditioner worked the best. Maybe it's time she switched to a different brand too.

I will try these products one at a time - I just bought the Organic Tea Tree yesterday for her. Have written down all these products.
Thank you.

Neutragena clarifying-kind of hard to find. Better than Suave. My conditioner is "Thicker Fuller Hair Weightless conditioner" and can be found on drugstore.com
I love it! It actually conditions and is weightless. I don't use a lot but just a little on the ends allows me to comb through. my hair is fine and oily, a dirt magnate. I wash every day.

Head and Shoulders is great for getting hair back to "normal." Usually, nixing oily hair starts with getting your scalp healthy. Clarifying shampoos help with removing build up from products, but very few of them will do anything to improve the condition of your scalp.

Ok i have been using Goldwell -Duel Senses for Volume. I think that is what it is called but the conditner is a rinse out gel it is the weirdest stuff ever but I love it & I can comb my hair. DS who is olier than me use a tea tree shampoo.
