To all the folks I saw (especially those who had their kids participating) at our resort last week filling personal water bottles with soda. :sad1:

Wow.....I really hate that sort of stuff but I have to believe that the Karma that will come back to them will be 10 fold.

This is probably the reason why the resort mugs go up all the time. . .

I could not do that--no way---

sad :sad1:

While I agree that it was a tasteless thing to do and of course against the rules, don't you think that a "10 fold" karma punishment is kinda of harsh? What's going to happen to them? Will they come back in the next life as a rodent or vermin? Wow! That's quite the punishment and I know one thing for sure, I won't be bringing my mug back to Disney for a free, illegal refill. I knew Karma was tough but not this tough. :rotfl2:

Seriously, the parents should be held accountable and looks like they are slacking in "bringing the kids up right" department. Where was the CM to stop them? I'll bet that in a short time that all of the refill stations in WDW will have the sticker that you can purchase at your resort for refills, like in BB. The soda fountains won't work without the barcode on the sticker and will cut down on theft of product.

I've actually done this but I put my bottle in my resort mug when I was filling it. It was easier then trying to pour it from the mug into the bottle!

I'm surprised the employees did not see and stop it. I know they did when we were there. They were very aware of who had the mugs and who did not.

It amazes me what people will try to get away with. :crazy2:

We had the RESORT MUG. I just could not carry it and one of the employees told me to do it instead of try to pour it into the bottle - as long as I had the mug with it was ok with them. It's not like we didn't pay for it nor did we fill up a bottle and mug at the same time.

Golly gee, should I feel guilty? Many times this past weekend either myself or my mother filled our personal water bottles with (gasp) water in the food court at POR. BTW, the water dispenser is right next to the Coke so if our bottles hadn't been clear it might have looked like we were filling them with something else.

All this talk about refillable mugs on this website makes me think one thing...people drink WAY too much soda.

They made money on us!! We only had soda twice during our stay and coffee once a day.

The Soda is very cheap when bought in bulk like disney does .
This is no excuse for being dishonest by no means but why Disney doesn't make a big deal of it.

They do the bar codes at the water parks due to the heat of drinking nonstop all day.But in the resorts they know that they are still making money off the cups.

I am confused...you mean instead of buying the refillable mugs that the Resorts offer(for like $12.00ea) they would use a random water bottle (like say dasani) and fill that with soda from that commissary there at the ASM?
HOW COULD CM'S ALLOW THAT..that would be so brazen in public like that to do that....wow...and so "in the open"! Some people have NO class! :confused:Shame, shame on them.

Yes I would say you are correct in this assumption. ::yes::

tmt martins - I know you were not suggesting that filling personal bottles was ok just because the soda is cheap.

That said, the syrups for the soda aren't all cheap. Coke, Diet Coke and Mtn. Dew require hazardous material handling in transport. Besides the syrup cost, the CO2 to add the fizz can get pricey, even in bulk. The biggest cost involved is maintenance on the soda dispensers. Especially due to the high volume and the sticky, sugary syrups involved, they breakdown a lot and maintenance is pricey.

Regardless of their costs, Disney has the right to set their prices for mugs and to dictate the rules regarding their use. Cheaters (especially those raising little future cheaters) cost all of us in rising mug prices and in a lot more areas of our lives than just our Disney vacation.

I bet if we all started bringing this to the attention of the CM's while it was going on it would help. I personally would welcome barcodes. I think the ones at Blizzard Beach work great!

Disney doesn't pay for the soda, it's part of the exclusive agreement with Coke. Granted, people should not just walk up and fill their bottles, but I have seen people buy one mug, then fill and pour, fill and pour, fill and pour, even into popcorn buckets! I'm not sure the CMs would/could say anything with the current set up.

besides the blantant stealing going on, kids are drinking way too much soda...i see the bad effects of soda everyday...to me, that is where the lazy paretning comes in, in allowing kids to drink soda...and yes, i am judging people.

Well shame on me...I buy everyone mugs the first day. But I also bring with me insulted bootles on a strap for my trips.

If coming in from a park or decide to take a quick walk and have my bottle and NOT my mug...yes I have done this and will coninue to do and I decide I want a soda, I will fill up my "drinking utensil". IF a CM cares enough about busting my "soda adventure", then they can surely escort me to my room (when I am ready to return) and check to make sure I "own" a resort mug.

I would figure there are many other things to worry about, but hey, that's just my 2 cents (about what the bottle of soda cost) :goodvibes

No not at all as my post said I think this is wrong but the cost is why I think they allow it to continue.

It would cost more and cause more problems to have the CM's enforce this thats all.

kirbsam ::And what do you drink .And what is your take on us lazy parents that let our kids drink Soda. Now thats not by no means all my EDD drinks (Mostly milk) but I am one thats drinks nothing but Soda & water when outside and have done so for 30some years .Judge away.

:confused3 Geeeezzzz... Give me a break :confused3 - All I wanted to do was fill 1 little 2 liter bottle (I picked up at Wal-Mart during my grocery trip - purchasing groceries to cook a roast in my crock-pot in my room at the All-Stars - it's tough to feed a family of 8 staying in one room). It really wasn't my idea but my 250 lb. 12 year old did not want to get out of her stroller.

We were in a HUGE hurry - we had been going commando ALL DAY (it's AMAZING how many rides you can get on when only one person in your group has to stand in line while the rest push their way up when you are close to the end) We were in a hurry to get to the Poly Pool for some great swimming!
