Shame on US!!!

Perhaps the DIS could start a new section for "gripes and complaints" so that if you are wanting to post and discuss negativities about DISNEY you could make a thread on there. That way, those interested in reading and commenting on such things could do so freely without having to be involved in the trip planning threads.

I'm new to posting here. I read lots of posts, both the negative and the positive ones. There's a difference between giving negative feedback about an experience you had with Disney and being just plain nasty about it. Luckily, I am able to take things people say with a grain of salt and form my own opinion.

Tinkerbell says roar to negative posts!

Our poodle's name is Tinkerbell.. :)

I don't think it has gotten any worse.

People fight on the internet. That's what they do.

They had their favorite stuff to fight over and it was taken away, so they're going to fight about other stuff.

We have also always had threads with people saying, "It sure is getting worse around here lately! Is it me/the snow/the heat?"

I don't mind (and sometimes like) the fights. Always enjoyed a good Refillable Mug Bruhaha. :)

I saw the thread about Steve Jobs' death and thought, "Oh, I wonder what they're fighting about in there." Sure as heck, someone had posted that she felt it was inappropriate to be discussing it in a thread posted in TPAS, which she bolded and underlined, lol. And people were pissed off with her and pretty much calling her a whining nitpicker.

I am never disappointed. :)

But it isn't new.

At all.

I'm new to the boards (the Disney boards, but not message boards in general) but I have really appreciated people taking the time to respond to my silly questions. ;) I skip over the inflammatory threads and read what I feel will help me.

I remember the first time my parents took us to WDW way back in 1980 (81?). We have a picture of us under the monorail and tears are streaming down my mom's face. She grew up poor and never thought she'd have to opportunity to come to a place like Disney. But she made it. It was Christmas week, the temps were hot, there were no fastpasses. We had the time of our lives.

Now I leave in a week to take my own kids to WDW for the very first time. I don't care how long we wait for a bus, if we don't get FP for Toy Story, if we sleep in one morning instead of making rope drop, if someone cuts in front of us in line, if our food is cold, or if we have to walk too far to the main building at CSR. None of it matters because I'll be in Disney with the people I love most. <puffs on the peace pipe>

Also, I ordered some Crocs thanks to some advice I got here. Fashion be dammed, I want to be comfortable. :cool1:

16 years ago my DD (2 at the time) wanted so badly to go to Disney World. We booked an overpriced trip through a local travel agent and spent 4 nights at WDW. 18 months later we started planning our next trip and I decided to book it myself rather than going through the travel agency.

I can't say exactly when but at some point after that second trip I discovered the greatest Disney resource, the Disboards. Over the years I have learned so many great things and shared in so many stories. I've discovered trips for making transportation easier, dining at great restaurants, using fast passes, and on and on and on.

Over recent months and even years I have noticed how posts have taken an increasingly negative turn. I know, there have always been little arguments and we've always had people coming on here just to voice complaints. But when I opened a thread where someone was asking should they cancel their first Disney trip because of the negative things they are reading on these boards, I was ashamed.

So, my goal for the next few weeks is to start positive, upbeat threads about magical experiences, about useful information, about the things that make Disney World, well, DISNEY WORLD.

Who will join me in my quest to bring back the magic that made me love these boards in the first place? :grouphug:

I know, I hate it when people post deliberately negative threads with judgey titles for the sole purpose of criticizing other posters...

Oh. Wait.

Hi Diz/Mama

I find the critical posts to be very beneficial to me. It seems that many people feel the same way due to the number of replies and views they receive.

I am a "the glass is half empty" kind of gal. I don't like surprises. So if there is a problem someone had, I want to know how to avoid or cope with it. If I go on my trip expecting less than magical perfection, I won't have the disappointment some face.

I LOVE Disney and have been there approx. 13 times. I know the good things and have experienced some of the bad. I have learned so much from other people's problems that it's been worth sifting through the stroller, line jumping, ECV, Brazilian/Pop Warner threads.

Indeed I like the positive posts too, but prefer a more balanced assessment.

I will say that the posters on this board have been extremely kind and helpful to me-no exceptions.

What a great thread! I just have to say a big thank you to you all because my last 3 trips were magical thanks to these boards!!

I agree with the PP who said people complain their vacations were completely ruined for a reason like not getting towel animals. Really??? It does seem like people have become very serious about little things. I look at it like this: I'm on vacation, not at work, I'm not shoveling or driving in snow, and I'm very blessed to be able to travel to WDW when there are many many people who will never be able to get there. Be grateful for your blessings and lighten up. :)

Yay and thank you :) I read that thread too and found it sad. Although I joined over a year ago I only really got into the boards since coming back from my first (proper) trip recently - I wanted to be part of the Disney Family and share all my joy but to be honest, I was dismayed and saddened by all the negativity. I also felt like I was barging in on a private club that knew so much more than me, seen so many changes therefore my opinion would be oh-so-newbie.

I have been trying to avoid the negativity and found so many nice and very funny posters and I now want to join your new cause :p

We are a very fortunate family that frequents Disney World...a lot.. and no matter how many times we visit, I can't wait to book another trip! Disney World has provided so many magical moments with my family and I would never want to know what life without it would be like:)

Happy thoughts and pixie wishes!!
