Has anyone tried this? Does it work even remotely has it shows on TV? Any input appreciated:)

Everytime I see it I think of the Saturday Night Live parody:rotfl:

My wife has two (one for home, one for vacation house). She likes using it a lot. She sits in her chair watching television and uses the shake weight (holding it above her head, etc). Indeed, it is really the only piece of exercise equipment she has consistently used for the past three or four months.

Even if it was proven to be the best workout ever I am not sure I would be able to use the Shake Weight with a straight face nor would I be able to stop myself from saying a whole bunch of comments that would not be very DIS friendly.

We sell this in my Target. 1 day i happened to see one that was missing the box and had an "as is" sticker on it cause it was missing whatever it comes with. Honest to God I have absolutely No Idea why anybody would think that thing would work:confused:

My 3lb hand weights are heavier than this thing. I haven't even seen the commercials but I'm pretty sure I'd be on the floor laughing if i ever did.

OP do yourself a favor and buy some real handweights. Start at 2-3lbs and go up as needed.

Funny, because my co-workers and I have the same thoughts. And I think they have one for men and one for women. Who says capitalism can't be fun?:confused3

....well, that explains your 'username'...

Actually, the SNL character was Landshark. Mine is Lan (Local Area Network) shark. It is a play on the SNL character. Not quite sure what the:rolleyes: was for

I cannot watch the commercial for the men's shake weight without having completely inappropriate thoughts. The original (woman's ) one was bad enough, but the men's one sends me into fits.

I was struggling to remember just what this item is until I read your post. NOW I remember!!! Oh my :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I don't see any reason it wouldn't work for what it is designed. It certainly does cause the muscles to contract so there is no reason to think that it would not help increase the strength and tone of those muscles.

What you need to realize is that you cannot lose fat in a targeted spot. If you want to lose the fat in your arms, you have to engage in a diet and exercise regimen that will cause you to lose fat overall.

Also, if the skin on your arms is loose, no amount of exercise or diet will tighten it up. this may require surgery to remove excess skin.

oh no didnt realize there was a mans version.. have to go google to find that commercial :rotfl:

I didn't realize there was a man version of this thing either. The first time I heard about it was from the guy who works next to me - he and his son saw the commercial for the women's version and he proceeded to tell me all the gory details. I about died laughing when I finally saw the commercial myself. Couldn't they have made the commercials so that is doesn't look obscene?

I have to say that this silly contraption intrigues me
and likely would be something I could use. I'm typically weak in the upper body. Also, there is more to our muscles than the "big popular kinds" like bicep, tricep....etc.

I haven't been to Pilates in almost a year...but the "shaking"/arm pumping remind me a bit of what the arms are doing in the hundred.

For me---it is the little moves that do wonders for improving my strength. Not the typical dumbbells or machines.

Sure--you won't look like Arnold with this equipment, but that really isn't what it is designed for.

But those little moves with little weight can indeed strenghten the upper body. I remember not wanting jiggly arms for my wedding and I kept a very low weight dumbbell in my office and worked my triceps several times
a day. My arms didn't jiggle at my wedding because that toning.

I think some are mocking this without understanding what it is. I've been in PT many times for neck/back issues and I am stuck on the "silly" weakling equipment. Heck---I use therabands.:yay:

Can't wait to see this in a store so I can pick it up.

I have one and actually like it! I have no misconception that it's going to give me a set of decent arms, but it's a whole lot more fun than just plain weights.

And you cannot hang clothes on it!
