Ack! The boards are slow today or I am needing more DL talk :)

Soooo.... What do you prefer, the front of the ride? the middle? the back?
Does it matter by ride? I think we can all agree that the tomorrowland side of Matterhorn is "faster" but what about the thrill of big thunder? Is it better bouncing around the back? Or speeding along in the front?
I have my preferences but maybe I am missing something? Someone else's perspective? And do you prefer night or day?
I like... The back of BTMRR @ night it's bouncy
The front of SM not seeing anyone in front woohoo!
The back of Splash not as wet :)
The back of Indy and turning around every once in awhile
And the front of Indy to see the big Ball coming at you!
The back of Screamin' not sure why but for sure as the sun starts to set :)
I could go on and on but what do all you Disers like?

BTMRR- back!
Splash-2nd seat, i usually don't get too wet there.
Indy- BACK!
Screamin-back or front, there is a lag in the front when you are going down hills (creating tension), and in the back you go right on down!
Space-back or front. i notice when we have more heavy set people as opposed to smaller people we go faster. one time i flew threw the whole thing and the next i thought we were going to basically stop!
madderhorn.. i don't particularly like that ride anymore. last time i sat on my boyfriends lap and it hurt so bad. i have never been able to sit by myself on that ride.

i think that's it! and i have to sit on the top/middle of Soarin' because i get sick if i see the bottom of the screen.

Well, you didn't mention this ride, but I had an immediate answer! Star Tours - riding in the back is a different experience than riding in the middle or front! First of all, for some reason I was able to access the darn under-seat basket to hold your bags a lot easier in the back row. But other than that, your feet may be slightly off the ground, and it is just a lot....wilder, I guess you could say. My friends and I stumbled upon this secret about the last row of Star Tours back in the '90s. Recently, Bumbershoot said she was on Star Tours and noticed that the back row was an entirely different experience than other rows, too, so I knew we were not crazy!

Try it! Next time you go on Star Tours, ask the CM to put you in the last row.

Also, on POTC, I love to be in the front row (and believe me, considering how scared I used to be of that ride when I was younger, that is a HUGE improvement for me). My friend HATES the front row and wants to be in the back so she doesn't have to see the drops coming before everyone else sees them!!

POTC- front row
Soarin- I think I now prefer second row over first because you don't see the edge of the screen. More imporantly is to sit in in the middle section.
Indy- back edge
Splash- back so I don't get very wet.

I never ask where to sit though, it doesn't matter all that much to me. It is still fun.

Splash- Front for awesome splish-splash and view
Indy- Front or side
California Screamin and Big Thunder- Absolute back every time, the front gives no thrill, and my mom asked why it felt slower in the front, duh, back just keeps going, even on lifts. lol

and as for the Star Tours stumble upon, awesome!
totally requesting back next time I go :D

Yes, try it! See if you notice a difference. When my friend first suggested last row of Star Tours to me back in the '90s, I thought she was nuts. But then I noticed it seemed a little more rollicking in the back. I still thought we may be imagining it until Bumbershoot said she noticed a similar effect in the back row! So try it and see if you agree!

Another great thread idea!!

I like the front in Screamin', but I don't really care as long as I can ride it!!
I also like the front on TOT.
I am usually at the front on Splash, because my kids don't want to be. I love the front, leaning forward. and you can also duck so the people behind you get wet!:rotfl:

The back is the best on Big Thunder.

Other than that, I really don't have a preference. I just want to GO to Disneyland!! I am happy anywhere!!!!!

Big Thunder- I like front and back. See the front seat is faster as the train goes up hills and the back is faster on the parts where the train is going down hills. There is plenty of airtime on both. However, the goat trick is great in the back.

Indy-Back right = snake seat = the best

Space-Front because of the wind in your face, but doesn't really make a difference

Matterhorn- More air in the back, front for the view

Splash- Front even though it gets very wet. I love it.

California Screamin-Same as Big Thunder minus the goat trick.

Soarin-Front, duh.

Star Tours-I totally agree-the back row is the only place I like to ride. It just seems so tame in the other rows. :confused3 I love to have my feet off the floor.

Big Thunder-Back

Soarin'-1st row, center section.

Indy-front so DD9 can drive. I like the side so I can lean out on the turns.

Screamin'-front (usually don't wait) or the back.

Splash-anywhere but the front!

Star Tours I can only do the back, the middle or front makes me so sick. :( Splash I have to be middle or back, I can't do front.....OMG I would have a HEART ATTACK falling down that drop. All others I can sit wherever.

Indy - Front
Screamin - I like riding in the front once, then I would prefer the back.
Space Mountain - Once in the back, then always in front.
Pirates - Middle only because I can't stand getting wet. Sometimes I like the back.

I don't particularly care for the Matterhorn or BTMRR (hurts my back or other parts of my body like arms, legs, etc.) and I would only go on Splash Mountain if it was extremely hot since I don't like being too wet. One of these days I must try to get a back row seat on Star Tours. I didn't realize it was so much better!

Generally I like the front seat for all rides - except Splash, coz I don't like getting wet :rolleyes1 Because I like not having anyone in front of me. I agree though, the back of the coasters does "go faster"

oops we got moved LOL I thought this would fall under planning "planning where to sit" :rotfl:
I never thought about star tours that's some great info :)
I will try it for sure cause I have skipped it the last 3 times I was there!
I knew I wasn't the only one who thought different seats added different thrills! LOL I just reread that it :rotfl2: yikes!

What is the Goat Trick? I have heard so many people talking about it lately! :)

I didn't know what it was either. I had to google it. I guess you keep your eye on the goat chewing dynamite while riding the in the back. Supposed to give you a wild ride :) I will have to try it :thumbsup2

The goat trick works wherever you sit, but yes, just watch the goat all the way around the corner and OMG!!!!! LOL Gets me every time.....

Matterhorn is better in the front for me! Space Mountain I like in the front too! Splash Mountain, second seat from the front. Screamin and Big Thunder near the back :)

On BTMRR, I like the very front, because you don't have all those heads in the way. It makes for a better experience. I also prefer this ride at night time.

Indiana Jones, I prefer the very front.

Splash Mountain, I like either the first or second seat.

On California Screamin', I like to be as close to the front as possible.

Space Mountain, I don't really have a preferance. Too dark to see any heads in there, anyways! ;) The last time I went on it I was in the front. It was actually quite refreshing.

Being in the front on Matterhorn is cool too.

And yes, Star Tours is best in the back. It really is a noticeable difference from the other rows. :ewok:
