So recently, my dd didn’t renew her AAA and I was on it as well.

I call and go hey I’m trying to get the rate for myself .
The guy was trying to sell the bigger tier . I said nope that not what we had
I value my time and money and I don’t like when either gets wasted.
He was giving it his all to sell it. I said you know that is ok I’ll look somewhere else thanks anyway.
I went with another company and that was that. Or so I thought .
A few weeks later I get a new AAA card in the mail.
I was thinking ok I guess dd decided to do it again.
I didn’t mess with it because I have another company.
Well now I get a bill saying you have t paid us. I didn’t sign up with you.
I asked my dd hey did you renew after all? Nope.
So I’ll be calllng tomorrow and seeing why they think I signed up.

if you did not use it after the previous membership ended you don't owe anything. same as aarp-they send a new card and bill even when you only sign up for a 1 year membership.

One big advantage with any of these services is to pay by check for their annual fee. NEVER pay with a credit card where you agree to 'auto' renewal. When the year is over they can send you whatever sort of 'bill' they want you can just toss in the trash and ignore them.

I noticed that AARP was sending out their 'bill' to my parents over 9 MONTHS before it was due which made NO sense to me. Look for the actual expiration date shown on the bill and have gotten my parents to pay their renewal fee about 1 month before the deadline. There is no reason for AARP to be asking you to pay months before it is due. Seems rather shady of them to operate that way.

Have never belonged to AAA, but periodically I get their ad in the mail that includes a membership card and various stickers. I just toss in the trash. Seems like some of these companies try to fool you into thinking this is a legit bill for something and you pay it without realizing it is advertisement.

They always send renewal cards ahead of time so that isn't a surprise to me.

Some plans do have automatic renewal and this is usually in place if your daughter got an especially good deal on membership, like adding you free last year, so it could be your daughter forgot, lots of people forget subscriptions.

Since you are not the primary, your daughter is the primary, it is unlikely they canceled when talking to you so she will need to be the one to cancel.
