Has anyone ever created a showbox with baby/children's clothes? I have been commissioned to create a grandmother's tribute box with a little girl's shirt. Anyone ever done this?:goodvibes

PJ did one for her create your own thing for 4-H...
She took her beautiful velvet dress (size 12 months) that my Pappy bought his first grandbaby for her first photo shoot the day she was born... Yes, 12 months at newborn... He couldn't find any dresses he liked in her size.. so he bought it, explained to the nurses what happened and they made the dress work.. they tucked it behind her.. He also bought her ruffle socks and shoes that she included in the box... It's a treasure to us becuase Pappy bought it... It was his thing.. no one asked... evidently he had been planning it since the day I found out I was expecting..and once he knew it was a girl he was on a mission!

I'll find a photo today for you... She was 11 or so when she did it, so it is very basic...

What a cute story!

These are shirts that have "Grandma is the best" sayings so I think I am going to include some grandma poetry and lots of flowers.

Nan-that's the sweetest story :)

Jacksmomma--I can't wait to see what you come up with. I've been saving the girls christening gowns and first shoes, planning to shadow box them. I haven't quite figured out what to do with them yet.

I have three white shadowboxes in my laundry room. Inside each box is my three babies coming home outfits. I love it. The shadow boxes were small though probably 8 x 8, so I didn't really have room for anything extra inside because the outfits took up the whole box. It is big enough that you can still see what it is. I only had a small wall space to work with since my laundry room isn't huge, and I loved this idea when I saw it so I just had to do it too.

Can you post a photo of yours too?

I made one with my baby cup, plate and flatware. Clothing should be easier - the cup is too thick for the frame.

I made something like this for DD with her first swim team suit, her first pair of "real" goggles, and her medal from her first year. I didn't need a really deep box (it is probably only about 1" deep or so). THe backing material was kind of like foam core poster board. I put in a piece of "water" scrapbooking paper, laid out the swim suit and stuff the way I liked it, and held them all down with silk straight pins (very fine pins... won't damage things). It was very easy.

I intended to do the same with DS's robotics t-shirt and medal, but haven't gotten to it yet.

If it is just a shirt, it should be pretty easy. If you can stick to 12 x 12 size, you could use one sheet of scrapping paper for the background.

Post a picture when you are done................P
